Why they chose this property
We have been flying to Maui for the last 20 years! We owned and rented out a condo at the Kihei Kai Nani for 14 years so had to stay at other condos when we came over, usually at the next door complex, Kihei Akahi. We enjoyed the Akahi so much, the grounds, tennis courts, friendships, and extra amenities, we decided to buy.
What makes this property unique
The Akahi is an oasis to come home to for quiet relaxation after a day out and about . Kihei is a beach community that provides activities such as whale watching (seasonal), swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling, paddling, boogie boarding, surfing, or just hanging out at the beach under an umbrella. We have a ritual of visiting the beach at sunset time every night with few exceptions. The beaches are staffed with Maui County lifeguards, clean restrooms, outside showers, and grassy areas with picnic tables. There is a large county park, Kalama, about 1 mile north of the Akahi with basketball and tennis courts (play with the locals), baseball fields, picnic tables, clean restrooms, and a wall to sit on and view the ocean. Across the street from the park is a Foodland grocery store.
The Akahi is walking distance (up and down S. Kihei Rd) to a variety of restaurants, from casual to elegant, various shops, including Hawaiian Moons health food store and a mile from Foodland.
There is a long walking trail along the ocean. We like to start at Kamaole III, and walk south to observe the turtles, birds, boats, views of Lanai, West Maui, Kahoolawe and Molokini Crater. We like to continue walking thru the Kihei Boat launch/Marina* and on to Keawakapu Beach on the south side of Mana Kai Resort (where we often stop for a cup of coffee from the deli).
