About this property
Cottage with terrace by river in natural park
Spacious and authentic holiday home on a river in the Morvan Natural Park, at the foot of the medieval town of Vezelay. Highlight in Burgundy. Canoes and bicycles available. Beautiful hiking area.
For those who are interested in history and religion, Saint Père sous Vézelay is a discovery. Walking on old pilgrims' roads you walk through the most beautiful nature. Vézelay, a medieval town that was the starting point of the pilgrimage route to Santiago, has a special monastery church, dedicated to Mary Magdalene, a thousand years old. Saint Père is located in the Morvan Natural Park, the heart of Burgundy, 200 km south-east of Paris. The houses are also suitable for holidaying together with family or friends. And from autumn to spring for individual sabbaticals.
The 'farmhouse' has a garden at the front and is situated on a path to the river. The terrace is on the river. On the other side of the path is an old water mill that has not been in use since time immemorial. Once upon a time it was a coming and going of farmers who had their grain grinded there. Nowadays you only hear the water clattering through the ruin. The fact that the house was once a farmer's, is evident from small things like the rings in the walls where animals were stuck. The grange, which has since been attached to the house (1852 stands above a window), was the barn.
The authentic and comfortably furnished house can accommodate up to 7 people. In the 'basement' on the ground floor (accessible via a staircase in the kitchen), you will find the toilet and the bathroom (both are new) and a washing machine. Kitchen and living room are heated with wood stoves, and if it is really cold, there are electric heaters below and above. There is wireless internet.
Behind the large kitchen is a cozy living room (a bed). In this room you will find an extensive collection of LPs (different genres).
Upstairs is a bedroom with two beds, and the spacious landing, separated by a curtain, also used as a bedroom for two people.
A few years ago the house was radically renovated. The old grange has been pulled at the house. Since then, the new, very spacious living room on the first floor on the river, you have a beautiful view, on the old bridge and nature on the other side of the river. As a result, the house has not only become nicer and more rural, it has also become a lot bigger. The new living room is approximately 7 meters long, 5 meters wide and 5 meters high. The beautiful roof construction of old beams has remained clearly visible. In the living room is a small floor, the 'sleeping loft', with a double bed and tumbled windows overlooking the river. Click here for the map.
With a staircase you come to the ground floor, a large room with patio doors to the terrace on the river. This way we can enjoy even more of home and place. With the two of you have a lot of space, and also vacation with friends is now a great pleasure: the lusts of each other, but because of the space, not the burden. It should be noted that the sanitary facilities would still have to be shared with those friends. However, they are accessible independently. And there is a handy second kitchen in the ground floor of the grange if you want to eat on the river.
Both in front of and behind the house you can sit outside. The river Cure flows behind the house. From the terrace you have a beautiful view of the river and the rolling hills, with woods and farmland across the road. On the terrace (called the bin) you can barbecue (barbecue available). For the tenants lie in the grange canoes, with paddles and life jackets. The canoes are suitable for sailing on the fast flowing river Cure. The water flows quickly, but not so fast that you have to have canoe experience. Beautiful tours can be made on the Cure. You can also poodle in the Cure. There are also two mountain bikes. You can make beautiful bike rides in the area. There are plenty of quiet asphalt roads on which cycling is good, and nearby mountain bike trails have been plotted - paths through forests and meadows have a much wider range than walking. In the orchard (2005) which is a few hundred meters from the house, it is good badminton. Trees with ripe fruits may be picked. The house is situated on a quiet street of a small village. Around the corner are a bakery, a butcher, a small supermarket, a pub and a restaurant.
Tenants will bring their own bed linen.
