About this property
Mackenzie Creek Homestead
A private 1920s Queenslander farm stay near Dayboro - 50 minutes from Brisbane and a century away.
Welcome to Mackenzie Creek Homestead, formerly Lacey’s Creek Homestead. It is the same much-loved farm stay, with the same owners, now named after the creek that runs through our property.
Set high on a ridgeline of our 110-acre working farm, the private three-bedroom homestead looks across the Laceys Creek valley towards the D’Aguilar Range. You’re only 10 minutes from Dayboro and around 50 minutes from Brisbane, yet the timber floors, coloured glass, wood fire, cattle and country quiet make it feel far removed from the city.
Built in the 1920s and thoughtfully restored, the homestead retains the warmth and character of an original Queenslander while providing everything needed for a comfortable country escape. It sleeps up to six guests and is ideal for families, couples, friends and wedding groups.
The homestead
Three private bedrooms: two queen beds and one double bed
Fresh bed linen and towels
Fully equipped kitchen
Generous dining area
Comfortable lounge with a seasonal wood fire
Wide verandah overlooking the farm and valley
Private garden and outdoor area
Wi-Fi and free on-site parking
Portable cot available for younger guests
Start the day with coffee on the verandah as mist lifts from the valley, spend the afternoon exploring the local countryside, then settle beside the fire or enjoy a glass of wine as the sun disappears behind the hills.
A genuine country stay
Mackenzie Creek is a working family farm, vineyard and homestead rather than a purpose-built resort. During your stay, you may see cattle grazing across the hills, chickens and ducks around the farmyard, native birds in the gardens and wallabies appearing near dusk.
There is room to slow down, breathe fresh mountain air and enjoy the kind of quiet that is increasingly hard to find so close to Brisbane. At night, the valley becomes dark and peaceful, with clear skies that are ideal for stargazing.
The property adjoins the D’Aguilar National Park landscape and provides a convenient base for exploring Mount Mee, local bushwalking trails, forest drives and the Moreton Bay hinterland.
Weddings and local attractions
Mackenzie Creek Homestead is well positioned for guests attending weddings and events at Ocean View Estates, Glengariff Historic Estate and other Dayboro and Ocean View venues. There is ample off-street parking and plenty of space for guests to prepare before an event.
The historic Dayboro village is approximately 10 minutes away, with cafes, a bakery, country pubs, shops and weekend markets. Samford, Mount Mee, Mount Glorious, Lake Somerset and the wineries of the Moreton Bay hinterland are also within easy reach.
