Our stay at The Fredericks was wonderful. We wanted to be able to relax, and the porch was a great place to do it. The neighbors were all very friendly! Our dog Molly loved the park and the great walks we went on.Thank You very much!!! We will definitely recommend it!!Jean, Ralph and Molly
We spent a week at this beautiful lodge in the “Spruce World” area of Boothbay Harbor. We cooked in the well-equipped kitchen and especially loved hanging out on the large porch with wonderful views of the bay. And we enjoyed swimming , kayaking and paddle boarding In nearby Barrett Park.. The beds were quite comfortable and we slept well. Everything was impressively clean and our host Frederick was incredibly responsive. We would definitely stay at The Fairbanks again.
The lodge was quiet, and the fact that it was a 25-30 min (albeit hilly) walk into Boothbay was a big plus! Saved time looking for parking there and $$.
We all very much enjoyed our stay at the Fairbanks lodge. The Boothbay area has so much to do and the lodge was the perfect place to stay. We spent alot if time on the porch enjoying the ocean view. The lodge was clean and well maintained. Communication and check in/out was seamless.
Beautiful log cabin on a beautiful property. We loved all the modern touches and cleanliness inside a real Maine cabin. The host is very responsive and helpful! We plan to return!
Had a wonderful stay as a family of 3 (+ 3 for part of out stay). Serene location and great room perfect for gathering and dining together. Kitchen was perfect for breakfasts and even a lobster dinner. Rooms are small, but very comfortable. Suggest packing a duffle as there’s nowhere to easily layout a suitcase.
My wife and I had a nice stay at The Fairbanks cabin. It is located in a nice community. The neighbors were all really friendly, and the roads were great for morning and evening walks. There is a nice beach just down the road - just for people, no dogs allowed. As it is located just outside of town, it is very easy getting into Boothbay Harbor.
Great cabin that’s exactly as you would expect for Maine. Front porch coffee every morning. Kids riding their bikes around the neighborhood. Updated kitchen and bathrooms. Would recommend to anyone. Thanks Frederick.
Frederick’s cottage exceeded our expectations! It’s immaculate & adorable, nestled among fragrant spruce trees with a refreshing salty breeze wafting along the porch. We were impressed with the thoughtful design elements: porcelain sinks with modern spigots that flow sideways to save space; wardrobes in each bedroom to hold shoes and clothes. Woodsy cabins can feel dark but this home has plenty of lighting and large windows with sun streaming in when you open the curtains. A private neighborhood beach is a short walk away. This was our 11th trip to BBH and we know the area well. The location was perfect for our family: husband and me, plus two of our daughters (23 & 18). Two more people could’ve easily fit. The bedding is really nice - I took pictures of the cute duvet covers so I can find something similar for our home. Frederick is helpful and easy to work with. Parking is next to the cottage and the property is accessible for all ages/abilities. The bedrooms offer plenty of privacy and we slept better than ever. There are two bathrooms and a roomy rainforest shower with plenty of hot water, water pressure, and a washer & dryer. I’m an experienced chef and there’s no shortage of cookware and utensils. Everything you’ll need is provided, including a welcome bag and even Meyers hand soaps. We have no complaints or critiques and would love to stay in the Fairbanks cabin again. It’s a perfect blend of classic Maine vibe with modern comforts and amenities. 10/10!
The cabin is in a lovely, quiet area with other similar log cabins nearby (it must have been a family camp at some point) with beautiful views of the water and a short drive to town. The cabin itself is simple and clean, exactly as pictured in the photos. If you're looking for a relaxed getaway with the perfect porch to sip your morning coffee, this is it.
Peaceful, clean home with water views close to Boothbay
Close to Boothbay, but tucked away in its own peaceful world. House was very clean. It is a beautiful classic Maine home that keeps the rustic feel, and is also updated where you want it to be (kitchen, bathrooms). Kitchen was well-stocked, dining room table was perfect for a group, deck is great (even when it rained). Frederick was so easy to work with, and a wonderful host. It is clear that a lot of thoughtful care goes into the property, and we had a wonderful stay!
Delightful dash back into the 1920’s log cabin getaway. History, perfect books for vacation, peaceful neighborhood, view of Linekin Bay, close to town harbor, wonderful cotton bedding. Heavenly!!!
Quintessential Coastal Maine Experience for Our Adult Family
This log lodge was just what we were looking for: rustic yet comfortable. Loved all the welcoming touches and interesting details of the property-- Adirondack furniture, plantings in the yard, etc. We especially loved the large comfortable family room.and adjacent porch. Nice proximity to all that downtown has to offer, yet far enough from that bustle to enjoy the quiet one expects when visiting Maine.
Fairbanks Lodge was a wonderful spot to return to after each day of our adventures in Maine. The porch overlooking the lake was perfect for relaxing after hiking and sightseeing. The location in Sprucewold just up the hill from Booth Bay Harbor, was quiet and serene, but just minutes away from shops and restaurants. Small personal touches like fluffy towels and a goody bag with treats made us feel welcome as soon as we walked in the door. The owner was immediately responsive to some questions that we had upon arrival. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Three generations of my family spent a week at the Fairbanks and we had a pretty good time. Here are the pros and cons:
Pros:
1. Absolutely fantastic large front porch.
2. Incredible shower.
3. Large inviting great room for time together.
4. Well maintained and very clean.
5. VERY comfortable mattresses.
Cons:
1. Small wardrobes in the bedrooms might fit the clothes of one person in each room, so be prepared to live out of a suitcase for a week.
2. Bedrooms are very small and rustic. Beds are against the walls (which the pics show), there are no reading lights, and no bedside tables, so bring a light to clamp onto your book.
3. Strangely small sinks in the bathrooms with no place to leave anything, so bring a toiletries bag that you either carry with you to bathroom or hang off a curtain rod.
4. Kitchen is not the selling point, but a pic should be included. Very "rustic." We bought a pot, large serving bowls, a ladle, etc. If you plan to eat out most of the time, you'll be set.
The gathering spots in this beautiful rustic cabin balance out these cons, but keep in mind that it is rustic and quaint.
This is a lovely, well-maintained and well-equipped traditional Maine log cabin cottage in the Sprucewold community. As promised, it is exquisitely peaceful. We particularly enjoyed the comfortable beds and drinking our morning coffee on the porch with a view of the water!
