Great stay

The house is perfect for large groups allowing people to find places for a little peace and quiet during the hubbub of a family gathering. The deck next to the water is wonderful as is the screen porch. The host was extremely responsive. We’d like to stay again!

We had an awesome time staying here! Nice and secluded with a big yard for playing games, fire pit was great, lots of fun swimming and fishing off the dock, close to shopping in Nisswa. The guest apartment above the garage was ideal for grandma and the kids, who went to bed earlier than the rest of our group. If I had to make any suggestions, I would recommend replacing a few mattresses that are past their prime (bunk beds upstairs). Or maybe I am getting too old to sleep in a bunk bed, ha! Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would stay again!

Family getaway

We had a great time at our annual Family Getaway. My wife and I choose a different area every year to take the family, our 3 kids, their spouses and significant other and 6 grandchildren. This cabin was perfect and fit all of us with no problem. We were glad to have rented the extra cabin. Lake was fun and the loon sounds were incredible.

Gorgeous Get Away with Family

Everything at this VRBO was fantastic! There is space for the kids to run around and play epic volleyball and badminton games; there were many board games to choose from; we saw baby turtles, baby loons, and baby swans; we caught some fish and paddle boarded all over the lake! The kids loved the lily pad and the mother-in-law house. It was very easy to rent jet skis - they brought them right down to the Middle Cullen Public Boat Access for us. The adults loved the screened in porch, the fire pit, and the awesome views. It is more isolated than other lake homes which provided more serenity for everyone. Highly Recommended!

Men’s golf trip

No two lakes alike

Great house. Fabulous property. Weedy around the dock making swimming uncomfortable. Mud bottom verses sand or rock so each time you got in the mud stirred up. DEFINATELY take lake shoes for everyone! Easy spot to dock a pontoon boat and the screened in porch was excellent.

Family Getaway

We had a wonderful time at the property. The cabin layout, bedrooms, and bathrooms worked really well for our group. We made use of the screen porch, ping pong, and badminton. Like everyone mentioned it is a pretty mucky/weedy swim area. The kids still enjoyed swimming and fishing off the dock. One thing that we struggled with was fridge space. A second fridge in the basement or in the screened in porch would make all the difference!

Vaca 2023!

This property was perfect for our group. We had three families, one with a 1-year old. There was plenty of space to sleep, spend time together, or spend time apart of someone needed a break. :) The 20-year old singles liked having their own space in the guest cabin. The screened-in porch was a game-changer. We spent every night out there having dinner and playing games. So much space, well kept cabin. We had a wonderful, memorable week! Thank you for sharing your cabin home with us.

Spacious Lodge for a Big Family Getaway

We had a great time staying at this large family lodge near Nisswa! The space was big enough to comfortably host our extended family of 12, with plenty of beds and a well-stocked kitchen that made group meals easy. We found the lodge to be sufficiently clean. The new carpet and room air conditioners were a nice touch, and the beds were surprisingly comfortable. We especially appreciated the dock—it was in great condition and worked perfectly with our rented pontoon. The guest house was also a lovely retreat for us grandparents, giving us a little space to recharge.The location felt very secluded (the road in narrows to a single-lane trail at one point), which made it peaceful and quiet, yet it was just a quick drive into town for shopping, treats, and activities. The host was a great communicator throughout the process. That said, the place shows its age in some ways. The lawn hadn't been mowed before our arrival, so we didn’t get to use the volleyball net, and the living room didn’t quite have enough seating for our whole group to gather comfortably. While the dock was great, we didn't wade into the water from shore as there were enough weeds and a mucky bottom. We also filled up the outdoor trash bins fairly quickly with what we’d consider normal use for our big group, so more garbage capacity would have been helpful.All in all, it’s a well-loved property with a lot of charm and space for a large group. A few rough edges, but overall a good experience.

Wonderful Family Week

This is a great property located in the wilderness on a beauty lake . Had multiple families (all adults) up for the week . It was spaciousl, well appointed and very comfortable . We used the side cabin as well which worked great for our families . The pups loves it too I would highly recommend .

Second stay

Wonderful time tubing, fishing, playing games and relaxing. This was our second stay and it was as fun as the first. Our grandson caught a 4 lb 1 oz bass off the dock! WiFi connection was great for another grandson to connect with his college zoom class. Thanks for sharing your cabin with us.

A fabulous week at the cabin

We had a wonderful time at the cabin. The lake's distance from the cabin was ideal! The floating dock was a huge hit. The kids spent almost the entire time in the water. All 15 of us were very comfortable in the beautiful cabin! The beds were comfortable and every family had a bathroom. We played baseball and frisbee in the huge backyard! We had s'mores in the firepit almost every night. We rented a pontoon boat which was also a highlight for our family! Thank you Busheys for a wonderful week.

Summer 2021

Our family had a great experience. We spent most of our time on the new deck by the lake. The screened in porch was wonderful! The kitchen was well stocked with cooking items, and plenty of dishes, silverware and glasses. We felt it needed some more cleaning, especially in the carriage unit over the garage. The air conditioning was not the best, the window units were old! It was a good home, and we loved the seclusion! There is a state walking trail through the woods, so we did not have to go into town. It is not a paved path, but nice! The driveway was a little scary the first time in, but we got used to it.

Cabin Trip

Great place on a beautiful lake. The lake was beautiful and the cabin was the perfect Northern Minnesota getaway. Tons to do in the area for shopping and recreation.

two family vacation.

Beautiful place and loved the carriage house. Perfect for 2 families. The lake was great and so was the check in and check out process. I would suggest maybe a tv in the carriage house. Thanks for everything. We had a great time.

Peaceful & Serene - Great Family Getaway!

Our family stayed at this beautiful property for 3 weeks from mid-June to mid-July. We had two of our children with us, and our two small dogs. The property is located deep in the woods (about 1.5 mile dirt road drive), which was really nice because it very private. The yard is huge and has a volleyball net set up. The lake was warm and fun to swim in - and there is a floating dock about 75 feet out from the main dock. We spent a ton of time on floaties in the water - it is sandy near the shore but Is weedy toward the end of the dock. Half way between the main dock and the floating dock there is a drop of and that made for great swimming without weeds. The house itself was wonderful. We spent a lot of time in the screened in porch playing games at night - or during the day if it got too hot outside. Also there is air conditioning in each of the bedrooms which was super helpful at night. The large kitchen table also made it easy to play games and eat dinner as a family. There is a basement that has a ping pong table as well as a smaller den, a bedroom and another bathroom. It also walks out to the backyard toward the volleyball net. The owner and the property manager were both super to work with. Very responsive and very helpful. Also, we needed to work remotely while we were up there. The wifi was fairly good during the day - more trouble at night with it throttling (perhaps too many others in the area started using it at night time). However we were able to do Zoom calls and emails without problem. My cell signal was terrible though (Verizon). Perhaps another carrier would be better. I made it work though with using FaceTime audio where possible instead of standard cellular. I highly recommend this property and will likely return again!

Great stay. Our Golden retrievers loved the open areas and the water. !

We had a great time on Cullen Lake. Because of the strong south wind the insects were quite bad during our stay on some days but the 3 season screened porch was perfect for sitting out with a glass of wine. The lake is big enough for tubing and the water was crystal clear. Perfect for our 2 families. The owners and caretaker were very attentive and responded to our questions immediately. The Nisswa region is one of our favorites in MN. Thank you!!

Annual family vacation 2019

Beautiful lake home gave us lots of room for activities. We had great fishing, swimming and tubing on the quiet lake. Wonderful yard for games, campfires and just running around which the younger children seem to enjoy. Very private location surrounded by trees. We saw a pair of eagles several times, even one catching a fish near the dock. We saw a loon family including 2 young loons. The grandchildren enjoyed the swimming dock. Several family members did long runs on the nearby trails. Beds were very comfortable and kitchen well stocked including nice dishes and silverware. We were happy to have 4 bathrooms available for our group of 15, 7 adults and 8 children ages 6 to 16. Lots of card games and puzzles on the big dining room table and also tables on the screen porch. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home. We hope to return next summer.

Weekend Away with Friends

TAKE PICTURES OF EVERYTHING YOU SEE THAT IS BROKE OR DAMAMGED. This was my first time using VRBO. Everything went great leading up to our stay. We had a total of 4 families stay here. The driveway is very long and windy. A little tricky if you are pulling a boat. The property itself is very nice, well furnished, a lot of open space. A couple things we were disappointed about. One is two AC units were leaking all over the floor and bed. So we went and bought our own and installed them. Make sure you bring fans, it can get hot in there since it does not have central air. The listing states that the basement is usable sleeping quarters, however, I am not sure who would want to sleep down there. When we got there the basement clearly had water in the basement at some point as it smelled musty and moldy. It was very dungeon-like. So we did not use it for sleeping. So if you are expecting the basement to be of any use to you, you may be very disappointed. If you stay in the apartment above the garage, be prepared to go without water quite often. We were without water for showers, flushing the toilet or washing hands. The water is weedy and mucky near the cabin but there is a really nice sandbar close by that we went to quite a bit. Our biggest complaint is there were quite a lot of little things that we saw that were broken (two screen doors, rugs were quite worn, front step board was broken, loose wires throughout the house, and the laundry room has zero ventilation) it did not even occur to me that I should have taken pictures or contacted the owners right away of these things because they withheld our deposit stating that we were the ones who caused this damage and we DID NOT. We attempted to contact the owners to discuss this and they replied with a very generic response not specifically addressing anything we asked. So needless to say we did not receive our deposit back which was very disappointing since we were accused of damages we did not do. So be aware of this.

Loved our stay

The property was well maintained and served our purpose very well. This was our Christmas gift to our kids. They all loved it and agreed this was much better than Christmas gifts! The kitchen and laundry area was so well stocked. We wouldn't have had to bring anything for the kitchen. And I could have left my Tide at home! It was nice to have such a big kitchen table - we all could eat at the same time like a family should. We fished a lot, took rides on the pontoon, had a bonfire and ate smores, and swung the kids around on tubes. We played board games and discovered a new TV show that got all of us hooked - Alone on the History channel. Thank you for sharing your house with us. We truly enjoyed our stay.

Family Bonding Week

I spent the week with nine family members in a beautiful cabin on Middle Cullen Lake. We visited with other relatives and were busy every day with fun activities, including zip lining, which was on my bucket list. The cabin in Pequot Lakes was wonderful. We had a great week!

Beautiful, private lake cabin!

We went with multiple families and had a wonderful time. We all had privacy during the stay and were able to spread out. The kitchen was well stocked and they had activities at the cabin as well. The owners are easy to reach for questions and the stay was exactly what we were expecting. We would definitely stay again!

Great location on the lake, spacious.

The property and house are spacious. We had a group of 10 adults and 6 children and had room for everyone with the garage apartment option. The screened in porch was amazing and huge plus. Nice being located off of the larger lake for kayaking, privacy etc. But mins away from large lake if you want. Only suggestions I'd make is to have cleaning supplies available (we only had fish soap and with a large group for 5 days it's nice to clean as you go). Mattresses could be upgraded as well,everyone was very stiff. And lastly I think it should be mentioned at time of booking that fees will be taken out of your security deposit return for credit card booking at time of booking.
