A very comfortable cottage in a peaceful and verdant setting as well as clean, well furnished and equipped. The owners should be commended not only on adopting the 'Safer Stays' initiative but also going beyond with bookings for the cottage currently taken only for alternate weeks; the 7-day rest between occupancy providing you added peace of mind. The large cake and tea/coffee 'welcome' tray on arrival was much appreciated. We were fortunate to have had good weather so much of our day was outdoors. The time indoors was mostly around the dining table or in the living room with its lovely view, so despite three TVs in the cottage, we barely watched much. Good meals were had at The Bridge in Kentchurch (about 3 miles) along with excellent service from Lizzie, and at the Kilpeck Inn in Kilpeck (about 7 miles), and a visit to Neil Powell butcher's in Ewyas Harold was definitely worthwhile. If you can, do visit the ancient woodland of Puzzle Wood in Coleford for a walk every bit as enchanting as described - stout footwear is a must and booking ahead online is recommended.
