About this property
Spacious living with spectacular views
High on a hill with panoramic views of Moreton Bay, this spacious apartment is the perfect place to relax and watch the Bay. The ever changing view of ferries and boats during the day progresses to stunning sunsets and finishes with the colourful lights of Brisbane and moonlight on water.
The landscaped gardens attract a wide range of native visitors, particularly birdlife. Honeyeaters feed on the grevilleas next to the deck and rosellas, kookaburras, magpies and butcher birds are regular visitors whilst overhead eagles soar and pelicans wheel on the thermals.
Tiled throughout, the open plan living makes the most of the views with dining room, sitting room and modern kitchen all overlooking the Bay. Two bedrooms with queen size beds have water views whilst the third with two king size single beds looks out into the garden. All the rooms have reverse cycle air-conditioning with individual controls.
Children are well catered for. There is a cot and we also provide a high chair. There are books, games and toys to play with.
A recent renovation has installed a luxury bathroom. A duo tub with waterfall spout and a large open shower with both rainfall and waterfall outlets together with the handmade crystalline basins makes this a place to luxuriate in.
Glass doors open on to a large timber deck, which is sheltered from the sun by sails and floodlit at night. This makes it ideal for entertaining. A barbeque and outdoor table seating for 10 completes the picture. The stunning views of Moreton Bay during the day and the Brisbane lights at night make this a wonderful place to have a meal or read a book.
Nestled into the hill on the opposite side from the deck is a pool for the use of the occupants of the apartments. Sheltered from the wind it is the perfect place to relax and swim where elsewhere is windy and cold. Underwater lighting adds to the ambience and provides the perfect spot for evening drinks or a late night swim on warm nights.
The price includes linen with the exception of beach towels. The beds are made up to your requirements and a weekly change of linen is provided. We accept a MAXIMUM number of six people plus a baby
Only a few minutes from the ferry and water taxi, this is a quiet and peaceful retreat even during peak holiday periods. The upstairs apartment is for the private use of the couple who own the property when they are on the island. The tenants have the exclusive use of the deck and share the garden and pool.
A scenic walk through the bush, or a short drive by car, brings you to Brown Lake with its sandy beaches - a popular swimming and canoeing area. Close at hand is the golf club, the airstrip and beautiful Blue Lake. Sandy beaches at the bottom of the hill give access to Moreton Bay for swimming or fishing.
A pleasant 20 minute drive to the other side of the island takes you to Point Lookout with it's patrolled ocean beaches and scenic gorge walk whilst a short drive the other way takes you to a 30 km fishing and walking beach.
If you have a boat it can be launched nearby and you can snorkel Horseshoe Bay, explore Moreton Island or meander through the other islands of the inland waterway of Moreton Bay.
NORTH STRADBROKE - THE MAGIC ISLAND
Ride a ferry across Moreton Bay to North Stradbroke Island and a strange event occurs. . your mind and body relax . you return to a more easy going time - natures time.
Moreton Bay Marine Park crosses the climate zones with tropical, subtropical and temperate wildlife species. Its wetlands, some of the best in Australia, support and shelter fish, birds and other wildlife, sand flats provide roosting sites for migratory birds, pods of dolphins cruise the bay and sea grass beds nurture fish, shellfish, dugong and turtles.
Straddie is a Noah's Ark of rare and endangered land and sea creatures and habitat. There are 18 species of land mammals including wallabies, kangaroos, echidnas, koalas and bandicoots. Reptiles include turtles, tortoise and lizards. There are several frog species and hundreds of bird species from raptors to honeyeaters and migratory wading birds.
The finest spa doesn't compare with the silken waters of a sand island's freshwater lakes. Blue Lake (Karboora) is a window into the water table that underlies Straddie's sand masses. Brown Lake (Bummeira) is surrounded by tea-trees to rest under and is imbued with the healing, soothing essence of their oils.
North Stradbroke Island is just off the coast of Brisbane in Moreton Bay. There are three small, distinctly different townships
Dunwich - is the gateway to the island by ferry and has a range of cafes, shops and services. It's a historical town with a rich heritage. Visit the Historical Museum for a venture back into the past and stroll through the old cemetery.
Amity Point - is a small seaside village. It is a favourite fishing spot for people, pelicans and dolphins.
Point Lookout - is popular for its magnificent surf beaches, whale watching from the headland, retail shops, restaurants. The magnificent Gorge Walk around the headland is well worth doing.
The island has essential services such as post offices, ambulance centres, doctors, pharmacies, 24-hour emergency medical assistance and police.
