This was a lovely place to stay ! Off the beaten path, yet close to areas of interest. Quiet and scenic. We saw deer while sitting on the back porch. It was clean. The beds were very comfortable. I would definitely recommend !!!
Overall great process and great people to work with! We had an awesome time and the cabin was perfect. The location was amazing with no neighbors right on top of you, we loved the seclusion but yet still super close to everything we wanted to do!Will definitely book this one again!
Our stay at this property was very enjoyable. The cabin matched the description. We had everything we needed. It was conveniently located. We were excited to see a family of deer every day. This was our first experience with the owner mailing us the keys prior to the stay and us having to mail the keys back at our expense.
We loved the Cabin!! Very cozy, quiet, clean and comfy. Centrally located to everything we wanted to do in the area.
Great communication. Highly recommend.
Our friends and us really liked staying at this cabin. Directions to find it were spot on. It's very clean and well stocked with plenty of room outside to park our vehicles.
The cabin was very comfortable and clean. We loved the location and easy access to the trails. We woke up to turkeys and deer at the doorstep. We would highly recommend and plan to stay again!
We are older women who were looking for a place that offers peace and beautiful nature. We were very pleased with the beauty and location.
The owner is accommodating and answered our two phone calls in a very timely manner.
We had a wonderful reunion with family and friends in this private setting. The cabin is spotless, fully stocked, and is surrounded by woods and wildlife while being centrally located to all the best Black Hills attractions. Thank you Mel!

Beautiful cozy cabin
We loved staying at this cabin! It had everything we could have possibly needed and was such a beautiful location. The kids loved having such a big area to play outside, and we all enjoyed the convenience of being located on trail 5 and next to Rec Springs for snowmobiling. We will be back!!
Great location and property right next to Rec Springs on the snow mobile trails. We had a 24 foot trailer and 2 two place snowmobile trailers and had room for parking even with all the snow. Property was great and exactly as described.
Couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to stay!! It was a centralized location for everything we wanted to do for our 5 day vacation in South Dakota. A beautiful log cabin on a quaint piece of property.
Mel was wonderful to work with.

Thanks Mel and Marge for providing the perfect Black Hills cabin stay - our nights there exceded all of our expectations! Perfect location, great views, remote yet close to Lead and Deadwood. Our only regret was not planning a full day off from seeing the sites and relaxing more at your place. Thanks again!
Mel was great with communication and availability. Cabin was clean and one of the nicer VRBO rentals we have used. Did have to run to store to buy soap for shower. TV had only four or five channels but didn’t concern us since we weren’t there to watch TV. Overall our family enjoyed our stay and would stay in this cabin again if and when we return to the Black Hills.
This cabin is perfect...it has everything you need in a beautiful, remote, relaxed setting!! We were on a snowmobile trip so being located adjacent to trail #5 was great! We had 2 couples so there was plenty of room. The kitchen was equipped well and there were plenty of extra towels, bedding, blankets, chairs, etc, if needed. The home was very clean throughout!! Communication with Mel prior to the trip was wonderful!! Definitely a great find!!
I chose this cabin for the central location. Most of the sites are an hour to hour and an half away. Upon arrival we were greeted by 2 does and 3 fawns. All are evening visitors. Next morning there was a flock of turkeys and a peeping Tom marmot.
Mel was quick to respond regarding a minor issue and kept us updated on what was going on. The cabin was very comfortable for the 2 of us. Nicely stocked kitchen. The floors were CLEAN walked around barefoot and no black feet.
My friends and I like to vacation in the Black Hills. We always try to find a location where we can hang out, outside. This location was perfect. No next door neighbors. Big firepit outside. Covered porch was great when it was raining! The beds were comfortable. We were 4 adult males and we were all comfortable. Having two bathrooms was excellent as well. The cell service was limited and the wifi was extremely slow but we don't go out there to be on our phones. We love enjoying being outdoors. Stepping off the back porch right into the woods was awesome. We were very happy with this location!
First time visiting South Dakota and it is beautiful.
The cabin was just as published. Very spacious. All the utensils, pot and pans you could ever want. There were even a few spices that were available to use. The owner was very friendly and promptly answered questions after messaging him. The grounds were perfect, quiet, and surrounded by trees. There's a restaurant within walking distance that had very good food. The TV's were very hard to figure out so a how-to sheet would have been nice to have. Also, the thermostat seemed to not be rigged correctly but a quick note to the owner was answered and we figured it out.

Even better than advertised!
This is the best little secluded hideaway in the Black Hills - without exception.
The cabin has everything a family/small group needs, and it is CLEAN and WELL-MAINTAINED. Every year the owners add something new to the cabin to make our experience there even better than before. They appreciate us as guests, and we appreciate them!
Sunrise over the quiet meadow is just like the photo - and then the wildlife starts to show up. This summer we watched a doe stand up and wait for her newborn, twin fawns to stumble to their feet and follow her into the trees. And all this happens within easy access and convenience to the many attractions of the Hills!
Whether close-by, or on a day-trip adventure, there are all kinds of fun things to do and places to go - for children and/or adults. Keep your camera handy. And don't miss The Great Faces (aka Mount Rushmore)!
If you want a break from using the cabin's awesome kitchen, there's a great burger and a pint; buttermilk pancakes or an Indian taco; or a trout dinner to be found at Lewie's, Cheyenne Crossing Cafe, or the Latchstring Inn respectively - all of which boast national acclaim. Our whole family, including the kids, has personal favorites at all three.
We have stayed at this cabin several times. I guess it is obvious why 'the cabin' is our favorite place for making memories with our family.
Thank you.
This is our forth year going to the badlands. We both rate this cabin as our new number 1 place to stay.
