Freshly and tastefully decorated in a coastal style, it is the ideal base for your beach holiday, or to explore everything that this wonderful area of Devon has to offer.

Located in the beautiful and understandably sought-after historic fishing village of Hope Cove in the South Hams area of Devon.

Only a 2 or 3-minute walk from the village centre with its two soft sandy beaches, shop and fantastic eateries/bars and the famous South West Coast Path, the property is in an extremely peaceful location on a no-through road to the sea.

The apartment also has the added benefit of free, permanent designated parking.
There is also free fibre WiFi, with a landline available for local and emergency calls.

The apartment has two bedrooms; one double and one bunk room, comfortable living/dining room, galley style kitchen and shower room.

The living room is equipped with a comfy sofa, cushions, occasional armchair, side tables and reading lamps, there is also a dining table for four.

Top of the range Smart 3D television, with Sky HD, DVD/BlueRay Player, PlayStation 3 and a fantastic BOSE music system.

In the newly refurbished galley kitchen, facilities include a fridge with a small Ice zone, washing machine, NEFF oven and Hob, new microwave, Nespresso coffee machine, as well as a toaster, kettle and all the pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and utensils that might be needed during your stay.

Both bedrooms have new beds, and mattresses, furniture and ample storage for your stay.
Please note that whilst bed linen is provided for your stay, bath and beach towels are not…

The shower room is completely new and offers an electric shower in a cubicle, low-level WC and wash-basin with a towel rail and wall-mounted heated towel heater.

Hope Cove beautiful and great for swimming. Lovely getaway. Beach 5 mins walk, second beach 10 mins walk. Need good mobility as steep path down to beach and challenging climb back up with a choice of steps or slope. One small shop selling basics and also ice cream, coffee, pasties.Nice hotel for drinks and food but not cheap.Property tidy inside but some windows do not open while others do not lock. Crockery in poor state of repair - chipped/cracked could do with replacing. No can opener lol . Overall worth the price paid. Beds comfortable. Water very hot. Kitchen and bathroom nice.As very relaxing break would probably stay again.

Very enjoyable stay

The property was in good condition, an ideal location with a short walk to the beach and coastal path, parking and very good value. It was well equipped and the owner was helpful at all times for our trip, which we thoroughly enjoyed.

Weekend break

A lovely base for a long weekend. Absolutely stunning location, the cove is just at the end of the road. The accommodation had everything we needed and the beds were very comfy. The owner was quick to communicate when asked a question and provided all the information needed. Would love to come back and stay again.

I cannot agree with the reviews on the cleanliness of the property. In fact we were rather disappointed.The step down to the entrance was full of dried leaves, straw and weeds growing out of it.The mat inside the door had no non-slip left and considering my wife is diabled, it was a serious trip hazard.The shower had not been properly cleaned. There was mould on the sealant and grout. There was a large chip out of the enamel in the shower tray.The external part of the shower tray was dirty and could not have been cleaned for some considerable time.Part of the laminate floor was damaged and lifting, another trip hazard.The fridge had mould around the sealing rubber, and under the bottom tray in the door was filthy. The door to the freezer compartment was missing.We used the washing machine once. The soap dispenser tray was filthy with mould, and the door rubber was dirty with mould and debris.The description stated there was a dryer. There was no sign of it. Also no hair dryer which was also listed.The bunk room was used to store a large vacuum cleaner which took up almost half of the available floor space. The ironing board and various boxes were under the beds and settee.The duvet on the double bed smelled of sweat!Instructions how to use the ceramic hob would have been useful.Most of the widow handles were inoperable, preventing me from opening some and securing some.The place was shabby and for the price paid I expected better.I had no response from the owner

Overall, good, as mentioned to the owner, a little more care is required with regard cleaning, on the surface all good. Only when prompted through Vrbo did i get as response from the owner, as the time frame was getting very close as to when i would be staying. but after that all ok. Overall an excellent location, and would stay there again !

The property is compact but mostly has what you need. (Worth noting that towels are not provided - we had to go back to Kingsbridge to buy some...). It would be useful to have some more information in the flat about where things are (e.g. cutlery!) and how things work, but the owner was very helpful when we contacted him. The house is well located for hiking on the coast path, and it's handy being able to leave the car at the house. Hope is a pretty village, but has only one pub which gets very busy, and only one very small shop.

Stay at Fern Lodge, Hope Cove April 2025

The property was clean and the description was accurate. We were not provided with an exact address, just the road, and as there was no phone signal, could not contact the host for information on arrival. So we had to drive slowly along the road until we found it. Also, no information provided regarding bin days, recycling or appliances.We had a lovely stay and when the electricity tripped when a bulb blew the host did reply quickly when we contacted him.Hope Cove is gorgeous and we were blessed with the weather.

Fern Lodge is in desperate need of referbishment. also the cleaning is awful, as soon as you get there, you have to walk through dead leaves and litter in the lower step. the sofa has toys stuffed at the back and cardboard boxes under the sofa, sweet wrapers under the tv and when it rains the window cill floods with water. The carpet strip between the hall and bathroom is not secured down, so it just floats around. The small bedroom space is taken up by a vacuum cleaner sprawing on the floor.

Great location but we were expecting more from the property for the price we have paid. The house was smaller than anticipated, there was a (working) washing machine but no rack nor place to dry clothes. Before use, we washed the pots and pans because they were still sticky. There are two positives for this property the location to the beach, sw coastal path and secondly the bed linen was clean, sadly the rest of the property is in desperate need of an upgrade, refurbishedment and tidy up inside and out. The front door is dirty, the front door step down into the rental is full of dead leaves and rubbish, first impressions not great. Parking outside was fine for one car. Inside none of the uvpc window handles fit down in their correct place, so security is an issue, we had a leak when it rained and puddles formed on the living room window sill, managed to catch the leak before it ran down into the electric heater on the wall. Mould on walls and curtains in rooms. Lots of clutter, empty boxes under sofa, beds and spare duvets under beds, massive hoover taking over bunk bed room. Would be too cosy for four adults but ok with small children. In the kitchen pots and pans didn't want to use these, under sink cupboard is full of random cleaning products and rubbish. Sorry to say but this rental is not up to standards I'd expect from a holiday home, needs some quality control , checks before guests arrive. Ending on a positive Nick, the host, communication was great, thanks for answering my question. Ps. Where was the hairdryer?

After years of staying in Hotels, I bought the apartment in 2017 as base to use when I'm in Devon visiting my Son.

Having spent years travelling down to the South Hams, I knew Hope Cove was where I wanted to be, so when the apartment came up for sale, I had to have it !

I immediately set about redecorating it from top to bottom, and improving the apartment, making it the comfortable and well-equipped little place it now is.

Hope Cove, along with the nearby sailing Mecca of Salcombe, is THE most requested location in all of South Devon.
This apartment offers accommodation just minutes walk from the centre of the stunning seaside village of Hope Cove, with its two sandy beaches, and fantastic Bar and Pub.

The Hope Cove Big Weekend on the August bank holiday weekend is brilliant fun for the whole family, with beach games, raft, kayak and swimming races, together with evening live music and beer festivals.
Be quick to book this weekend!

The Cove Bar, just 3 minutes walk away, is wonderful, with incredible quality and value food and local craft beers, together with all the major sport shown in the new upstairs bar with its great new balcony.
The Bar also offers regular live music, showcasing the best local talent.

The South West Coast Path is 200 metres away at the end of the road - it's a walker's paradise with incredible coastal walks on the doorstep!
