About this property

An old stone cottage full of rustic charm with pool and stunning views

Truffle is a lovely stone character cottage that sits as part of a small cluster of buildings on gentle slope next to its sister cottage Walnut, on the edge of the traditional working hamlet of Le Peyruzel. The outline of the 13th century Chateau Peyruzel is ever present as it looks down across the valley. It is in a truly tranquil spot where you can relax unwind and watch the evening sunsets and the rolling country scenery. You have a lovely private terrace and a garden area, where you can eat and relax. The 9 x 5m pool is heated from May through to October. It sits in the most perfect location. It has plenty of terrace space on two sides and the most incredible views. In most of the Spring and Summer season it benefits from the sun all day long with a little corner of shade if you need it. The sun sets behind Le Peyruzel and so you can enjoy lovey warm afternoon and late swims after a hard days sight-seeing. The pool is fitted with an electric security cover and is also fully enclosed with self closing gates for added safety. The cottage is very comfortable inside with lots of exposed stone and beams. The tiled floor ensures it stays cool in the Summer and a huge wood burner is fitted for guest staying in early Spring and late Autumn months. It is open plan with comfy sofas and armchairs a big dining table and satellite TV and DVD player. It has a spacious handmade kitchen. We hope we have thought of everything you will need to create a home away from home including free WiFi. Upstairs there is a lovely double bedroom with high ceilings and French doors that open out to let in the early morning sunlight. There are bed side table with lamps, hanging space, a big chest of drawers. The second bedroom has two full size single beds one of them is set up high and is reached by a big sturdy ladder. There is also hanging and drawer storage. There is also an additional full size single bed on the landing area with its own chest of drawers. The bathroom is fitted with a large walk in shower with loo and hand basin.

I moved to France to live permanently in 2016 with my husband Jerry and our Working Cocker Spaniel Inca. It's hard not to fall in love with this area. We had explored this region on holiday when our children were very young and again 20 years later when they were all grown up. Our attraction for the Perigord Noir had never diminished and so now we find ourselves living our own little dream and having a French adventure.
Le Peyruzel is a very special spot, it remains very unspoiled and operates as a working farming community, crops here are mainly Walnut groves, but also wheat, barley, hay, maize, and sunflowers too. Our properties sit nestled on the slopes of the hamlet and enjoy the most amazing views across the Ceou valley and beyond. The properties are about 200 years old and formed a cluster of ancient farm buildings, they have been lovingly restored from dereliction by the previous owners over a period of 20 years and have operated as gites for many years. A brand new pool built into the slope has been created by us in summer 2016 and this now benefits from being heated from May though to October has been a most welcome addition to the property

Why they chose this property

The thing that sold this property to us was the character of the buildings themselves, the quality of their renovation and the views. When you drive in you just feel peaceful, relaxed and at home.... it’s as simple as that!

What makes this property unique

Location, location, location….to be in such a perfect spot and yet so close to so many of the regions gems it what makes Le Peyruzel a special place.
