About this property

This Tuscan farmhouse is located in one of the most beautiful breathtaking position, over the Lucca countryside. Giannello is a very special property for eight people, with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. It has been tastefully restored in a nice country style in full respect of Tuscan tradition, maintaining the old beamed ceilings and antique cotto floors in most of the rooms. At the same time, it has been supplied with modern equipments, such as Sat-TV and wi-fi internet connection. A particular feature of this property is the large, sunny terrace in front of the house, furnished for al-fresco dining ideal to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. A wood oven is available to guests, to be used with the support of the house manager, in order to allow guests to fully taste and enjoy the extraordinary local food. Both from the house and from the large swimming pool there are breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside of olive groves and vineyards, as far as the town of Lucca in the distance. From the property it is also possible to see the beautiful historical villas, for which this part of the Lucchese countryside is renowned, and in particular the Villa Reale, where Elisa Bonaparte, Napoleon’s sister and Princess of Lucca, resided. This farmhouse is also conveniently located as there is a bread store 1 km away and a restaurant 1,5 km.
The beautiful pool has a salt water system.

Beautiful Tuscan Farmhouse

Giannello is as described, an amazing 1500s farmhouse comfortably furnished for a relaxing holiday. The photos do not do it justice. It is glorious! The kitchen is fully outfitted for cooking and the outdoor table offers an outstanding dining area with a panoramic view. Be prepared for a dramatic drive down to the house from the street. It is a steep twisty hillside gravel path. The location is great for day trips around Tuscany and convenient to food stores. Lorenzo met us at the house and was helpful with any questions we had. You definitely need a car to stay here. You are 20 minutes from Lucca and only 5 minutes by car from a couple of restaurants, but don’t expect to walk. To clarify, there are 4 bedrooms. Three have king sized beds and one has 2 twins. One of the bathrooms is on the first floor. All of the bedrooms are upstairs. 3 bedrooms share one bathroom and one bedroom is en-suite. The rooms are all lovely and comfortable and there is plenty of common space to spread out in. The grounds are stunning and beautifully maintained. The pool is splendid. Loved our stay!

There is a narrow road leading to the property but after you're there you feel like in a paradise. From the house is stunning view over Lucca valley and neighbours are far enough for quiet and private holiday. Swimming pool is deep and long. Kitchen is real Tuscan style. Big dining table outside was in our use every morning and often in the evenings, too, if we didn't came back very late. Giannello is ideally located pretty close to Lucca, Pisa, Pistoia, Viareggio and not too far away from Florence. During our two weeks holiday we managed also to see Elba, Siena, Chianti, Porto Venere, Abetone and many other places around. Still we spent time on poolside and enjoyed the stunning views from the house.

We all agreed our stay in Matraia, at Giannello, was the perfect holiday! - The villa was very clean and the beds comfortable. The views were wonderful and the whole experience of staying in Tuscany was fantastic. Before arrival the booking was handled very efficiently and responses were prompt.

I can still hear the sound of the churches' bells and the birds. It was ipnotic and we completely forgot the rumors of a big town. I wish I could still be there..
