About this property

A beautiful converted barn in Georgeham, with hot tub, 1.5 miles from surf beach

Frog Street Barn is a cosy, wood-filled character cottage conversion with an outside hot tub. It has an open-plan, fully equipped kitchen and dining room with everything you will need for a self catered holiday, including a washing machine, dishwasher, coffee machine and full complement of kitchen utensils and equipment. There is also a separate lounge with TV, DVD player and comfortable seating for 6 with a beautiful character fireplace and log burner.
Frog Street Barn is situated on the edge of the picture postcard village of Georgeham which is around 5 minutes drive (or 20 mins picturesque walk) from the award-winning Putsborough Beach, which boasts 1.5 miles of sand and surf. Croyde and Woolacombe surf beaches are 10 minutes drive away. Perfect for all the family. Georgeham has two lovely village gastro-pubs, a well-stocked village shop and post office and a small children's playground. In the summer months there are even pop-up take away food vans which appear weekly in the centre of the village. There are plenty of gorgeous country footpaths and coastal walks either straight from the Barn, or a short drive away.
Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a kingsize bed and an ensuite shower room with toilet and a walk-in wardrobe. The other two bedrooms are smaller, one with a kingsize bed, and the other with twin beds. Both these bedrooms have hanging and drawer space. These two rooms share a separate shower room with toilet.
Outside you will have exclusive use of a patio and pretty cottage garden which get the sun from mid-morning to evening and is furnished with table, chairs and umbrella, leading onto a lawn and pretty cottage garden which in turn leads onto a spacious driveway for parking for up to 6 cars. This whole area faces some mature woodland and is private from the road. You will share the parking area with our neighbours, a professional young couple who live in the small, privately accessed annexe which is attached to the main house. As well as the patio and lawn at the front, you will have exclusive use of the back garden which has a hot tub (suitable for 5 people - or 6 if you are prepared to be cosy!). There are facilities for washing off and hanging your wetsuits after a long day at the beach, and there is a firepit/BBQ for relaxed summer evenings outside.
The Barn is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Georgeham village has thatched cottages and a medieval church. Croyde, Saunton and Woolacombe surf beaches are nearby, and all offer surf schools, pubs and plenty of places to eat and relax. The area is an absolute gift to surfers and walkers of all abilities, and there are also small theme-parks, zoos and attractions for the children within driving distance.
Please note that although the Barn is suitable for family holidays, small children are very welcome, they would have to be supervised in the garden areas as the fencing is not child-proof and there is a small glass greenhouse in the back garden. There are also some aspects of the house that may not be suitable for them (eg blinds with cords).
No smoking or pets in the house, please.

Second Visit - property lovely as ever
We returned this year as we find Frog Barn the perfect base in North Devon. It’s a gorgeous, comfortable property in lovely Georgham, whilst in walking distance of Croyde. Once again the hot tub a huge hit with us. Thank you for a lovely week.

Wonderful property in fabulous location
The Frog Street Barn is a lovely place to stay. A converted barn with lots of room downstairs with the kitchen, dining room and lounge area. And then upstairs three very nice bedrooms, more than enough for our family of five. All round an excellent place to stay

Great Cottage
Really nice place to stay. Loved the hot tub! Not far from beaches and restaurants. Croyde has some really good places to eat. The only things that I would mention are that the floorboards are too creaky. Also need a downstairs look to accommodate the use of the hot tub. Overall, a great stay.

Fabulously spacious and comfortable property
Wonderful contact with the owners Judith & Martin who are so helpful with advice and responses. Rooms are all very spacious & comfortable. Lovely outdoor hot tub set against a traditional stone wall. Very helpful information pack in the property on local walks and things to do. Georgeham has 2 very lovely pubs that are very friendly and serve great food. We found the coastal walks around North Devon stunning! Rugged coastline with breathtaking views, big sandy beaches and even spotted some seals. A highly recommended destination for any season.

About the host

Hosted by Judith Larrington

Host profile image
Martin and Judith Larrington have lived in Georgeham for the past 35 years, and have brought our family up here. We both like the outdoor life, and have enjoyed the walking, surfing, kayaking and biking to be had locally. We are now grandparents, and our family come and also enjoy all that Frog Street Barn has to offer.

Why they chose this property

Frog Street Barn was converted around 20 years ago by a personal family friend of ours, a local builder. We love the cosy character cottage that has been created.
