Sykes Holiday CottagesConstructive comments to make, the consensus opinion of all six adult persons in our party. It’s a wonderfully delightful property in a great location, which appears to have been badly maintained. Our apologies for breaking one glass.External key box rubber cover damaged and left in hallway be previous occupant.Lighting bulbs blown in all areas. All floor bare surfaces felt ‘sticky’ to bare feet, a hazard to young hands and feet?We were unable to locate the ‘emergency torch,’ but had our own torches, so no issue.Ground Floor Cupboards - Damaged Freezer lid loose with evident ice build-up.Paint cans stored in and around cupboard housing the freezer, a fire risk to the occupants. The only fire exit is via the main access wooden staircase from the building.Main bedroom (Yellow Room) - Broken lighting fitments, on 1 wall mounted unit, damaged frame on 1 bedside lamp.Family Room - Shower completely inoperative. Drawer unit has sticky drawers, and loose handles. The toilet roll holder fell off and left on floor.Blue Bedroom - Bed table lamp by window not working. Catch on top window broken.Kitchen - Dirty and unwashed floor. Attended to after complaining to agency call during our stay but still inadequate. The frying pan has a dangerously loose handle.Conservatory - Damaged flex on table lamp to the flexible lead through both outer and inner sheaths presenting a significant danger. An unterminated cable hanging out from wall.

A fantastic property in a great location

It is a lovely conversion of the old oust house and has many interesting characteristics. It was a good size and easily accommodated us all (family gathering of 9 adults). It was comfortable and has all the facilities you could need for catering at home if you wanted to. The location was very central but the otherside of the harbour from the town centre which meant is was a bit quieter but still easily in range of pubs, restaurants, shops etc. It also had private access with code operated gates which meant only residents were within the grounds. Negatives, none really, we would only say that some of facilities are starting to show their age and use. For example, some Kitchen doors starting to sag, main bathroom shower door not sealing properly, a fresh lick of paint needed in some areas etc. but nothing that stopped us enjoying ourselves.
