About this property

Hazards Homestay, a recently refurbished holiday home, 5 minutes drive to town.

Designed with indoor/outdoor living in mind, our comfortable home has decks on three sides accessed by sliding doors at the back and front. Ideally, a stay of 3-4 nights would allow you to really experience much of what the region has to offer.
The rates for Hazards Homestay are based on four guests staying and not just two then $25+ per extra person per night, as is often the case at other Coles Bay rental properties.
There are ten or more glorious beaches, lots of scenic walks of varying duration, lookouts, many exciting dolphin watching boat cruises, kayak and 4-wheel drive bike tours, a fascinating marine farm excursion, several nearby vineyards with tasting of iconic Tasmanian wines.
Our holiday home is a fully equipped house. The large open plan kitchen, dining, living area has a pine lined cathedral ceiling and a wood heater that can be used to warm the entire house. There are three bedrooms; one has a double bed, another has a queen size bed whilst the third bedroom has two bunk beds and a single bed. In total three singles and two double beds can sleep seven comfortably. Ideal for two small families. Please let us know which beds you intend to use and we will prepare them for you and supply towels and tea towels. All beds have quilts and pillows and extra blankets are stored in the bedroom drawers. We can also provide a portable cot. There is a large fully equipped kitchen, dining and living area. The new bathroom has a shower, toilet and hand basin. There is a second separate toilet. Upstairs is not accessible. The laundry has a washing machine, sink and our storage cupboards. The firewood is stacked near the water tank. I use my mobile to access the internet and can use it as a hotspot for my laptop. Free wifi is available in the Coles Bay village. Before guests leave, we do ask that you leave the shack in a clean, neat and tidy condition.
The Swanwick golf course is very close and the clubrooms have a dining area and bar, A boat ramp is at the Swan River in Swanwick and two boat ramps are about 3 kilometres away in Coles Bay. Great Oyster Bay is about 15km long and 8km wide and is sheltered by the Freycinet Peninsula, making it perfect for boating, fishing or just enjoying the magnificent scenery. Around the Coles Bay region it is easy get to the many stunning beaches with beautiful white sand derived from the red granite which form the magnificent Hazards. Well maintained tracks allow access to the iconic Wineglass Bay and across the isthmus to Hazard Beach and to more beaches further down the peninsula. The turnoff road to beautiful Friendly Beaches is about 10km north along the Coles Bay from Hazards Homestay,

Information about many aspects of the Freycinet National Park will be sent to you after your booking is confirmed. Some brochures highlighting local tours and activities are in the blue folder in the lounge, Additional maps and brochures are available from the Parks and Wildlife headquarters next to the entrance to the park past the Freycinet Lodge. This where you can purchase your National Park entry pass.
Because of the nearby conservation areas and the National Park status of the peninsula, we do not allow pets at our holiday house. Plenty of native animals are already living here!
In addition to providing privacy, the extensive plantings of native trees, flowering shrubs and grasses around the home attract a variety of wallabies, possums, parrots, wattle birds, blue wrens, black cockatoos kookaburras and many others.
