About this property

Family & pet friendly wheelchair accessible bungalow, edge Exmoor, sleeps 6 - 14

The cottage was once a cattle shed, converted in the 1970s to form first a workshop building and then a bungalow for people with learning disabilities and support staff. It is fully wheelchair accessible with no steps inside or outside and wide doorways, as well as accessible toilets.

There are six bedrooms with bunk beds in two family rooms and extra beds available on request. There are two lounges, a large kitchen/diner and parking for four cars outside the cottage.

The cottage is an ongoing project for our family and rental prices are reduced by 25% to reflect the fact that work is ongoing, especially to the exterior of the building, and to a room in the cottage which are locked (as per floor plan). The rooms are all renovated and freshly painted and the kitchen is also newly renovated but we do have more work to do and we hope that our visitors will appreciate the chance to stay with us at a bargain price while we complete the building's full restoration. We're also renovating the building next door, which will become the Blackerton Ecocentre - it's a fascinating building but you'll have to excuse the work needed there.

10/10 Excellent

Perfect for large families.

Alder Cottage was a great place for our family holiday, there were eleven of us in total and we all had plenty of space. The bedrooms and seating were comfortable. It was great to have a large dining table to be able to all eat together. Victoria and Jake were great, checking we had everything we needed and getting a couple of extra dining chairs for us. The kids loved the games room and spent a lot of time in there playing as there was plenty to keep them entertained. It was a very peaceful holiday in a beautiful and quiet part of Devon.

Great location, facilities very good.

We really enjoyed our stay here. It was ideal for a big family holiday. Plenty of space for us all. The games room was especially welcome for the children, leaving the main room for adults! Plenty of games and books to read if needed. Very pet friendly.
