Olrig House is a charming historical estate near the beach. It was built by the Sinclairs in the 18th century. There are 60 acres of enchanting forests, wildlife, Victorian walled gardens and fields of grazing horses. The house is a unique blend of elegant charm with comforts of the modern world. The stunning large suites have superking beds, superb organic mattresses, and fireplaces. There are many luxurious sitting areas, and espresso and organic tea facilities in the rooms.
The house hosts a historical library stocked with books on Scotland and the Highlands, a comfortable drawing (living) room with fireplaces, a beautiful golden dining and a large, spacious kitchen with a dining area.
The house can comfortably host up to 12 people, with a maximum of 22 people (there are 10 king/superking beds, 1 double and 1 single bed in a total of 11 bedrooms). We offer the possibility for our skilled staff to prepare breakfasts and dinners for you or you can bring your own.
There are bicycles for use and there is even a professional skate park for youngesters.
Additionally, there is the beautiful Gate House Lodge (Estate Cottage) available for 2-4 persons. It is gracefully located at the entrance of the tree lined driveway and close to the walled garden and the pond with the boathouse.
We are within walking distance of Castletown, which has a small shop, a bakery, a deli and stunning Dunnet Bay beach with the flagstone museum of local history.
Visit the beautiful cliffs and lighthouse of Dunnet Head and the world heritage site of Duncansby Stacks. Beautiful sea view golf courses are nearby and we can provide the golf equipment.
