Couldn’t fault this place. Beautifully designed and well maintained and equipped. Great location. We had a great time.

Beautiful Porth Crigyll

Must be up there in the top 5 of my favourite holidays in my lifetime. Even storm David at the beginning didn’t dampen our enjoyment. The stay and location were just second to none. As a couple with 2 small dogs in tow, Anglesey was absolutely ideal just so dog friendly everywhere. First time visiting Anglesey and Porth Crigyll and it definitely won’t be our last, completely fallen in love with the place and how nice the people treated both ourselves and our dogs.

Wonderful stay

The location of this house is perfect, with the beach, bar and restaurants on your doorstep. The house is large and quite comfortable with lovey views of the beach. It is quite tired on the outside, and could do with a few tweaks inside to make it more practical ie nowhere to dry hair / makeup easily near a mirror, however for 3 nights it was fine. We really enjoyed our stay.

Relaxing stay

Easy access to the beach and a quiet corner of Rhosneigr. Will think about booking again in the future.

Gorgeous location in a slightly tired property. One or two cleanliness issues on the whole, good

We really enjoyed our stay in a marvellous location hidden in the dunes with really easy access to the beach. On arrival, we found the property rather chilly and the heating didn’t seem to be able to be adaptable and a number of things didn’t look like they’ve been cleaned or emptied, bedding and house cleanliness were excellent. It was a really comfortable property and we are very grateful we were able to stay. In the end, we thought it was really good value for money, a reasonable cost and lovely property.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review from your recent stay. We were a little confused by some of the comments, but had there been housekeeping issues, we wish you had been in touch with us whilst you were here, as they could easily have been resolved. We are so pleased that you were comfortable and enjoyed staying in such a lovely location.

A weekend vacation

Very much enjoyed our recent stay, property in lovely situation and the local shops supply everything, good fish and chip shop also. Nice beach walk when tide out, from house.

On the beach

You could not get nearer the beach unless you were on it. The property was well appointed in all aspects, and for two of us and a boxer dog was very spacious. We enjoy cooking and the property was well stocked with cooking tools, although a couple of Pyrex ovenware items would have been useful. I'm summary a very nice property which we would be happy to return to on the future.

Exactly what we needed

We needed to escape but wanted location, comfort and good food. We got exactly what we wanted here in Rhosneigr. The beach was ours and a stone’s throw from the property. The food was excellent at the Sandy Mount and the Oyster Catcher. Very dog friendly also.

NEEDS A GOOD CLEAN

Absolutely perfect location. We have stayed here many times, due to the location, but the property cleanliness hugely lets it down.
Response from VrboOwner on 6 Jul, 2024
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Porth Crigyll is in a great location and offers incredible value for money compared to the other holiday properties in that area. It is priced accurately for the season and condition of the property, that said it has recently been redecorated, had additional amenities added and the owner continues to make improvements to keep on top of the property. I can also confirm that the property was housekept to a standard accepted by the housekeeping manager that then signed the property off ahead of your arrival; it was again inspected upon your departure. We do ask our guests, within the pre-arrival letter and on the digital welcome guide, to report any issues whilst there and we do respond immediately to any reported issues. My team go to great efforts to ensure our guests are satisfied with their stay, but we cannot respond to something if it is not reported. I am content that this is an unfair representation of the property.

Lovely house in a fantastic location

Unbeatable location right on the beach. Sea views from the front and RAF Valley runways from the rear. Great open entertaining space downstairs and as a group of adults we really appreciated all the bathrooms. Utility room useful for drying clothes when we got drenched!

Such a lovely place to stay, highly recommended

We had a great time and will definitely be returning. Great location and so near to the beach. There are just a couple of small things that could be improved. Curtains in main bedroom, mirror in main bathroom. A great break for us.

Lovely Autumn break

Beautiful location with views to the sea! Comfortable property with almost everything that you need! Curtains absolutely need changing in main bedroom and wardrobe situation needs sorting too! Both have been commented on in previous reviews but no action taken.

Not quite to standard

On the surface this is a nice property, well located for the beach and 5-10 minutes from shops and bars. Unfortunately , for our stay the level of housekeeping was below par with all glasses and utensils having to be cleaned before use, remnants of past guests left in a bedroom, a full bin , and a kitchen that smelt like a curry house , a smell that we couldn’t remove.

Perfect beachside location

This was our third visit to Porth Crigyll. It is the perfect location with the beach on the doorstep and the centre of the village a short stroll down the road. The house is comfortable but in need of a bit of TLC. For example - the balcony is very tired looking and the chairs on it frail; the main bedroom door doesn’t shut properly; and the sofa in the lounge felt uncomfortable one end. Having said that we will definitely be looking to book again.

Wonderful location

We had an amazing time in this great beach house. The house itself has everything you need. Lots of space, good shower and it was so tranquil. You are near the centre to grab bits that you need or a meal out but far enough away to feel like you are the only people around. It is fantastically close to the beach which makes it super convenient to carry everything you need for a day on the sand or to watch the sunset which we were super lucky to get everyday!! There were a few things we would possibly have liked that would have made this house the perfect place to stay but it is pretty near close that.

Great location.

We had problems with the electric blinds that wouldn’t close so staff had to come and tape them shut. Also the main shower outlet was blocked which meant water filled the bathroom which we had to mop. Once again maintenance resolved it but could have done without the stress. Couldn’t find the ironing board. Eventually found it in the garage. The property is nice and a in great location.

Simply amazing

The house and location were amazing and we will, without question, boom this property again. But what really stood out, over and above the property, was the customer service we received from the team at Anglesey Holiday Lettings. Due to a bereavement we needed to move the booking very last minute. The empathy & understanding, and flexibility demonstrated by your team will never be forgotten, hence we’ll definitely be booking through you again. A tip for anyone booking this house.. visit the Oyster Catcher.. great food & atmosphere.

Mixed

Good points were location and responsiveness of AHL. Improvements would be more glasses, cups and cooking / serving dishes. The problems were the sewerage smell outside and the amount of building work (2 properties opposite and properties on way to the beach) noise and activity from 8 in the morning and the path to the beach was blocked off as diggers moved up and down.
Response from VrboOwner on 13 Jun, 2024
Thank you for your review Mary, all feedback from our guests is very much appreciated. We can appreciate that the couple of issues that you experienced during your stay were not ideal, building work in the village being one of them, but hopefully this will not deter you from booking with us in the future, at this or any other of our properties. Thank you for both your feedback and your custom.

Love a view.

House is situated in a lovely spot. Some updating needed. Hanging space, decent curtains etc. Caution booking and don't except too much. Dealt with customer service on the phone regarding some unexpected building work disruption. Phone call got me nowhere but followed with an email. This then provided us with a conclusion to our complaint.
Response from VrboOwner on 15 Jun, 2024
This is a very unfair and unjust review. Until you alerted us to the building works, both ourselves and the owner were unaware. Had we received prior notification from the builders that this was the situation, we would have naturally contacted you as our guests. Your complaint was dealt with by us in a timely manner and the owners were contacted. They were very sympathetic and understanding of the situation and completely agreed that it was not acceptable. We did not have alternative accommodation to offer you, so therefore you were offered a full refund to return home or a partial refund to stay and continue with your booking. You chose to stay and accepted the partial refund. We believed that this was handled to a satisfactory conclusion and are therefore surprised and disappointed by your derogatory review.

A lovely place but should have been better

A really nice property let down by the furnishings in lounge. All dirty and well worn and in desperate need of replacement. Broken drawer on dishwasher which was mentioned to the maintenance guy and I noted was already reviewed back in April. No wardrobes or drawer storage in upstairs bedrooms and whilst I appreciate the sloping ceilings surely alternatives should be looked at. All in all we had a lovely holiday sadly let down by the above mentioned

Not for anyone over 5ft 7 & repeat “suggestions” for improvements

Great location, welcome pack and fantastic information re. the booking itself, but….. Get a mirror over the sink in the main bathroom & get hooks, both previously reported No wardrobes upstairs , presumably due to sloping walls, so insufficient storage for anything more than a night or two. Curtains in the bedroom with the balcony have already been reported as need of repair/ replacement Top tip : the tallest person will have to sleep on the left in the room with the balcony, and perhaps just restrict the other room to people 4ft or under Weird bathroom set up in the downstairs twin room, a loo and sink that do not have a door, look at getting a sliding, barn door type. Get another oven glove, there is just one. It’s a 3 bedroom house, with nice bathrooms, but best suited to just two people really.

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave us feedback from your recent stay. We always appreciate it when our guests provide us with their thoughts and suggestions for improvements. We have passed on all of the feedback to the owner and are pleased to let you know, that they have acted upon some of your suggestion and new furniture will be arriving at Porth Crigyll next week. So thank you for your very valuable input. We do hope that we are able to welcome you back at some point in the near future.

Porth Crigyll summer

We stayed at Porth Crigyll for 3 weeks in August with our teenage son and his friend. There really is no better location for a holiday home, just a stones throw from the beach with views of the sunset over the beach from the house. An easy 5 minute walk into the village, just perfect. The kitchen was well equipped and Holiday Lettings provide a nice welcome basket. Garage storage brilliant for paddleboards, bikes etc. The downside was there no wardrobes in the 2 double bedrooms upstairs so we had to buy one from Amazon as nowhere to put clothes. The living room furniture is a bit tired however it is a beach house so understand things get worn quickly. Other niggles, no hooks in bathrooms to hang towels, no mirror over sink in beautiful master bathroom, no mop.l, no dressing table in bedrooms to do hair/makeup. Just the smaller things that could very easily be sorted with little cost to make it perfect.

Not up to standard

We have previously loved staying at this property but this time we were very disappointed. Cleanliness was an issue and resulted in bites on feet and ankles from a dirty rug filled with sand. Hoover was blocked and dirty. Patio windows caked in weeks of sea salt so spoiled the view. Poor lighting in bathrooms and bulbs not replaced. House needs gas and electric maintenance checks. Pillows need replacing. No kitchen oven ware dishes in property. Not good enough for premium prices charged over Christmas period. Shame because the house is lovely and in a great location.
Response from VrboOwner on 9 Jan, 2023
Your review is completely unfair, has a few concerning untruths and will result in further action. Firstly, you arrived 2 hours ahead of check in time and the Housekeeper had not finished (verified by myself when I was called to the property by the housekeeper). At no point did you call to report any issues (as per our terms); I hold large stocks of kitchen items and have several staff on call to deal with absolutely any issues. There is no gas at the property therefor can not be out of date!! How dare you imply that any of my properties are not compliant; completely unacceptable, untrue and slanderous. A simple call would have resolved any issue within minutes, instead you chose to leave a poor review, but I suspect this is because my staff contacted you with regard to the completely unacceptable state you left the property in. You have been added to our Do Not Accept Booking list. We will be in touch.

A great location with direct access to the beach and ten minutes walk to some great restaurants

The location was excellent and the cottage was the perfect base for exploring Rhosneigr and the surrounding area. There were a few minor issues which could easily be resolved, there was no salt and pepper in the kitchen not even a pot to put it in and there was a lack of glasses even for two people, we ended up buying some to leave there for future customers to use. There was no dvd player in the cottage when we checked with the agent they said there should be one but maybe it had broken and been removed, it was quickly resolved with one being delivered by a member of the maintenance team however it would only work on the tv in the upstairs bedroom so when we wanted to watch a film we had to bring the tv downstairs from the master bedroom. There was also a leak from the upstairs en-suite shower which wasn’t fixed whilst we were there even though it had been reported 2 days in to our stay. To sum it up wouldn’t definitely go back but a few minor improvements could make this a 5 star review
Response from VrboOwner on 16 Oct, 2024
Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback about your recent stay with us. We’re thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the excellent location and found the cottage to be a great base for exploring. We value our guests suggestions, as these minor improvements will help to enhance future stays. We’re grateful for your understanding and for the glasses you generously left behind. It’s wonderful to hear that despite these small setbacks, you would still consider returning, and we hope to welcome you back for a 5-star experience next time.
