Our 3 bedroom; 2 terraced with 1 en-suite apartment, is situated in the centre of Tavira, a beautifully elegant town which has managed to stave off the influence of tourism. The apartment is approx 5 minutes walk from the Roman pedestrian bridge, over the river Gilão which is a great place to sit at one of the cafes and enjoy the very picturesque setting. Our apartment nestles between Cafe Venezuela & Restaurant Xico and opposite the Tavira Music Academy. If you enjoy shopping then it is walking distance to the Gran-Plaza shopping mall - it has a fantastic selection of shops, places to eat and cinemas as well as a large Continente supermarket.

Geräumiges Appartment in 2. Etage, 2 Balkone, einer davon besonders schön und geschützt mit Blick in einen kleinen Park, gute Betten, gute Duschen, Gas- und Elekto Kochherd, Spülmaschine, Waschmaschine, Kühlschrank. Kurze Entfernungen zum Zentrum und zur Bahnstation Porta Nova. Bäcker und Supermarkt in unmittelbarer Nähe. Gute Wohngegend. Abends stört der Stassenverkehr, aber nachts ist es ruhig. Ungewöhnlich und nachteilig empfanden wir, dass der volle Mietpreis bereits bei Buchung in engl. Pfund, 7 Monate vorm Urlaubstermin abgebucht wurde. Es fielen Wechselgebühren Euro-Pfund an. Nach der Buchung war die Kommunikation sehr spärlich und mühsam. Trotzdem eine schöne Woche in einer guten Wohnung! Thank you Bernie &Dan

Perfect Location

Very spacious apartment, just a short walk to the local restaurants and the river. Boat ride to the beach on Tavira Island. Tavira is a relaxed layback place, great food and wine and the host provided a nice bottle of port, much appreciated.

We could walk to all the restaurants and to get the ferry for the beach. It is on a busy street so there was traffic noise there was some noise from the other apartments but overall we enjoyed our stay loved Tavira

Posizione e tipologia della casa come da annuncio , totalmente insufficente la dotazione per 6 persone. Mancava una batteria decente di pentole, biancheria dei letti non adeguata ( letti matrimoniali allestiti con lenzuala (!!!) singole). Terrazzino invivibile di giorno causa caldo con serranda del soggiorno rotta e quindi aumento del caldo in casa, risolvibile con una semplice tenda di copertura .

We stayed at the property at the end of January and found it perfect for our needs. The apartment is well maintained and has all the mod cons needed for a nice break. It is located within walking distance of the town centre with its selection of bars and restaurants. We enjoyed our stay immensely and would happily recommend it to others.

Nous avons séjourné une semaine dans l'appartement de Bernie et Dan à Tavira . L'appartement est fonctionnel ,spacieux , propre avec une vue agréable . A moins de 10 mn à pied, on trouve de nombreux restaurants . L'embarcadère pour les plages est à 15 mn à pied également . Nous avons toujours trouvé à nous garer près de l'appartement facilement. Memorable stay in Tavira!

We stayed at Bernie & Dan's apartment for a week in July. It is ideally located with a 5 minute stroll to Bishop Square where you have your pick of places for eating/drinking to suit all tastes and budgets as well as local shops to peruse. We were fortunate enough to be here during festival week during which there were numerous live bands and artisan markets selling local produce and crafts. The apartment is also only a short walk from Porto Nova station and we ventured further afield on a couple of occasions via the local train service which was very reasonable price-wise. The apartment itself is very well equipped : cooker, fridge freezer, kettle/toaster, dishwasher, washing machine, iron etc. There is also wifi, tv, DVD and air conditioning so every need is covered!! The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated with local art and the balcony is large enough for a barbecue and al-fresco dining/drinking. The only issue we had during our stay was a problem with the electricity supply on our arrival however the apartment manager was on hand and quickly resolved the matter within a couple of hours (it was a building rather than apartment fault) so it was really no inconvenience at all. All in all I cannot fault this place and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a lovely relaxing break in Portugal.

Fantastic apartment very close to central Tavira.

The apartment was extremely clean, well equipped with everything provided that you could wish for. Kate the local contact and her husband were so helpful with nothing being too much trouble. We had a wonderful stay for 7 weeks, felt like we were at home. The location was fantastic with all facilities, restaurants, cafes etc as well as the centre of Tavira being so close. The owner Bernadette was so easy to talk too and responded to our queries very quickly. Thank you for a wonderful stay and we look forward to staying with you in future years. Excellent position in Tavira

Exactly accurate regarding location,layout and facilities. Owner and manager very friendly and helpful . Had small problem with washing machine not functioning but although Christmas period quickly had new replacement installed. Nice welcoming gift of personalised bottle of port.

Superb Stay (Apartment; Golf & Tavira)

The pictures and reviews of this lovely Apartment certainly measured up! The golf at all three of the courses visited was superb & all within 15-30 minutes of Tavira by car. Tavira itself is just as I remembered it from a previous visit of five years ago but with more restaurants & bars to visit. I would recommend this property to others & would certainly revisit if in the area again.

Tavira - March 2016

Our stay in Bernie and Dan's apartment was just the tonic we needed to chase away the winter blues. The apartment is perfect........ Spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated throughout with light and airy rooms, a well equipped kitchen, fantastic outdoor terrace and the comfiest of beds! It's a 5 minute stroll to the picturesque town square where a plethora of wonderful restaurants and bars await, all offering excellent food at very reasonable prices, in particular the fish and seafood dishes which were so fresh and delicious. There are lovely shops selling portugese crafts and art, winding narrow streets with charming houses and beautiful flowers and trees everywhere. A cup of coffee or cold beer outside one of the traditional bars or cafés, nibbling on tapas and watching the world go by is a wonderful way to spend a sunny afternoon......... We were lucky enough to be there at the Easter weekend when it's the tradition to cover the streets with local lavender....... The fragrance was intoxicating as we walked on the carpet of aromatic stems! We loved our stay so much that we have booked again for June 2016! Many thanks Bernie and Dan........we had such a fabulous and relaxing break!

Hackers stay

The apartment is a short drive from Faro airport in the wonderful town of Tavira. Tavira has many good quality restaurants that made eating out a pleasure. I found the service very good and the people friendly. The apartment is large, has all the facilities to make your stay comfortable and is a short walk to the centre of town.

A gem of a holiday

Tavira is such a beautiful and friendly place. The apartment is very tasteful, spotlessly clean and is well equipped in every way. It's location is perfect for bars and restaurants ,catching the train and near enough to catch the ferry to the idyllic beach. It was a lovely 4 day break - it just went too quick. Excellent apartment in an ideal location.

Dan & Bernies apartment is in a great location and has everything you need for a very nice relaxing holiday, its lovely and clean and within easy distance of all the local bars, shops and beach ferry. Highly recommend it and were hoping to return in 2016.This is from a couple with 3 teenagers and there was no complaints.

Perfect Location, Spacious & Well Equipped

Perfect location (for us), only a few minutes gentle stroll from the town centre and very close to an excellent café / bakery (Venezuela) and supermarket. Spacious and well equipped with all that we required for our break, the apartment is well maintained and very clean. 2 balconies ensure that you have the sun (or shade) all day. Plenty of restaurants, bars & cafes to suit all budgets and all types of cuisine. We were lucky that there was a festival going on with nightly entertainment in the main square including traditional Portuguese dancing, music and poetry. Also a wine festival! Beach is just a 15min ferry trip away (1.90 euros return) and is fabulous. Plenty of tracks for cycling / running / walking if that is your thing too. The overall experience was excellent and we'd definitely recommend it.

Undiscovered Gem - Tavira

My friends & I (4 of us), spent a fab 12 days in the apartment in Tavira which was within minutes of Bishop's Square and the Roman Bridge. A very well equipped apartment with extremely spacious sun terrace. It is serviced by Café Venezuela (opposite) which is an on-site bakery/coffee shop which is open typically from 5am - 10pm - worth mentioning that the second private terrace off the bedroom overlooks the Café & you can sit and enjoy morning coffee whilst watching the town wake up. Tavira is a beautiful, unspoilt and largely undiscovered little town on the Eastern Algarve and I would not hesitate recommending both the town and this apartment. The quality and cost of eating in the local restaurants is superb; with many local bars offering a full range of drinks and live music. With superb train links (only a few metres from Tavira (Porta Nova*) Station) you can travel west to Faro & beyond or East towards the Spanish border. Particularly love the water bus across to the Beach. *Tavira is serviced by two train stations.

Very well placed & convenient apartment, just a few minutes walk from Porta Nova train station & about 10 minutes from the centre of Tavira. The apartment is close (but not too close) to the motorway for access to other areas & the airport, if you hire a car. The apartment is well decorated & has all the amenities that anyone would need. There was no TV or Wi-Fi when we were there, but they have been added since our stay.

A very spacious apartment. Beautifully maintained. Decor is spotlessly clean, stylish and cosy. All one's holiday essentials are the apartment. Terrace is large and a great private outdoor space. The location is a couple of minutes walk from Tavira town centre. Highly recommend a visit both to this apartment and the area.

The appartment is very large and spacious with enough room for people to have their own space which is important when there are up to 4 people sharing. It's tastefully decorated with a sense of home and all the furniture are fittings are of a very high calibre. It's in a wonderful location with just 3 mins walk to the town square where there are lovely coffee shops bars and restaurants. And each morning there is a lovely cafe and cake shop where you can get your fresh breads and cakes to enjoy on the patio in the morning sun. I can highly recommend both the appartment and the location with no hesitation at all. And I can honestly say that I will return to tavira and hopefully be fortunate enough to stay in the same appartment.

My husband & I both work and live in England, but spend most of our holidays in Portugal where we have made many friends & have really fallen in love with Tavira & its hidden delights.

Ultimately, we love Tavira because of its rustic charm & fantastic beaches. The town is easily accessible with Faro airport approximately 35 mins drive away.

Why they chose this property

Tavira is a unique experience, mainly because of all its Historical background and untouched archaeologic traces which manages to keep it as one of the most characteristic or rustic cities in the Algarve region. It has a mix of Roman, Arab and Christian historical heritage, which results in a centre with remains of castle walls, churches (37) and bridges from different eras. Put this together with fantastic beaches and the islands around Ria Formosa area, and you have a unique scenario likely to dazzle many-as it did us!

In what was the walled part of the city, remain winding narrow streets, not very different from the heart of most Algarve cities. Walking and sightseeing through them is very nice, although it's true that the area is not large and any walk will likely be brief.

What makes this property unique

The centre of Tavira is located on a river inlet about two kilometers from the coast, and beaches are located in the island just in front of it. As a result, huge uncrowded beaches are guaranteed, except in the months of July and August where they tend to be somewhat more sought after.

The only way to reach the beaches is ferry boat or water taxi that run between Tavira and the Island which is 11km long and varies between 1km and 150m width. The starting point for the ferry is located within 5-10 minutes walk from our Apartment and the river boat trip takes about 15 minutes.

This beach holds the blue flag, proof of its environmental quality and superiority with the provision of many restaurants and bars.
