About this property

Cozy studio in San Rafael; close to everything the Bay Area has to offer!

We are a 3-minute drive to downtown San Rafael, 30 minutes to San Francisco, and less than 45 minutes to Napa and Sonoma. We look forward to meeting you!

This cozy studio is about 420 square feet and adjoins the house but has its own entrance.

We live in a quiet and safe neighborhood with lots of trees and walking trails nearby. The road to our house is narrow and winds around a bit, but it's only 1/3 of a mile from Lincoln Avenue, one of the main streets running through San Rafael. Downtown San Rafael is about a 15-minute walk (downhill going there, uphill coming back).

Amenities include:

32" flat-screen TV with premium cable channels (HBO, Showtime, etc.)
Wireless internet access
Plenty of street parking, which is a short walk to the front door (no steps)

We provide all linens, towels, and soap. Guests staying 7 days or more may use our washer and dryer.

San Rafael is a convenient and central Bay Area location, only a 30-minute drive to Napa, San Francisco, Berkeley/Oakland, and about 20 minutes to the beach and Muir Woods. Downtown San Rafael and the transit station are about 1 mile away, as is the freeway entrance (101 north and south). The downtown area is charming, with artist studios, shops, restaurants, and a wonderful art house cinema. Sol Food Restaurant, less than a mile away, has been written up in the New York Times (36 Hours in Marin County); it has delicious and inexpensive Puerto Rican food. We're also near Dominican College, and the Terrapin Crossroads, a great new music venue owned by Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead.

We love hosting people and can guarantee you'll feel comfortable and well cared for. We have a small standard poodle who is very sweet and friendly. Looking forward to meeting you soon!

Cozy, comfortable & convenient! Jessica was a very kind & accommodating host. The space was perfect for us. Felt even roomier than it looks in the photos. Very comfortable bed with great pillows. Extra towels & linens provided. The kitchenette was stocked with all the pans, dishes, utensils & seasonings we could need. Plenty of closet space & drawers. It made for a perfect little home away from home for the week.

Great simple spot near San Francisco

Lovely little suite with kitchenette and private entrance in the walkout basement of the host's home. The main part of San Rafael is very close with lots of cafes and shops. There is also a park/open space area with lots of trails very close to the home that we didn't know about and was a pleasant surprise. The host was very communicative and accommodating. We very much enjoyed staying here.

Wonderful stay!

It was perfect for us! The place was nice, clean and spacious. Comfortable as well. It had everything we needed, especially coffee! The location was very convenient. We were able to easily drive to San Francisco, Berkeley and Sonoma. Two thumbs (way) up!!!!

This vrbo was lovely and I would definitely stay again! It was a bit in the hills however, after driving in and out a few times I got quite used to it. It really was a wonderful little studio. Highly recommend.

Beautiful Property

Spacious, clean, and totally comfortable. Everything that anyone could need was provided, including fresh fruit and coffee. I was impressed with the friendly neighbors and easy accessibility. I will try to continue to rent this property for more visits with my children.

A lovely stay

A perfect little get-away spot in San Rafael. Immaculate efficiency with a nice place to cook, eat, relax and of course sleep on a comfy bed. Very private with its own entrance. An easy 5 minute drive to downtown - but up a very high and twisty hill, so probably not walkable except for athletic types. We have kids grandkids in San Rafael who live in a tiny house, so we hope to be back again in this lovely space!

Good value!

This little studio worked great for me. I was in town for a week-long class, and wanted an affordable option, close to downtown that allowed me to prepare my own meals. This place checked all of those boxes. The owner was easy to communicate with, and even though the parking was on the street, I never had issues getting a parking spot right next to the home.

Jessica was an awesome host, being very welcoming and available the whole time. The studio is beautifully appointed with an understated elegance and artistic flare. All natural and earthy tones. The place was wonderfully organized, supplied and very fresh and clean. Great bed with nice linens. We appreciated the big walk-in closet that was not shown in the photos. More spacious than expected. Although there is a stretch of a very narrow hillside road leading to the house, once we got there, the parking was very easy. Fabulous place to stay. We felt really lucky to be there!!! Two thumbs way up from us!!!

great little space

The kitchenette is really nice, but ventilation is dependent on opening the window. We were happy with the place except for the dining table and stools. We found them challenging- uncomfortable and hard to get in close to the plate.

Wonderful host!

We loved Jessica's studio. It included items that are often left out of other spaces: hooks, drawers, large closet with plenty of hangars. Jessica was an attentive and delightful woman who clearly cares about the experience her guests have. Yes, the road is narrow and windy but then you're in a lovely enclave with all you need to easily relax and get around the Bay Area.

Good location in San Rafael

This studio is well equipped with all things needed. Welcoming fruit and chocolate a nice touch. Bed comfy. Barely could hear upstairs’ neighbors. Location is up usual windy roads in Marin which is getting harder for us as we get older but parking was a snap. There is a step up into bathroom.. hostess communicated often . Lots of hangers and storage space.

This is a wonderful economical oasis in an area that can be very expensive. I was pleasantly surprised by the new kitchen and the bathtub! Very comfortable stay. I’d love to return!

My week long stay with these VRBO hosts was exceptional. The studio is clean, bright, private and surrounded by lush vegetation. Everything you need to make your stay comfortable has been thought of. The kitchenette is well stocked, and many small touches such as a clothes brush in the closet and a night light in the bathroom Have been added to the studio. The studio is situated at the front of the main house located. It’s minutes from down town San Rafeal in a unique and beautiful wooded mountain side which feels more like your staying in a private oasis rather than an urban city area. There are stunning nature walks and views right by the property. The hosts we incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about what to do in the area and where to eat and explore. I found the room quite, the bed comfortable, the space clean, warm and inviting. This VRBO stay was an excellent experience, one I highly recommend it.

Very nice studio with nice kitchen area and good size room.

We stayed during some very wet weather. The place was dry, warm and comfortable. Nicely equipped kitchen with stove and microwave. The only thing we had issues with was the rain dripping off the roof, next to window, behind the head of the bed. Very loud and hard to sleep. Other than that, the place was easy to find and close to San Rafael. The property owner welcomed us and was very nice. We would stay here again.

It is a cozy , good sized, well appointed private studio for a couple. Front and Under owners home. Dog friendly. Centrally Located near the freeway. Up fairly steep hill .. Owners very accommodating , . We hope to stay there often , as we visit regularly. !!
