About the host

Hosted by Kim Meyer

Host profile image
Kim, who is from New Orleans, Louisiana, has been a frequent visitor to Gatlinburg since early childhood. After experiencing the beauty of the mountains, views, waterfalls and all of the activities offered in the area, she knew she wanted to have a vacation home here. When the cabin became available, she convinced her husband, John, who is from Lafayette, Louisiana, to buy and renovate it. Black Bear Ridge was born and for the past ten years has been upgraded and kept in pristine condition. Our cabin had been with a rental company but we decided to change to VRBO. We hope you give us a chance to introduce you to a true mountain experience.

Why they chose this property

Once you come to Gatlinburg, you will know why we chose this area; the friendly people, entertainment, which includes all of the amenities located in both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, outdoor activities, shopping and wonderful dining. Some of these amenities include Dollywood, Splash Country water park, the aquarium, Titanic, The Island, which includes unique shops, dining and a 200 foot ferris wheel. The dining includes a vast array of restaurants such as The Park, Cherokee Grill, Smoky Mountain Brewery and No Way Jose's. The activities include hiking in the Smokies, ice skating ( year round), skiing, white water rafting, tubing, zip lining, shopping in the arts and crafts community where local artisans create and sell their crafts. For the nonhiker, the Motor Nature Trail is an option for those wanting to view the Smokies from the comfort of their vehicle, which is located at traffic light number 8, Airport Road.

What makes this property unique

One cannot help but fall in love with Black Bear Ridge, an authentic, lovely log cabin. Staying in this cabin affords you the true mountain experience. Upon waking in the morning and smelling the crisp mountain air while sitting out on the deck surrounded by nature (and sometimes viewing wildlife), you'll soon feel your cares drift away.
