Parking was easy and the place was remarkably clean! I’d advise bringing extra laundry detergent and such just in case as we couldn’t use the washer. Everything else was amazing - highly recommend!
A beautiful cottage in an equally beautiful location. The area is stunning and we could not have asked for a nicer place to stay. We had a lovely dinner at the local Chequers Inn. We will be back! Thank you.
The location and cleanliness of the property were outstanding. Both beds (upstairs and futon downstairs) are badly in need of replacement, and the TV is so old that it has a constant blue tint. The place would receive a 5 star if there were better mattresses, new TV, and a small table and chairs were added near the front window.
The only negative thing I have to say is the bed was not terribly comfortable. Too hard. But maybe some people like that. Otherwise, this place was wonderful. Very clean and so quaint English countryside. If you're looking for a romantic getaway, this would be ideal.
We arrived in Cassington and had trouble locating the address. We called the owner who referred us to her property manager who told us he could not see where we rented the place. I provided proof and then he indicted that VRBO must have a glitche in their system , sorry….the cottage is already rented for the weekend. I had to find another place an hour away !!!! Never had this experience before with VRBO… not happy about it….

Hi Mark,
Thanks for your review, and I am sorry about what happened. As you said in your review, we did not receive the booking from VRBO before your arrival due to a glitch in the system, and we were as surprised and frustrated as you were. We did our very best to accommodate you in another place nearby for the duration of your stay, but your wife didn't accept our offer. And to be fair, we accommodated you in one of our flats “free of charge” for the first night until you found somewhere else to stay, and we issued a full refund and multiple apologies, for something which wasn't even our fault. I can see that our help and free accommodation didn’t count as anything as you have given us a 1 star, again for something which was not our fault and not a reflection on the quality of accommodation or our service.
I am sorry about what happened, and that's not the way that we normally welcome our guests. I hope we can offer you a more pleasant stay next time.

Perfect central location close to surrounding villages. Lovely cottage with all the amenities you will need. A nice and quiet place with little noise from the roads. Very chilled and relax, couldn't ask for more. I would stay here again if I am in the area again. Ideal for Blenheim Palace Christmas fayre and lights. Would recommend.
This place is an enigma. The owners have built two very nice cottages , as a duplex, side by side and they are very tastefully done and well appointed ; and an effort has been made to make their external lines totally compatible with the nearby Dove House. Very well done .
Communication from the owner was poor.
But the absolute strangest thing is that there is a HUGE PILE ( about 25 to 30 cubic meters) of firewood just one meter form the back door which is also DANGEROUSLY locked. No access or egress from there. No view except of firewood but from the upstairs it is very nice . What a waste of what could be a lovely outdoor sitting area and pleasant aspect
Such a pile of flammable material just a metre from public accommodation is possibly illegal.
Quite bizarre

We urge the owners to either explain it or move it. AND to provide a key to the back door
Pros- setting, presentation of cottage, location, comfort.
Cons -Main room has a large picture window which is blocked off with nettles and stored firewood. This is weird to look out on and means the downstairs is very dark.
We had a lovely relaxing weekend here, cottage had everything we needed, location is beautiful and handy for visiting Oxford and Blenheim Palace. We’ll be back!
The property was well placed to visit Oxford City and surrounding areas from a typical small and quiet village. We used car (park and ride) and cycled into town(half hour) along cycle paths.
The property had superb views at the front of village church and garden, but rear view through French windows was totally obscured by a wood store
The perfect place to take your mind off all things coronavirus!
Beautiful maisonette barn, with lovely surroundings. Links into town are easy and cabs are very friendly.
The barn itself was cute and clean, just the ideal place for a couple to unwind and relax.
Lovely cottage and just a 10 minute walk from the bus stop where there are buses to Oxford and Witney. Blenheim Palace close by too. Cottage has all you need too would stay again
Spotlessly clean and very well appointed cottage, warm and cosy in a village setting yet with easy access to Oxford. A very enjoyable stay in lovely surroundings. We would recommend this cottage as an excellent base from which to explore Oxford, Blenheim Palace and the Cotswolds.

Hello, we are Matthew and Louise and we have 5 grown-up boys and a dog called Daisy. We bought Dove House in 2010 and have spent the last years renovating it. We love being in a country environment but only a few minutes outside of Oxford. There is lots of history surrounding the house and its relationship with Oxford around the time of the reformation. We have a friendly pub about 2 minutes walk away and the views of the pretty village church make it an appealing place to spend a few days.
