Lovely cosy cottage in a great location

We loved our stay at Little Chart, which is a two minute walk from Deal’s seafront. The cottage is fully equipped and beautifully decorated. Comfy sofa/armchairs in the living room, a separate dining room, and a log fire that we really enjoyed. The walled garden is a good size and a sunny spot for a morning cuppa. Many thanks.

Little Chart cottage Deal

Spacious cottage in wonderful location with large courtyard garden. However, we arrived to find leftover takeaway food in the fridge in summer house, (obviously the cleaners hadn’t checked that) a split toilet seat, broken and loose arm of armchair in living room, a grubby and brown stained shower curtain with missing hanging rings. The curtains in the main bedroom also had missing curtain rings which meant the curtains sagged when pulled across (looked like a students flat share!). The cane chair in the main bedroom also had a badly split arm rest. A piece of ‘fabric, (albeit with actually decent hooks) but didn’t even fit (too short and too narrow) just hung up at the back door does not make it a curtain. On the plus side it was well stocked with day to day cleaning products for visitors to use. This is a beautiful quirky, cosy little house in an amazing location, which accepts dogs is a ‘true find’ but let down by being, in my opinion, very shabby. Just attention to little details and a bit of TLC would make this house truly beautiful.

Warm comfortable cottage that feels like home.

We enjoyed our stay at Little Chart. The cottage is warm and comfortable. It feels like home as it is full of books and art, and the kitchen is well equipped, with dishwasher, microwave and airfryer, as well as range cooker. The courtyard is spacious and a nice place to sit if the sun is out. It is only a few yards go the beach promenade and a flat walk to the pier and restaurants. We visited Walmer castle and St Margarets Bay and enjoyed both. When the kettle broke the team immediately replaced it. Very quick to respond. There is low cold water pressure upstairs, but not a major problem. I would recommend the cottage and Keepers Cottages.

4/10 Poor

Needs cleaning and redecorating

Bathroom in single bedroom has peeling paint on walls and ceiling, rusty shower rail and mildew round shower tray and ceiling. The extractor fan does not work. A sign asks you to only use immersion heater when showering, waiting 30 mins for water to heat. The only hanging space that is not padlocked is in the double bedroom and had clothes hanging in it. The removable secondary glazing on every window had dust and insects trapped behind it. This is a good house in a great location, the garden is lovely, and would be a great stay with some thorough cleaning and re-decoration. The people at Keepers Cottage asked what they could do to improve our stay, but there was little to be done in the short term.

Great location

Great location for both beach and town. Although no parking at the property plenty on the street. House nice and spotlessly clean but does need some updating in the dining room and kitchen. The courtyard garden is awful though, overgrown and broken and the garden table needs replacing definitely needs some TLC here as such a shame as it wouldn’t take much to make it very pleasant.

1011 Marina Deal

We booked for 7 nights, delightful place. Situated metres away from the seafront, within the older / established area of Deal. The house and garden fulfilled our requirement totally . Compact kitchen, lovely dinning room, homely lounge ( my only negative point the settee tends to consume all whom dare to sit upon it, please replace or renew the springs ) Bedrooms / Bathrooms spacious, with view of the sea from the upper landing. Free Carparking is close by. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay again. Steve / Julie / Holly

A lovely old cottage

Little Chart is a lovely old cottage full of character. It's beautifully furnished and very well equipped. However it would help if the "House Manual" was left in an obvious place - it was hidden behind some bottles in the kitchen. We did not find the deep freeze (in the summerhouse/shed in the garden) until after our shopping had been delivered and the few frozen things we had ordered were returned because we thought we had nowhere to keep them! It would help if the location of the freezer was specified in the details. It was literally a 2 minute walk to the beach through a lovely little courtyard garden. This could do with a tidy up, but we did stay at the end of summer when things always need cutting back, etc. A wonderful place to stay.

Cosy well equipped cottage with some reservations.

Great time in cosy cottage. Problems as follows - 40+ flies in cottage on arrival. One kitchen cupboard door falling off. Garden getting unloved not as beautiful as pictures . No comfortable loungers or chairs outside. In storm Friday water dripping from skylight onto bed occupant underneath. No blue lid recycling bin so had to put all recycling in general rubbish. No non slip mat for bath or shower or handholds in shower - we are all over 80! Main general rubbish bin (green) already full (I put our rubbish out Thurs night as requested). However we enjoyed our stay.

Disappointing stay - not as advertised

We stayed at Little Chart for a few weeks. The location is excellent, with the beach, shops and restaurants all within easy walking distance. Unfortunately, the property itself was disappointing. The house feels quite tired and there is an obvious damp issue, with a musty smell throughout. The carpets are worn and stained, the windows are in poor condition, and there are large gaps in the floorboards in the main bedroom. Some of the wooden knots protrude from the floorboards, making them uncomfortable and even painful to walk on. The garden was very overgrown and untidy when we arrived, although to be fair this was sorted while we were there. The team managing the cottage were helpful and responsive whenever we contacted them, which we appreciated. Overall, though, the photos and description don't accurately reflect the current condition of the property. We expected a much higher standard based on the listing, so sadly we wouldn't choose to stay here again.
