The entire property was set up well to vacation (home away from home) kitchen was set up well for hosting and the evening sunsets on the patio were 5plus stars The house was well stocked The host was quick to reply to any questions we had
The house was great - had all the things we needed and being right on the water, the kids could spend their days in and on the water while the adults chilled on the dock and backyard. We'll be back!
A fantastic rental property. Beautiful views right on the water, and the kids enjoyed hours of swimming off the dock.

Thanks for your review Ashley. I'm glad your family and the kids enjoyed it. The sand beach, dock and sunst views make it a great lakeplace to vacation at. Ernie
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. The house was well maintained, clean, and very close to town, which is convenient. Beautiful lakefront property.
Super clean property, crystal clear lake water, great central location in the Okanagan valley for visiting wineries. The whole family enjoyed our week- we only wish we had more time!

Thanks Nigel, we are glad you enjoyed the house and Penticton area and look forward to having you back again next year.
This Penticton Lakefront house is very comfortable and well equipped. It has all the modern amenities and comfortable beds making for a comfortable stay. We have stayed both in the summer and in the winter here. During the summer the large front patio deck, level yard, sand beach, dock and sunset views make for an amazing experience. It has an excellent location on the lake close to many wineries in Naramata, Penticton, Oliver and Okanagan falls. It is also very close to all the amenities , restaurants and pubs of Penticton. Highly recommend staying here and will return
We had a very enjoyable stay this time as we had during prior stays. Views from the lakeside living room both upstairs and downstairs are excellent. The house is nicely furnished with leather couches and comfy beds. The Kitchen is fully equipped and the second fridge in the summer kitchen downstairs was great for beverages and extra food storage. The sand beach is awesome for summer hanging out and the water is clean and clear. Good golf and many of the best wineries are all close! We will return when we have a chance.
We were three couples doing a week bike/wineries touring. The location was great for biking to Naramata, Summerland and Okanagan Falls. The house gave each couple their own bathroom. The kitchen was very well equipped and we ate in all nights for a week making use of the natural gas bbq many nights. Save On was close by for groceries. Had one really nice day so managed to get out into the lake too. Will recommend to friends visiting the area.
Very clean and comfortable home. The owner is very responsive. If travelling with a boat recommend that alternate arrangements are made for your trailer during your stay. The property is on a busy road and the assigned trailer parking was a steep embankment on the side of the property, not useable for our pontoon boat trailer.

Hi Jacob, thanks for your review. To clarify, the trailer parking identified in our listing would be the north seide of the driveway not the steep embankment beside our driveway. This space woudl work for a normal size trailer but certainly not for a extreemly wide pontoon boat trailer. I do tell clients parking is somewhat limited and for practical purposes limited to 3 cars and a boat traler and this woudl require hand-bombing the trailer close into the north side and then the two cars in the driveway woudl prevent a car in the garage from in and out access. Storing a trailer offsite at the marina would certainly be preferable if it can be arranged. Thanks again, Ernie

Disappointed
The house was just ok but is located on a very busy road. So there is constant traffic noise. You are also taking your life in your hands getting into and out off the driveway. There are also a book of house rules that you must follow or the owner threatens to keep the damage deposit.

Thanks for your review Richard, although we were more than surprised at your rating and comments. We’ve had this house on VRBO for 16 years and have hundreds of reviews rating the house and experience as 5 star. We’ve only had one prior review less than a 5 at a 4 so your review at a 3 is clearly a significant outlier. Rating the house as “simply ok” is plainly inaccurate. The house is as pictured in the ad, is always exceptionally well cleaned, and is well equipped with comfortable beds and linens. The overwhelming majority of our clients enjoy the house.
Re your comments re the road and my instructions. The house is on a road that is busy at specific times. I will update the ad to ensure that this is mentioned. Regarding your comments that the house has a book of rules that we threaten to withhold your security deposit, this is again inaccurate at best.
Our manual has a 1 page do’s and don’ts, otherwise the manual is instructions and information so that guests can enjoy the features of the house and know how to handle garbage and recycling. We do intend to re write it to modernize it and make it more user friendly.
I do insist that people follow the rules regarding the propane “no spark” fire pit as wild fires are a big deal in the Okanagan and BC so I do mention that if people break the rules and put wood in it or roast food items they may forfeit their deposit.
This is a very tall, narrow house with a great view and dock plus beach to access the water.
This is not a house you want to stay if you have any mobility issues are there a lot of stairs. There are many rules to follow with post-it notes around to remind you. We had several issues with electronic door locks not working and were disappointed to not be able to use the sliding doors on the lower level to get access to lawn, patio and stairs to waterfront.

Hi Lori, thanks for your review. We are disappointed as your review is perhaps the first less than 5-star review I've had in 15 years. The post-it notes with instructions and some rules are intended to assist clients who are not familiar with the house. WIth the unexpected mechanical failure of the keypad lock, you were able to have full access to the entire house using the keys provided. I try to provided backup systems so that guests are not inconvienienced in any material way in events like this and I believe the only inconveinience was having to use a key instead of the lockbox (like you do at your own house I bet). Regardless the issue was remedieed within a day or two of you identifying it to me.
Regarding access to the lakeside via the the side door instead of the front sliding door is something we request of our clients du to years of experience. The access visa the side door is slate tiles while the access via the sliding door has new carpet flooring.. When people access the house via the front sliding doors, we have found the carpet ends up filthy and worn in a very short time (within a season) and does not appear fresh and clean for later on guests. The access is marginally less convienient but dramatically reduces the wear and tear, dirt and drink spillage on the lower living room carpet. We hope you had a great stay,!
Our stay at the Skaha Lakefront House was nothing short of spectacular! From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the stunning views of Skaha Lake right from the back patio. The house itself is spacious, immaculately clean, and beautifully decorated. With four bedrooms, it comfortably accommodated our family, providing both privacy and common areas to gather and relax.
We brought our boat, and the private dock made access to the lake incredibly easy. We spent countless hours out on the water, and it was the perfect setting for our kids to enjoy swimming and boating.
Inside, the kitchen was well-equipped with everything we needed, and the open-concept living area made it easy to enjoy meals together and create lasting memories. The thoughtful design and attention to detail throughout the home added to our comfort and enjoyment.
The location couldn’t be better, far enough from the hustle and bustle of Penticton, offering a private escape while still being close to Penticton’s amenities. The host provided helpful information that made our stay even more enjoyable, ensuring we had everything we needed for a perfect getaway.
Overall, this property exceeded our expectations in every way. Whether you're looking for a peaceful retreat or a fun-filled lakeside vacation, this house has it all. We can't wait to return next year!
We had a family reunion with cousins from UK over here for a wedding. My family hubby, 1 brother, 1 sister and hubby and our daughter stayed here for 4 days. It was beautiful and had everything anyone would need. It was lovely and clean, beds were comfy and lots of room. A great deck area outside overlooking the lake. Ernie was very good at communicating things to me and left lists of places to see, places to eat and info on wineries in area. We would definitely rent this again for another visit.
Our 6-person Family Group thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful Skaha Lake property. The well-appointed and fully-equipped lake property came exactly as advertised and proved to be a fabulous "base" from which to tour the Okanagan. We appreciated our host's thoroughness and attention to detail as regards the use and enjoyment of all amenities provided. This, combined with the property's spectacular setting on Skaha Lake, made for a very special week. We have no hesitation recommending this property!
Nice place with great views!! Was unfortunate due to a few previous guests not respecting the boat house you have no access to boat house or water toys. Owner was quick to respond to questions and accomadate issues but has lots of rules so pay attention and read carefully
We loved staying at this property! Right on the water and the depth was nice and shallow - perfect for our kids! Plus it was close to amenities if we wanted to get out, but also the perfect place to relax for the day. Highly recommend!
This property was perfect for our family weekend vacation. Nice kitchen area, and lots of available outdoor seating. All beds were comfortable although my wife was disappointed that the jetted tub was unavailable. We hiked, biked and enjoy a chauffeured wine tour.
Great location, Ernie’s was fantastic at answering questions, very organized with Binder for important information we needed. Things were labelled through out the home to make sure we had a successful stay.
House is close to amenities. We stayed in off season so we didn’t have the opportunity to use all the wonderful outdoor items (fire, deck water).
The view was amazing we really enjoyed having our coffee and overlooking the calm waters.
Excellent lakeside location that served us well to explore the Naramata bench, Oliver and other wine areas. Our evening night cap on the deck was delightful.. There’s no doubt it is tricky to get in and out of the driveway but the views are outstanding from the house, across the lake. Very well equipped kitchen and BBQ that served us well in preparing some great meals. Unfortunately we figured out the air conditioning system a bit later during our week as the bottom bedroom occupants heard the loud central air unit all night long. So that can be a challenge for light sleepers. But once we found our rhythm all was good. Overall a very good home that served as a great homebase for a fantastic week in the beautiful southern Okanogan area
We had two families enjoy this wonderful property for a week. House is very well stocked, owners were great and the view/ patios are even better. A great place to relax and enjoy some good lake time. Will definitely rent again!

Hi Marlee, thanks for your review. We try to have the house ready for people to enjoy their holiday "as if" it was their own holiday home. We do have a few notes and post-its around the house to help guide our guests, as guests don't know the house or the nuances and don't always want to look through binders to find instructions. Glad you enjoyed your stay and are wanting to come back next year. Ernie
Great location, clean and spacious, communicative host. We enjoyed our stay, but did feel less welcome as guests due to the many post-it notes peppered throughout the house advising us what not to do, or what not to use.

Response from VrboOwner on 18 Jun, 2023
Hi Susan, thanks for the review. We do try to make the house comfortable for our holiday guests. The house is provided as a holiday house, as if it was your own house to use. The post-its and notes are intended to assist guests in avoiding problems, as they are not as familiar with the property as if they used it regularily. The guideance provided are to prevent issues with neighbors and authorities. I believe the "do not" rules posted mostly apply to use of the fire pit and noise outside after a certain time. Should my clients ignore the rules, future clients will not be able to have a firepit outside or may not even be able to rent the place, as such, it is important to have reminders on these critical issues. I am sorry if it comes across negtively, but its not a party house with quiet time afte r10 PM outside, and we cannot have children nor adults isusing the firepit due to fire danger in the Okanagan.. I'm glad you enoyed your stay overall.

Why they chose this property
We rented a house on Kalamalka Lake in the North Okanagan for 10 years before buying a lakefront property. We were tired of old crappy beds and ugly shag carpet etc.. This house on Skaha Lake has everything we wanted when we were renting - a well set up and nicely appointed interior with great views of the lake, a good bedroom set up, nice comfortable beds, a great waterfront location, a great beach and dock set up, clean clear weed free water and close to all that Penticton has to offer.....
What makes this property unique
Great Location, Modern House, Well furnished and equiped, shallow-grade sand beach. Boathouse Rooftop deck with propane firepit.
Excellent location for wine tasting and all Penticton and the South Okanagan has to offer. Very accessible to Naramata, Summerland, Penticton, Okanagan Falls and Oliver wineries!!!
