Offering parking, which is something of a novelty in Wells-next-the-Sea, guests may well be tempted to park their car up and stay within the town for the full duration of their stay. Popular with locals and tourists alike, this pretty little coastal town offers a beautiful quay, which lies just opposite Crow’s Nest, a mix of traditional seaside shops and artisan boutiques, great places to eat, potter, shop and more. There’s a narrow gauge railway that runs past the pitch and putt golf course down to the pine woods and wide sandy beach with its candy-coloured beach huts. From the quay itself, there are boat trips to fish or see the seals, and you may also see people “gillying”, the local term for catching crabs by hand line. The harbour is also home to Wells’ water ski club, sailing club and various other nautical pursuits. For a change of pace, hop in your car and head to Hunstanton, known by the locals as “Sunny Hunny”, but make sure you allow the time to explore the pretty coastal villages along the way. There are breathtaking marshes and pristine beaches scattered along the coastline that must be seen to be believed.
History buffs will be spoilt for choice with the medieval city of Norwich, with its fine Norman Castle, the Hanseatic Old Quarter of Kings Lynn, Royal Sandringham, Holkham Hall and the Blickling Estate all within easy reach. Equally, lovers of nature and birds will find a wide range of habitats from which to view the local wildlife. After a day’s sightseeing, you can retire to the sun room or the garden at Crow’s Nest and raise a glass to adventures yet to be had. The owners live nearby, so help is always at hand. House suitable for our family group and children enjoyed cinema room. Shortage of mirrors in suitable locations. Eg by plugs for hairdryer. Location good and you don’t notice the large public car park. External household bins used by general public! We enjoyed our stay and would book again!

Lovely house… bit tired in places.
Lovely house… bit tired in places. An ongoing issue with having hot showers put a bit of a dampener on activities. Kitchen well equipped but oven a bit temperamental….. particularly cooking festive meals for 8. Also serving dishes and spoons would have been nice. On the whole this is a characterful quirky house with loads of space to relax. It is warm and homely and is very conveniently situated for town and beach. It simply needs a bit of attention to detail, particularly in the main bathroom….. toilet seat needs replacing. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it, with a few tweaks, wholeheartedly to any large party.
