Best Direct Lakefront Location on Candlewood

2026 July/Aug Summer weeks Sat to Sat preferred. Other times 3 & 4 nite min. Vacation at this Unique Lake Front Home with a huge open living area located at the most private section on Candlewood Lake in New Fairfield, CT. only 10 minutes to stores and restaurants.
Enjoy the 3100 sq. ft. 5 bedroom 4 bath house with walls of windows and incredible panoramic lake views from nearly every room. Our one acre plus property is extremely private with woods on the back side and wide open lake views on the front side. There are 3 bedrooms on the main level, 2 bedrooms upstairs and a third level lookout room. The house has three decks, a stone firepit, a huge grassy yard with a very gradual staircase down to the lake and a large lakeside stone patio. The dock is in place from Mid May to Mid October and is carpeted. There are stone steps into the water. There is a Fire pit by the deck with seating.
The house is located in a private community 10 minutes from New Fairfield Center or Sherman on a private one acre plus lot directly across from state owned land with no other houses on the opposite shoreline. Ours is one of the only roads on the lake where this serene setting exists. This makes it a super quiet location at night. Another advantage is that the water at our location is crystal clear. The water is very deep at our location. The carpeted dock is large for sunbathing, diving or docking your boat. The dock is equipped with post bumpers and floating ball bumpers. The main floor deck is huge with a large gas grill and lots of seating. The second floor balcony off the master living room has a table and two chairs. The third deck is on the upper level with a chair.
The spacious house has two main living levels with five bedrooms and a small lookout room on a third level. The main floor has a dramatic cathedral ceiling with large wood beams and track lighting. The second floor features a massive master bedroom suite with private balcony. This home is truly a unique and special place. Main Level Living Room- The entry level has floor to ceiling picture windows with incredible views of the lake. The living room is wood paneled and beamed with a cathedral ceiling creating an open and spacious feel. There are two huge windows overlooking the main very large deck and the lake beyond. There is a Smart TV with Spectrum TV app with a Roku. There is a stereo system with radio, CD player and Aux cord. There is a large minisplit AC unit in the living room to supplement the central AC.

Kitchen - The kitchen dining area has two walls of windows with the same lake view. Our kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need to create your favorite meals. There is a window AC unit and a ceiling fan as well as an exhaust fan over the stove in the kitchen. The formal dining room has seating for 10 people.

Bedrooms- On the main level are three bedrooms. The front queen bedroom has a lake view from two large sets of windows. This room also has a small private half bath and a wall AC unit.
The back queen bedroom has two sets of large windows with a wooded view of mature spruce trees and flowering dogwoods and also a side view of the lake. This room has a Smart TV for streaming and window AC unit.
The back middle bedroom has a double bed and a desk. Ceiling fan and portable fan.
The main level large vintage bathroom features a unique enclosed shower/tub area with custom etched herons on the glass surround. This bathroom is shared by two bedrooms.

Second Level - Upstairs is the huge master king bedroom suite with its own full sized living a room with monitor for streaming or gaming and sitting area. This bedroom has central AC and a window AC unit. Sliding glass doors leading to a private balcony with a table and chairs overlooking the lake. What a spot for morning coffee! This room is the full width of the house. There is a huge walk-in closet with dressing mirror and plenty of storage.
Second level bathroom- A private entrance from the master leads to the large second level newly renovated bathroom with double sinks and marble vanity. This bath has custom etched glass doors in the tub/shower. There is also a hallway entrance door to this bathroom that is shared with the twin room.
The back second level bedroom has two twin beds. There is a full wall of windows with a view of the woods behind the house and the driveway area. This room has its own AC window unit.
The Third Level -The top level consists of a small Lookout Room accessed via a small spiral staircase. This room has large windows on every side and a small sink. A large desk and chair would make a great office area in cool weather. There is also one twin futon mattress which can be used as a reading area or a single sleeping area. There is also a double mattress that can be used on the floor for a kids' campout. Glass sliding doors lead to a small deck. This area is not air conditioned. There is a portable fan and large windows open on all four walls.
Basement Level-The full basement has a full height 8 foot ceiling. There is a Ping Pong and Dart room and laundry room plus another full bath with shower. We have some life jackets and flotation noodles for your use but you should bring your own for children. You are welcome to use our knee board and water skis located in the basement.
The house is located equally between the town centers of New Fairfield and Sherman, CT. Both towns have grocery stores, gas stations and restaurants. New Fairfield has a large new Stop & Shop and Starbucks, Liquor stores and restaurants. Sherman is a smaller town but it has a nice grocery store and liquor store and the famous American Pie Company Restaurant and Bakery. Try the chicken pot pie.
We are less than a mile to Squantz Pond State Park with miles of hiking trails to ridge views and a sandy beach swimming area with lifeguard. There is a public boat launch across from the park entrance.
Take the short drive to quaint New Milford, CT just 15 minutes away. Visit one of the largest antiques/ flea markets in the east, the Elephant's Trunk, where the show Flea Market Flip is filmed. There are many unique shops and restaurants in town.
Take a longer scenic drive up to Kent, CT and see the Housatonic River rushing through Bulls Bridge Covered Bridge on the way. Take a short hike on Bulls Bridge National Scenic Trail. In picturesque Kent, CT you will find many shops and antiques as well as good food. Kent Falls State Park has hiking trails and a massive waterfall. Continue a bit further north to drive over the covered bridge at Cornwall Bridge, CT in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains. There are many nearby destinations for a perfect day of antiquing and sightseeing.
