Natural Park, Faial Island Casa da Guia - Two Bedroom House AL/1084

Casa da Guia is a cute and cozy 2 bedroom house located in the Natural Park of Faial´s Monte Guia region. An area rich in flora, fauna and unique geological features. Only a short walk up from Casa da Guia are cliffs of eroded coastlines that make up the Baía das Caldeirinhas. A sanctuary for observing many species of birds and sea-life. Directly from this area are walking trails that make up the Circuits of Monte de Guia for amazing views of Porto Pim Bay, Horta City, Pico Island and Sao Jorge Island.
From the house there is a private pathway that leads to the popular, Praia do Porto Pim with golden sand, Blue Flag status that has stunningly beautiful blue calm waters, wonderful to visit anytime of the year.
Even though Casa da Monte Guia is set in an area of peace and tranquility, many places of interest and city conveniences are only a few minutes drive away. . At the base of Mount da Guia is the whale station, Fáabrica da Baleia, the sea centre, Centro do Mar and a restaurant with terrace overlooking the beach. And further down the street is where the Marina is located along with the dive shops, whale watchers, tour guide offices, rent a car offices, quaint cafe´s, good restaurants and the famous Peter´s Cafe.

Lovely peaceful house with outstanding views

Paul was extremely helpful and very prompt at answering our questions and giving us suggestions. The house is well equipped with a gas oven, charcoal grill and washing machine. It’s a 15 to 20 minutes walk from great restaurants, pastry shops and bars. The ferry is inexpensive and only takes 30 minutes to reach some of the other islands.

A Treasure

This home is perfectly situated above the Horta harbor with a view of Pico, the ocean and Faial. It is a very comfortable home with everything you could wish for. The location is indeed special. There is no place quite like it on the island. Paul was very helpful and pleasant!

Great view

Great location to view the port of Horta and the island of Pico while one enjoys a glass of wine and cheese. The location is on an up hill location and a little remote and ways from the Horta main city center. We rented a car so that was not an issue. Paul our host was great to work with. Enjoyed going to the restaurant Athletico and the local paderia/cafe for pastries and coffee.

Such a cool location!

We loved our stay at Casa da Guia. The house was exactly as described & pictured. It's small, yes, but had a location that you can't beat. It's 1 of only 2 accommodations on Monte da Guia. (The other is immediately adjacent, so if there are guests there, you will have neighbors very close.) Sitting out on the deck, looking out at the Hortal port and at Pico Island, with views of Mount Pico, was a highlight of our trip. 3 minute drive down the hill to get to the beach at Porto Pim and 5 minutes to get to the harbor. Communication with our host was easy, & he provided helpful suggestions.

A beautiful house in an amazing place

We really enjoyed our stay at the Monte do Guia very much. It is a quite place with just an amazing view. The house provides everything you need, although a dishwasher would be nice to have ;-). It's also bigger than it appears on the photos and provides enough room for a 4 person family. Prices for taxi rides from Horta city centre were inconsistent (some took 5, some took 10 Euros) but you can also walk there within 20-25 minutes (or longer if you climb accross the Monte de Queimado which provides amazing views!!!). Don't be frightened if you hear strange sounds at night: it's the Cagarro birds. It's a wonderful experience to be so close to these rare birds. Also big thanks to Paul who gave us a great welcome and took care of all we needed.

Wonderful home in the best spot on Faial

My husband and I traveled to the Azores for our honeymoon and immediately fell in love with the Casa da Guia. The location is perfect - nestled on Monte da Guia with beautiful views of Pico and easy access to hiking trails, Porto Pim beach and the aquarium. Only a short walk or drive to Horta and there are restaurants, shopping and activities galore. We explored other parts of the island and were grateful for Zelda's local recommendations for things to do and places to eat. We enjoyed having wine on the deck or hiking to the top and watching the sunset on the cliffs facing west. Thank you, Zelda for sharing your home with us and for being such a generous host! We were delighted with the bottle of wine upon arrival and thank you for arranging for us to attend the Fado. We look forward to returning to Faial and staying in this home again! All the best.

Perhaps the best views on the island of Faial

This property offers perhaps the best view on the island of Faial. Every morning we awoke to the sound of birds and roosters and went out to the deck to watch the sunrise. The view of both Pico island and the Horta marina was stunning. We watched sailboats in the harbor in the morning and enjoyed the solitude of this property. While the house is relatively small, it offers many amenities, including a washing machine (but no dryer), a coffee maker, a microwave oven, and an outdoor brick oven. There is not a lot of room inside the house to casually lounge. So, if you are looking for a place to just hang around, this might not be the place. However, the outside deck and table offered plenty of space with a great view. I would recommend fans in the property as during the day, it was rather warm. There was a nice breeze at night. Any issues that we faced were quickly resolved by the hostess. She was thoughtful, attentive, and very responsive to our needs and concerns. If you are looking for a quiet hillside retreat with breathtaking views, this is the property.

Einsam und ruhig und trotzdem stadtnah…

Wir haben vor allem die sonnige Terrasse und die wunderbare Aussicht sehr genossen. Der alte Hafen Porto Pim mit Strand und Restaurants ist in 20 Gehminuten erreichbar, der Hafen in 25 Minuten, trotzdem wohnt man sehr ruhigbm und mitten in der Natur.

Horta, Monte de Guia

Wir hatten eine angenehme Woche in der Casa de Guia. Das kleine Haus liegt in Alleinlage auf der Halbinsel Monte de Guia, nebenan ist in direkter Nachbarschaft noch ein kleines Appartment, das allerdings nicht belegt war. Die Einrichtung empfanden wir als eher spartanisch, die Schlafzimmer sind relativ klein und auch der Wohn-Ess-Raum ist klein. Wir hatten glücklicherweise gutes Wetter. Die Küche ist zur Versorgung ausreichend gut ausgestattet. Es gibt einen großen Kühlschrank mit Gefrierabteil und einen gut funktionierenden Herd, die Dusche bot zu jeder Zeit ausreichend heißes Wasser. Die Terrasse mit dem großen Tisch ist ein hervorragender Aufenthaltsort mit Blick auf den Pico, Horta mit der Marina und natürlich das Meer. Es wäre aber schön, wenn noch ein paar mehr bequeme Stühle oder Liegen dagewesen wären. Es gibt einen kleinen Waschraum mit Waschmaschine. Paul verwaltet das Haus und ist eine absolute Perle ;) Insgesamt ist es ein besonderes Haus, vor allem aufrund der Lage. Wir sind mit dem Taxi vom Flughafen angereist, Sonntags 17 Euro, Samstag 15 Euro. Ansonsten sind wir zu Fuß in den gut ausgestatteten Supemarkt in Horta gelaufen (ca. 30 min), in den Hafen braucht man ca. 20 Minuten, der Strand ist nur gut 10 min entfernt.

Le privilège d'une maison en surplomb de l'océan avec vue sur Horta et le Pico

Une des maisons parmi les plus réjouissantes et rares que nous ayons connues, du fait de son emplacement unique : au milieu de la nature (celle du parc de Monte Guia) avec un grand nombre d'oiseaux, notamment les serins tout jaunes, les rouge-gorge et merles emplis d'ardeur, les mouettes ordinaires, les puffins dont les cris entre pleurs et miaulements nous ont intrigué les premiers soirs ; en surplomb de l'océan et avec vues directes sur les lumières de Horta à gauche, sur le cône volcanique du Pico à droite, sur l'île de São Jorge en face. C'est comme être au premier rang d'une loge, sans rien ni personne qui vienne contrarier le regard ou la contemplation. Hormis les oiseaux, c'est donc un silence parfait dont on bénéficie dans cette maison ou sur la terrasse. La maison elle-même est fonctionnelle, propre, bien aménagée, avec tout le confort moderne, dont le descriptif de l'annonce donne une idée précise. Le gérant, en l'occurrence Paul, a été tout à fait accueillant, et disponible via WhatsApp ou le téléphone (dont le numéro figure dans l'annonce) pour un conseil ou une demande.

The best view on Faial

Perfect sized house for the two of us. The view was absolutely amazing. We spent a lot of time on the deck enjoying coffee at sunrise, or just watching the boats and savoring the solitude. You can walk (downhill) into the town of Horta but beware, you need to walk uphill to get back! Plenty of restaurants and shops and the Porto Pim beach in the town of Horta. You will need a car/scooter to explore this island but it is so worth it. We recommend hiking the breathtaking caldera, visiting the Capelinhos volcano museum, soaking up the sun at the beautiful Faja black sand beach and of course, the Gin Do Mar at St. Peter's Cafe!

Preço-qualidade completamente desajustado em relação à oferta da moradia. 1 - de uma forma geral, moradia sem conforto. Quartos cama pequenos, sofás super desconfortáveis; 2- Casa de banho com porta de poliban por arranjar; 3- Casa de banho com tampa de sanita colada com cola fraca à loiça, constantemente a soltar-se; 4- Casa entregue com sujidade: muito pó em todas as divisões, loiça com gordura e com lagartixas mortas dentro dos armários da loiça; 5- Torradeira com ferrugem. Impossível de utilizar; 6- grelha da churrasqueira enferrujada, sem condições de confecionar alimentos; 7- Porta da rua com problemas na fechadura; 8- Toalhas de casa de banho amareladas; Resumindo, casa sem qualidade para o valor pedido. No máximo vale 70 euros dia em época alta.

Perfect stay in Horta

A small but lovely house at the most beautiful location in Faial. Close to Porto bim beach and some restaurants. Back to the house is a walk up the hill and stairs but not to steep and nice for an evening walk. In august i recommend to hire a car or scooter in advance because everything was booked.

Die Lage das Hauses ist atemberaubend!

Wir hatten ein einen sehr entspannten Aufenthalt auf den Azoren, das Haus ist mit allem ausgestattet, um sich selbst zu versorgen. Die Vermieterin war im Vorfeld und auch während des Aufenthaltes immer hilfsbereit und erreichbar. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und würden sehr gern wieder kommen!

Unbeschreiblich schöne Unterkunft!

Wir waren für 6 Nächte in dieser wunderbaren Unterkunft. Die Vermieterin ist sehr sehr nett und zuvorkommend, außerdem hat sie ein paar Geheimtips für Wanderungen, Restaurants etc. Das Haus hat alles was das Herz begehrt, aber einfach unschlagbar ist die Terrasse! Der Blick auf Pico und Horta ist unbeschreiblich! Allgemein ist die Lage ein Traum. Man ist ganz alleine auf dieser vorgelagerten Halbinsel.. Das Haus ist wirklich empfehlenswert!! 5 von 5 Sterne!
