About this property

A fabulous seaside cottage in an idyllic position with stunning views all around and a 5 minute walk

Powillimount Cottage is a charming three bedroom, traditional stone built Galloway cottage that has been renovated for 21st century comfort. It is surrounded by cornfields and situated 5 minute walk from a fabulous dog friendly beach. It is quiet and secluded with lovely walks straight from the door. It is semidetached but you would not know it as the walls are very thick and Arthur a retired gardener lives next door (a lovely local character, who will no doubt charm you)!. The Cottage has idyllic seaviews, Southerness Lighthouse and the Lake District Mountains to the front and Criffel, Galloway's finest mountain behind. We get lots of repeat bookings from people who enjoy this very special bit of the Dumfries and Galloway countryside, the wildlife, the scenery, mountain biking (15 mins from two of the 7 Stanes) and Birdwatching (10 mins from Mersehead), or Golf (Southerness Championship Golf course is 10 mins away) to name but a few of the many attractions.. Powillimount is a comfortable cottage with one (superking size) double and one twin bedroom upstairs (steep stairs) and a single bedroom with a regular sized double bed and ensuite bathroom downstairs, along with a further shower room and lavatory. There is a large open plan living area with a cosy woodburning stove (though heating is provided!) and door leading out to the private, enclosed west facing garden where you can enjoy a BBQ watching the sun set behind Criffel. . It is a totally unspoilt region that revels in it's uniqueness that also attracts many artists who draw on it for inspiration. It really is the perfect place to get away from it all. Once you've been, you'll want to come back!

Thank you for your review, I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay and am only sorry that the boiler broke and that the first engineer who came out on the Monday thought he had fixed it but on Tuesday it was obvious that he hadn't managed to. Thank goodness they came again the following day and got it up and running. I understand that the wood we gave you for the woodturning stove managed to keep the cottage warm and thank goodness the shower is electric so wasn't affected. We are so sorry that this happened and that you were so understanding about it all and will be in touch with you separately to make recompense.

Cozy well appointed cottage in picturesque location

Comfortable beds, beautiful sheets, nice bathroom for relaxing in after a long walk. Plenty of space for sitting around in the evening. Well equipped kitchen, great views, walked along the beach for lunch at the pub. We loved it.
