Our beautiful villa - your private getaway in Plaka.
​Just bring yourselves, everything else is waiting for you in our luxurious villa.
Your own private pool, jacuzzi, lovely garden, barbecue area, private patios, all with glorious views.
There is crisp fresh linen, cool marble floors and air conditioning in both bedrooms and wonderful views from the balconies across to Spinalonga, the sea and the mountains.
You'll find everything you need for a fabulous holiday at Villa May, a fully equipped kitchen, airy living room, Wi-fi and a Smart t.v. of course, plus a PS3 for games and DVDs as well as books and board games. A fully loaded (with books and audio books) Kindle and iPad are waiting for you at the villa, just bring your own headphones for the iPad.

There are three cats who believe that they belong to the Villa. Apollo, Granny and Hera. Grandson, Granny and mother of Apollo.
They are de flead, wormed and neutered and very friendly.
If you see any others, they are complete chancers!

We are a short stroll away from Plaka, with its great tavernas and the wonderful beach.
Visit beautiful Spinalonga, swim over the sunken town near the causeway in Elounda or hire a bike and ride to Elounda for a long, lazy lunch.
Better still, pack the picnic basket and cool box and find your own secluded beach.

Set in its own grounds in an elevated position overlooking Spinalonga Island and just 750 metres easy walk from the delightful village of Plaka, Villa May has its own private swimming pool as well as a heated jacuzzi.
Plaka, with its quaint old square, superb tavernas, lovely pebble beach beach and a supermarket, offers a peaceful contrast to the nearby harbour of Elounda and the popular resort of Agios Nikolaos a short drive away. The area is ideal for water based activities, biking, walking and sightseeing. The villa is set back from a quiet road with its own parking area. Just to reassure you, the plumbing is the northern European style, just like home.

A little slice of heaven

Perfect accommodation and location. We had a fantastic stay, the villa has everything you need and more. Plaka has it all, beautiful sunrises and outstanding views. We were spoilt for choice with tavernas, you could eat in a different restaurant each night.

Wonderful Holiday

We enjoyed a wonderful 2 weeks in this beautiful villa. A real home from home with everything you could need for a relaxing holiday. Niall was an extremely helpful host in all stages of the process and we were very grateful for all his help. Plaka is a beautiful village easily walkable with lovely tavernas and very friendly people. We would love to return to the villa.

A delightful place

We needed to recharge our batteries after a very hectic time at home and this really hit the spot. Villa May enjoys a quiet and picturesque setting which is not overlooked. The facilities are very good - very much 'home from home' and scrupulously clean . we did not hire a car as the village is just a short walk away. There are a surprising number of good restaurants and the beach is great.

No housekeeping...

Stay 8 days without any housekeeping...we had to clean up the house and changed the bedsheets and cleaned up the rooms..very but experience for Satch a place.

Thank you for your comments. Our house rules explicitly state that for a stay of one week there is no mid week house clean unless you wish to pay for it. For a stay of two weeks, we always provide a mid stay clean.

Private and secluded villa

From booking the villa nearly twelve months in advance , it was a long time waiting, but well the wait. From arriving at the villa, being welcomed by Panagiotis to the time we left two weeks later, everything was magical. The location of the villa is superb, very quiet and private yet just a ten minute walk from the tavernas of Plaka. The villa is well equipped and wants for nothing. We had a very relaxed couple of weeks and would recommend this villa to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat. Thank you Niall & Karen for allowing into your home and for your attentive communication, ensuring our holiday went without a hitch. We will return

Fabulous Villa and Location

The villa, location, pool and gardens are perfect. There were two of us staying and we had a fantastic holiday. The photos really don't do the villa justice as it is so much better in real life. Sitting in the garden looking down to the sea and views around was wonderful. The small village of Plaka is just short walk down the hill and there seemed to be enough Tavernas to visit a different one every day for a month! There are souvenir shops, mini markets and boat trips to Spinalonga. The bigger town of Elounda is about 10 minutes by car and the drive there is very picturesque. Here you can find slightly bigger supermarkets, butchers' shop and fresh fish as well as more shops and restaurants. Well worth a visit or two but we loved Plaka. The beach is large pebbles but there are walkways to get into the sea and plenty of sunbeds and parasols. We had a minor issue whilst staying which was dealt with rapidly with a phone call to the local manager who was lovely. The house has its own cat family living in the gardens they are very friendly, and love being fed and having treats. The only slight concern we had was the depth of the pool which was about 2m deep across the whole main part of the pool. it also shelves very steeply from the small shallow end and steps. I am a good swimmer which was fine for me, but my wife isn't and found it very disconcerting so not good for non or nervous swimmers as you can't just wade into a comfortable depth. Also, the spa was quite difficult to get into despite us having no mobility issues. None of this spoilt our stay but just felt it worth highlighting. Overall, we loved Villa May and highly recommend it.

Tolles Haus zum Relaxen

Wir haben zum zweiten Mal den Aufenthalt im Haus genossen. Das Haus liegt perfekt zum kleinen Ort Plaka und ist doch so abgelegen das man die nötige Ruhe findet. Die Tavernen im Ort sind zu Fuß zu erreichen. Haus, Pool und Garten sind wirklich zu empfehlen. Ein besondere Erwähnung verdient Mandy die sich um jedes Problem sofort kümmert.

A week in Crete

Beautiful little villa within easy walking distance of Plaka. So much to do at the villa with board games, swimming pool (good size) hot tub etc. Its spotlessly clean and the photographs really don’t do it justice. Perfect for a couple or small family.

A wonderful villa in the perfect place

We have been travelling to Elounda for a number of years and love Plaka and after seeing Villa May on FB, we looked it up and decided to book. The photos do not do it justice. It is a 5 minute walk into Plaka with all its gorgeous restaurants and tavernas and a beach. The villa is fully equipped with everything you possibly need. We cooked in a few times and used the bbq, the pool is the perfect size, it’s quiet and relaxing and we will definitely go back and happily recommend. Niall, the owner, kept in touch with us, arranged our transfer to and from and sorted our hire car. He was the perfect host. Special thanks as well to Mandy and Mark. We didn’t see Mark, he was so quiet, but the pool was perfectly cleaned. Mandy met us late when we arrived with a lovely welcome and a basket of goodies and came in half way through the holiday to spruce the place up and our transfer driver George, waited to drop us back in Elounda so we could grab a bite to eat. Simply fabulous.

Tolles Haus in toller Umgebung

Wie hatten einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt im Haus und würden jederzeit wieder buchen. Die Anlage ist Top ausgestattet in einer sehr reizvollen Lage zwischen Meer und Bergen mit dem besonderen Highlight des Whirlpools. Der Service von Mandy und Tony lässt keine Wünsche übrig. perfect location and lovely villa

Just what we wanted - an individual villa with private pool, but less than 10 mins walk from the beach and village with restaurants, bars and mini-markets. The villa was really well organised - lots of useful things provided and some luxuries like a hot tub. Nice also to be welcomed in person. If we wanted to return to Plaka, we'd definitely book this villa again.

Time to relax!

Really lovely villa! Our family of 4, 2 adults and 2 teenagers, had a great chill-out week spending lots of time around the pool. The villa was near enough to walk to several lovely little restaurants in Plaka and spend time on the fab pebble beach. We also did the short- hop boat trip to Spinalonga island and enjoyed exploring it. We were glad to have a car to go to other nearby places - Elounda and Agios Nikolaos- which were bigger and nice to look around and spend a day or evening at. Sad to leave. I think the cats will miss us too as we fed them everyday!

Lovely Villa with all we needed in a great location

We loved this property and can't wait to return. The villa is situated in private and quiet location within easy walking distance to the beach, great restaurants and shops. The well maintained pool, hot tub and the scooter were a welcome addition. Highly recommended.
