About this property
Porth Nanven Cottage, Near St Just & Coast, Dog Friendly with Parking
Why Choose Porth Nanven Cottage?
Location – an easy walk to both St Just, a vibrant market town, and the coast, with a cove only a stroll away and footpaths in every direction from your doorstep.
Accessibility – Porth Nanven Cottage is the perfect base for exploring the area, St Ives, Porthcurno, Lands’ End, Sennen and Penzance all within a short drive. With safe parking for one car (two by agreement).
Comfortable – chic yet cosy space, with two comfortable bedrooms, each with bathroom; big squashy sofas to curl up on, dining area and if you must stay in touch, high speed WIFI.
Tranquillity – peaceful valley location with easy access to beaches, restaurants and attractions.
Dog Friendly – It’s dog heaven, with walks in all directions and a safe, private garden for that early morning sniff about.
A warm welcome – the owners are next door to help if you need them, they are also happy for you to help yourself to their glorious vegetable garden.
Imagine spending your days exploring the breath-taking beauty of the wild, rugged landscape of West Cornwall, walking to Lands’ End or Zennor. Balance that with lazy days on nearby sandy beaches, such as Sennen or Porthcurno or find a lesser-known cove, such as Porth Nanven or Nanjizel, sunbathing and riding the waves. Returning to a clean, comfortable and stylish Cornish cottage where you can kick back and unwind, with a glass of something in the private garden. Then head out to St Just, Mousehole or St Ives for dinner to sample the vibrant Cornish culinary scene. If this is your idea of a perfect Cornish holiday, then Porth Nanven Cottage is your ideal choice.
Accommodation
The cottage is snuggled tightly into the hillside and is approached down a track in magical Cot Valley, which is an area of outstanding natural beauty. Located in the far west of Cornwall between Cape Cornwall and Lands’ End, the valley stretches down to the sea and Porth Nanven Cove which is sandy at low tide. The market town of St Just is nearby with a selection of independent shops, a small co-op, butcher, veg shop, moomaid ice cream and coffee shop and a number of good pubs. If you need a larger supermarket, the historic coastal harbour of Penzance is 15 minutes away.
You enter the cottage up a path from the parking space, the front door is along the side of the property opening into a small hallway with hooks for coats. To the left is the newly installed kitchen, with plenty of cupboard space, large range cooker with ceramic hob, washing machine, dishwasher, large retro style fridge / freezer and microwave. The kitchen leads through to the spacious, open plan, triple aspect living and dining area, there are large windows looking out over the valley and French doors leading out to one part of the garden; the result, a bright and airy space with views over the garden. At one end of the room is a large comfortable sofa, coffee table and a smart TV, in the dining area there is a further sofa, armchair, small dining table and two benches. An ideal room for relaxing after a strenuous coastal walk or surfing at nearby Sennen Beach! On the other side of the cottage are two double bedrooms; the master has a comfortable super king bed and ensuite shower room with basin, shower and WC. The second bedroom has a double bed, cupboard and chest of drawers; both rooms are adorned with crisp white bed linen. There is a separate family bathroom with bath and shower over basin, towel rail and WC. You will find painted wooden floorboards and beautifully decorated rooms throughout the cottage.
There is space to park one car at the front of the property and the ability to park a second car by arrangement if required. To the front of the property is a gravelled area with garden table and chairs and a charcoal BBQ. There is a further garden area to the side of the property with patio directly outside the living room, the remainder laid to lawn and abundant flowerbeds. There are footpaths directly outside the cottage leading onto the coastal path and down to the sea, Porth Nanven House is next door, where the owners Emily and Alex live, but the cottage remains private with a secluded garden; perfect for couples or a small family.
Please note that access to the cottage is via a very narrow, secluded, unmade track. Whilst we endeavour to keep the track cut back, due to the nature of the property it can become quite narrow, particularly for larger vehicles.
Cot valley is absolute heaven for dogs with abundant footpaths, a stream leading down to the cove and footpaths in every direction; so we encourage all dog-owners to bring their beloved pets on holiday with them, they will thank you for it!
The changeover day is a Friday in peak season. Off season is more flexible - do get in contact if you cannot find your ideal dates and I will try to help.

Why they chose this property
Porth Nanven Cottage is a real gem in a stunning valley close to Sennen Beach and Cape Cornwall. Here is just one of our many guest reviews
"The cottage is in a lovely location in its own little valley with a short walk down to a sandy bay at low tide. Great for the kids as there were plenty of rock pools to explore. This stretch of coast between Port Nanven and St Ives is very beautiful and peaceful with plenty of great walking opportunities. A great holiday and particularly liked the light and airy sitting room….perfect in any weather"
