About this property
Country serenity 15 min from OSU campus
This darling, clean 700 square foot cottage house sits on 7 acres and is just 15 minutes from OSU campus and 3.5 miles from Lake McMurtry East. Get away from the hustle and bustle and come let us share our slice of heaven with you! Taxes are less out here too - you don't have to pay the 4% city or 7% accommodation taxes when you book with us since we're outside city limits.
The stars are bright on a clear night and you never know when deer will come through. If you're a bird watcher there are plenty of beautiful birds to enjoy. Early in the morning rabbits tend to run about. We installed a fire pit area in Sept 2023 and Johnny built four redwood chairs for the area which is great for star gazing too.
One bedroom, one bath, kitchenette, refrigerator, microwave, stove. Queen bed with SertaRest gel memory foam mattress topper. Queen hide a bed. Linens provided. Basic cookware, utensils and dish ware. Central h/a.
Stillwater is where the Land Run began and we have been having fun decorating the cottage with this in mind. In August 2023 we started putting little price tags on some of the treasures we've used for decorations. If you want to purchase an item remove the price tag and leave it with cash or a check and take the item with you. This helps encourage our "picking". We know you'll enjoy our place as much as we do.

The property left a fantastic impression—spacious, welcoming, impeccably clean, and wonderfully private. Every need was thoughtfully met, making the experience truly outstanding.
Loved the country setting of the property. The cottage was very cute and cozy with a comfortable bed and pillows! Stayed with a friend for a concert and had no problem getting an uber from the cottage. Dawnette was very easy to communicate with and very quick to respond! I have to give praise to Dawnette we were in town for the CCR concert and all the hotels and vacation rentals were price gouging and she did not do that with her property. There are good people in the world still!! Highly recommend staying her if you are in town visiting!!
Out of town where it’s so peaceful and quiet! A cute little cottage filled with antiques, it’s just the right size for us and our teenage son. We enjoyed seeing the goats and chickens, and the dogs were friendly but not a nuisance. The host was very easy to communicate with, especially after we realized we left a bag!
This house is on the far north side of town off a gravel road in the country. It’s very quiet and peaceful! It’s located near two other houses that have goats, roosters and a couple friendly dogs. While it felt clean, it was really hard to know since it is FULL of antique furniture, vintage decor, and it’s clearly an older cottage. If you like feeling like you’re at your MeeMaw’s house out in the country this is the perfect place! Communication with the host was easy and fast, check in/out was simple and our stay was uneventful.
It was a great spot, that was just enough away from the busyness of the city, but perfect to run to for groceries, etc.
Thank you Dawnette for your kindness & your wonderful oatmeal cookies, and it sure was so nice of you having the cottage ready a day early (since we had a last minute change of plans)!

Peace and Quiet
I wound up staying 13 nights and sincerely appreciated the quiet of a country setting. The host was exceptional and very responsive to my needs and requests.
The host made our stay very welcome and easy. It was a cute one bedroom with everything you might need including the very thoughtful homemade muffins and farm fresh eggs. We appreciated everything.
Thank you again.
2nd time at property. Quick trip to Stillwater to visit our son. Love that’s it’s off and away but very close to the campus also. Just like last time lover the peace and serenity. Property owners are also a joy to work with and very accommodating. Excellent property we will continue to use if available!
We didn’t spend much time at the property because it was our daughter’s college graduation. however, the home was lovely and the host left us homemade cookies!
Very enjoyable stay. Came to Stillwater for a wedding. The property was just as described, quiet and clean. We forgot our pillows at home and were worried theirs would be uncomfortable as some other vrbos pillows are. Nope, even had nice pillows! Would definitely recommend this place and will stay there again on our next trip. We caught fireflies at night and enjoyed the homemade cookies and farm eggs as well as the pets!
Our first vrbo rental and we enjoyed it so much. The location was so peaceful. With 3 kids and two small dogs hotels can be crazy and we hate having to try to keep them quiet. Renting this cottage was the best decision. The owner was so helpful, easy to get hold of. The little touches like fresh eggs and homemade cookies we a nice addition, Defiantly would go back.
This cottage was simply perfect. We felt right at home. Easy self check-in, super clean and hospitable, thoughtful, nonintrusive hosts. We arrived to fresh, homemade cookies and goat milk soap. We had everything we needed including a smile-inducing, super sweet, well-behaved dog that only came over when my kid beckoned him. Bed was comfy, shower huge and luxurious. The only things I could hear at night were crickets and owls. One of the first vacations I actually left feeling rested and relaxed. Will definitely be back!

Great hosts and cottage
My husband , daughter and I were in Stillwater to visit family. I wanted a place to be able cook and hang out with everyone. We got that and so much more. The cottage was really quaint and cute and comfortable.
The homemade cookies were delicious.
Johnny , Dawnett and their son went out of the way to meet our needs.
My husband had some last minute business he needed to take care of when we got there, which required internet access. When we had trouble connecting , their son , a student at OSU, came in to assist and when we still had trouble they ordered a new router for the cottage. They all went above and beyond as hosts and are the nicest people. The wooded yard we walked in and the hammock and the swing were really peaceful. We played the board games that were there and my teenage nephews now love Clue and Connect Four. We really enjoyed our stay.
Thank you for sharing your cottage with us. Next time when head that we plan on staying with you again if you'll have us.

Stayed during OSU graduation
We stayed 1 night, which was so helpful. Even though the cottage is a bit far out of town, it wasn’t so far that is caused a problem. Dawnett notified us when the cottage was ready, a few hours early, and allowed us to enter and drop our things off before it was dark after graduation. Also very helpful! I also really appreciated her notice before arrival about all the pets but how much care they gave to keeping them from bothering us. They were not a bit of trouble and since we just aren’t animal people, we really appreciated that as well.
If you are a soft bed person, you will be very comfortable in the bed with the foam (I think, but very soft whatever it’s made of) topper on the mattress. The internet speed is pretty slow, but we reminded ourselves we were in the country and since we were only there 1 night didn’t worry about it. There was plenty of coffee provided to brew in the morning before we left, which was great. And there was a very nice selection of toiletries in the bathroom. The sitting area was comfy and I am sure the little kitchen would be fine for some light meals. We just didn’t need to use it since we were there such a short time.
The positives of this property include a very nice owner who was very responsive to my needs, she left home-made cookies, fruit, and fresh eggs, and many amenities in the bathroom. The negatives include very poor internet, so poor, I could not reliably even reply to emails. If you need to get any kind of work done, the internet is not reliable enough. Additionally, I had very poor cell reception, which again, was a problem for productivity. Something I found particularly upsetting was that the bath towels smelled like cigarette smoke. I have the nose of a Bloodhound, so maybe some people would not notice. I also ended up throwing many things away that were 1-2 years expired in the refrigerator which was unbecoming. Lastly, something to be aware of is that she has two dogs that run around. This in itself is fine, however, I considered bringing my dog, and I'm glad I didn't. The dogs there barked and ran at me which would have upset my dog. So, overall, if you want a cute place in the country and you do not need to be productive, this would likely work well.
