Farm Stay Cottage on Organic Farm

The farm stay cottage is an attractive, hand-crafted 500 square foot wooden guest house – completely self-contained and away from the main house. It overlooks our vegetable garden. It is landscaped with lush, tropical plantings to insure your privacy. Decorated in simple and tasteful island style, the cottage is fully and comfortably equipped for any length stay-with full bathroom with shower and tub inside, outside shower for after beach (or anytime– we so prefer guests us this exclusively), dining area, kitchenette and large covered lanai with grill.

The cottage is airy and bright, with big windows and many shutters to let in the abundant trade winds. The kitchenette is perfect for vacation cooking—with small refrigerator, double sink, two burner electric stove top, large convection toaster oven, coffee maker, coffee grinder and blender. There is a smart TV with a DVD player and a large selection of movies for your enjoyment, shelves full of books, puzzles and games, and baskets overflowing with diverse magazines for beach reading. There is wi-fi in the cottage.

Imagine enjoying your hot coffee or cocktail on your lanai . . . a lazy late afternoon with a book and a nap listening to the palm fronds rustling . . barbequing on the deck after a full day playing on an exquisite Kauai beach – the possibilities are endless! Kauai is an amazing island to explore, North Country Farms cottage — a charming place to call home while you do so!

We supply beach mats, beach towels, beach chairs, boogie boards, loads of paperback books, an eclectic magazine selection and a cooler for your many island adventures.

We are an eco-friendly destination. We have made a conscious choice to operate our endeavor in a completely green and sustainable manner. This means, among other things, that we keep our garden and orchards pesticide-free and our cottage insecticide-free. Subsequently you might see insects in our cottage, along with their charming “predators” the geckos. We are a working organic farm – the perfect destination for those seeking an off-the-beaten-path alternative to the hotel and resort experience.

Please note that your stay includes your own self-contained cottage with covered lanai, surrounded by lush landscaping and the ambiance of overlooking our market garden. We are happy to deliver a complimentary basket of seasonal farm produce to you during your stay, should you like – just let us know when you check in! As a working farm, we respectfully ask that guests not wander the farm on their own. However, we are happy to offer in-depth farm tours. They last about an hour long and cost $25 per person. To insure that we have time while you are our guests, please let us know in advance.

Paradise Found

Our stay at North Country Farm was everything we'd hoped for and more. It was comfortable, peaceful, private, and beautiful. We stayed 10 days and this time in Kauai we did less and enjoyed it more. Lee was the consumate host and is admired for her very intentional way of life and the refugee she's created. We are so grateful to have discovered such a haven.

Magical cottage on an organic farm in Kilauea!

We had a wonderful stay at Lee's cottage on her organic farm, the cottage had an authentic Hawaiian feel with large windows overlooking the beautiful landscaping and island breezes blowing in. We woke up each morning to a chorus of birds, so amazing! The place was very comfortable, charming and private. Lee was very kind and even upgraded us to a larger cottage. Highly recommended, we loved our stay there!

Such a wonderful, lovely little cottage full of charm. The lanai is perfect for taking in the mornings with coffee (that I bought from Kaua’i Coffee and ground thanks to the coffee grinder in the cottage). The kitchen is adequately equipped for smaller meals with a large assortment of small appliances (but no microwave, FYI). But perhaps my favorite part was the outdoor shower and the view from it, day or night, can’t be beat (Tip: For more light to shower at night, leave the bedroom lights on and angle the louvers down towards the shower). I really enjoyed my stay here and Lee was very welcoming and communication was easy. I would just like to add for anyone considering this cottage, that there is no A/C, but there are two ceiling fans and an additional fan in the bedroom storage area.

Intimate farm cottage 5 stars

Private cottage located on a farm owned by a lovely woman and her family. Perfect location on the north shore (which in my opinion is the most beautiful), short drive to Kapaa and Princeville as well as many beaches. We loved the outdoor shower and even preferred using it for regular bathing. Another perk of staying on a farm is the fresh produce. My boyfriend Dave picked fresh kale for his daily salad. Would definitely recommend staying here over a hotel if you want a more intimate vacation.

Perfect Garden Cottage, quiet and convenient

Lovely quiet stay at the cottage, which as all of the comforts of home. Easy living at its best! Many beaches within a few miles. The town of Kilauea is 5 minutes away by car with good facilities with a main grocery store and a locally-sourced one. Several restaurants and coffee places too, as well as galleries and gift shops. Kaua'i is a small island with most places 30-60 minutes away. We found it easy to get around and find the places we wanted to go to. Views around the island are spectacular. The owner was welcoming and quick to respond to any questions or to supply our needs. Highly recommended accommodations and island.

Peaceful Tranquility

Aloha to all. Our stay at the Organic Farm Cottage was delightful. Our host, Lee, was available to answer any questions before and during the trip. After exploring some exquisite beaches and awe inspiring Na’Pali State Park we would come back to the cottage where we could find the comforts needed. We made all our meals there and enjoyed them on the lanai looking out at the garden, birds, and other tropical plants. Coffee on the lanai was a great way to start the day. Cats come visit outside. I would return and recommend this to others. Mahalo!

Our kind of Hawai’i!!

When we think of the kind of place we want to stay while in Hawai’i…the North Country Farm Garden Cottage is it! A thoughtfully designed, charming & cozy cottage with warm wood all around, slatted shutters for cross breezes, very comfortable bed, and tasteful decor. This is our kind of Hawai’i! On top of the fact that you are staying on an organic farm, with a family that has been lovingly working for a long time adds to the experience. We are not condo people, so this adorable place that Lee has created is exactly the way want to relax and enjoy our Kauai vacation. Friendly farm kitties, fresh greens picked from the farm, and a stunningly beautiful variegated hibiscus out the cottage lanai make this spot magical. I never wanted to leave! Thank you Lee. We will be back!

Fabulous Farm Stay

What an incredibly special place. My daughter and I stayed here for 4 days and it was absolutely amazing. Such a peaceful property with amazing vegetation and variety of birds. Even a few very sweet cats that enjoyed the front porch with us. Definitely use the incenses while enjoying the porch though, as the mosquitos were a bit ramped. The structure of the of cottage itself was breathtaking; the incredible woodwork details and efficient use of space made our time that much more enjoyable. The outdoor shower was unbeatable and such a great tropical experience. Lee was such a wonderful host as well, extremely responsive and helpful. There is also a great binder in the home with ample suggestions for things to do and eat nearby, which we tried many of. The location is wonderful and private from the larger towns, but very close to Hanalei (our personal favorite) & Lihue (where the airport is), and easier enough to drive to other areas of the island to explore. We hope to come back again one day to enjoy this magical place. Mahalo!!

Peaceful Cottage Stay

This cottage is exactly as it is described, which is so helpful. We were uninterested in a resort-style vacation and this felt so far away from that. It is situated on a working farm, so there was mowing, gardening, etc. happening around us, but it didn't feel intrusive and we were out almost all day every day anyway. The cottage was homey, simple, and comfortable. The kitchen was small, but we fit a surprising amount of groceries in the little fridge! We easily made tacos, coffee, eggs, toast, mac & cheese, etc. We loved the all-wood interior, the breeze coming through the shutters, and the lovely outdoor shower filled with tropical plants. We enjoyed several of the movies, and relaxed on the lanai daily. The farm is very close to Kilauea, and we got into Hanalei every day as well. The best thing was that Lee had a binder with recommendations of beaches, restaurants, shopping, grocery stores, etc. and that made it easier to weed out the junk and get to the good stuff. I do recommend bringing ear plugs as the roosters start making noise very, very early in the morning! Thank you, Lee. We're recommending the cottage to others and would love to return one day.

Peaceful stay close to favorite North Shore sites

I always enjoy staying in Kilauea when I visit the North Shore of Kauai. This was my first time staying on an actual farm and it was wonderful. The serene nature of this cottage and its close proximity to all of my favorite places (e.g., Kilauea town/lighthouse, Hanalei, Tunnels Beach) made for a relaxing four days. Lee was the perfect host - even if we never saw her - welcoming us via text and checking in with us to be sure we were enjoying our stay, also via text. On our last night we were even blessed with beautiful flute music wafting across the estate from a gathering of her family. I should also mention how friendly the cat was each time she visited. We couldn't let her into the cottage, but loved her company on the deck.

Perfect!

My husband and I spent 3 nights at North Country Farms. The cottage is welcoming, charming, and perfect in its simplicity. The outdoor shower is to die for! The cottage is landscaped for privacy and overlooks the farm’s main field. Our stay was exactly what we hoped for. It is also a clear expression of Lee and her family’s vision for organic farming and living. We enjoyed hiking, swimming, and exploring the north shore during the day… it’s a great launching off location near Hanalei. And spent evenings grilling fresh fish and veggies and eating dinner on the covered porch. Thank you for creating a fabulous alternative to hotels, resorts and the like. Your space and land were exactly what we needed to recharge!

Quiet and lovely

What a lovely place!

My friend and I spent a lovely week at Lee's place. This cottage is beyond beautiful and perfectly equipped with everything we needed. We loved the fresh fruits and vegetables from the farm and we kind of felt in love with the superfriendly farmcat.

Spectacular getaway cottage that exudes the Aloha spirit

We throughly enjoyed our week long stay at North Country Farms. It’s location on a gorgeous organic farm make this a perfect place to relax and unwind from the day-to-day. The outdoor shower was amazing and we looked forward to using it each night. We did have to live with some mosquitoes on the Lanai but nothing that we weren’t used to as avid campers. The Lanai was still the perfect place to enjoy our morning coffee and listen to the birds. This is the perfect cottage for travelers who love the outdoors and want a more rustic experience that you can not get at a hotel. Lee delivered fresh fruit for juice and salad greens during our stay and they were such a treat. We are already thinking about our return trip to Kauai and will definitely look to stay at North Country Farms again.

Absolute Magic Spot

We had such an incredible time here. Honestly, there is nothing bad I can say about this spot, just a fully glowing review. Clean & comfortable, lush outdoor shower, perfect porch complete with incense - a great home away from home. Cute geckos made it so we saw very few bugs inside the whole 5 days. Right in the middle of a bunch of beaches on the north and east shore so it’s convenient to everywhere. Lee even left us apple bananas and avocados from the property. We will talk about and dream about this place forever ✨ Thank you Lee & fam!

An awesomely unique accommodation!

My girlfriend and I had an amazing time staying at the cottage on Lee's farm! Regrettably we never did cross paths with Lee during our stay, we spent most of our time exploring that beautiful island they call home. The cottage was the perfect size for a couple. Spacious, the bed was comfy (sometimes that can be a rarity with vacation rentals), and the kitchen was well stocked for cooking (admittedly we ate out a lot, but was perfect for making breakfast). The farm is amazing, we absolutely loved falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle and rain. And the outdoor shower! Just awesome. Loved the location too! Very nice to be away from the more touristy areas. Now, if you're the type of person that has a problem with things like mosquitoes, geckos, ants, grasshoppers, or the consistent sounds of chickens this is not the place for you. Personally, we loved it. Except the mosquitoes, they are awful little things lol. Regardless, if you want a rental that's off the beaten path in a fantastic location, stay here.

Great cottage, but rude family member

This little cottage was just what we needed for our small family and was very peaceful. We appreciated the beach toys and the outdoor shower and really enjoyed the location. We did unfortunately have negative interactions with one of the family members that lives on the property - he's quite rude and made us feel very unwelcome (my 5 yr old was scared to explore the farm after running into him). Do not accidentally venture into his portion of the property which is just near the cottage (maybe signs would be helpful). Otherwise we really liked this sweet spot.

Very nice stay at this peaceful retreat. Grounds are wonderful and very quiet at night. We stayed in the Garden Cottage which was well equipped and comfortable. Enjoyed meals on deck and outside shower. Good value, would stay again.

Relaxing Retreat

My husband and I spent 2 weeks at the garden cottage on Lee's beautiful farm. We loved the small, cozy space and the privacy the cottage afforded us on our honeymoon. The kitchenette was well stocked with supplies for our home cooked meals and the outdoor shower was amazing after a long day of exploring. It was the perfect home base for all of our Kauai adventures! Coming back to the cottage quickly felt like coming home. Thank you again Lee for a wonderful time and for sharing your slice of paradise with us!

Farm Fabulous!

This farm was really a cool place to stay. The cabin was charming and secluded, and the outdoor shower was just the best. You are surrounded by vegetation, flowers and bird sounds. We loved the farm cats, too! Lee is a gracious host with an interesting life story. It's really nice to experience Kauai without the big resort vibe attached. Ten points for the compost bucket! There is plenty to do in the area, and if you can figure out the new reservation system for Haena State Park (Napali Coast), it's definitely worth your effort. We highly suggest Rock Quarry Beach, Trilogy Coffee, the Kilauae Farmer's Market on Saturday morning, and the new wine bar & restaurant, Palate. If you get up early like a local, you can snag a spot in the free parking at Haena Beach and swim and snorkel at Tunnels. Amazing stuff.

Fantastic Kauai experience!

My wife and I greatly enjoyed our time at the farm. Lee was a gracious host and the cottage had the perfect amount of space and privacy. It’s a great location to have as a homebase to explore the island. We certainly will stay there again next time we come back!

A little slice of paradise

This lush cottage was just what my husband and I were looking for during our stay near the north shore. We thoroughly enjoyed the sounds of geckos and roosters as we settled into the cottage. Lee was an excellent host and gave us with plenty of privacy during our visit. The outdoor shower is an experience not to be missed!
