About this property

"Allawah of Bright" .

Allawah of Bright is a recently renovated and refurbished Victorian home which is only a 2 minute walk from the centre of town. The history of the house is evident in its old world character, however the furniture is modern and comfortable.

This holiday house has enough room for the largest of families, with five bedrooms, including a spacious loft with its own separate entertainment area. There is a lockable bike storage room for your use.

Allawah has ducted heating and cooling, as well as multiple fireplaces of which one is ready for your use on cold winter nights (wood is supplied).

There is a 55 inch OLED television mounted on the wall in the lounge room. Please feel free to use the library/book exchange.

Rest and Relaxation

Allawah of Bright has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms downstairs, and a spacious loft/5th bedroom/play area upstairs. The bedding configuration includes 3 queen size beds, 1 bedroom with 2 singles beds and the loft area has 3 single beds. Please bear in mind that some of the bedrooms maybe locked depending on how many rooms have been requested. All linen is supplied.

The kitchen in Allawah has been recently refurbished, with modern stainless steel appliances for even the most discerning of cooks. A new 90cm LG oven and Nespresso coffee machine have been installed in late 2024. A dishwasher is also provided (appliance that is, not a person!). The modern dining setting also seats 10 comfortably, or alternatively meals could be enjoyed at the breakfast bar, or outdoors in a stunning and tranquil garden setting.

Location

Allawah is a short walk to the beautiful Ovens River and the popular swimming area Centenary Park. A two minute walk will also find you in the centre of town, so no driving is required for you to enjoy the local Bright brewery, cafes, restaurants and Hotels. There is ample car parking at the property (including a carport) so feel free to leave the cars behind and explore the town and restaurants on foot.

A short drive or bicycle ride along the popular bike tracks gives you access to the local wineries, berry farms and picturesque Wandiligong.

For the skiing and snow enthusiasts, Mount Hotham, Mount Buffalo and Falls Creek are only an hour's drive away.

We had a family get-together for our son's wedding, and enjoyed staying in this lovely spacious house with plenty of room for everyone. I am a full time professional in Brisbane with a partner and two kids (one of whom is in a wheelchair so feel free to ask me about local disability friendly advice - I am all over it). I bought the house when it was a bit under the weather about 15 years ago now and have renovated and refurbished as the years have gone by. I love Bright having grown up in the pub there for a few years with my parents and I think of the area as my first home.

Why they chose this property

If you are after a larger property with a lovely older presence in the town, but modernly refurbished, and without the hassles of having to drive anywhere then this is the house for you! I would like to think that I am catering for larger blended families, groups of friends or a couple of families having a holiday together. There is a couple of different spaces for kids and adults to seperate, and combined with the luxury of a fire to congregate in front of I hope you can get a feel for everything that Bright can offer and have a great holiday.

What makes this property unique

Not many houses in town have the charm of Allawah of Bright. The original part of the house is quite old (how old I am not sure) but it has been added to by consecutive owners over the years. The previous owners at some stage have added in a lovely garden of heliobores, daffodils, wind chimes, blue bells and irises. We hope you enjoy the amenities, garden, fire place but most of all its proximity to town as much as we do when I get to visit. There is no need to drive anywhere when you stay at Allawah of Bright.
