Cute and cozy in peaceful neighborhood
What a welcoming place to stay for a sisters' get-a-way! Jeff was very accommodating with our travel schedule, and responsive whenever we had a question. The pull-out beds were decently comfortable and easy to put away each day to keep the space open. Wish the weather had been warmer so we could have enjoyed the patio - it looked like a soothing place to enjoy hanging out by the firepit. The location was convenient to all we wanted to do but still quiet enough to sleep well.

Charming and cozy
The cottage is in a beautiful area of Charlotte with lots of food and shopping options within walking distance. Jeff and Chris were available for questions and recommendations. The cottage is perfect for a couple. A bottle of wine, coffee, teas, and hot chocolate were available for us. The bathroom was tight but do-able. The one drawback was the sofa bed. I'm sad to say sofa beds have not gotten any more comfortable over the years :). We were able to sleep because we were so tired at the end of the day. Very safe area. Highly recommend for singles and couples.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay. I wish you had mentioned the sofa bed as we have a special piece to go under the memory foam mattress to add support and comfort. With it in it feels like a regular bed! Next time.

Lovely private historic space in Charlotte's friendliest neighborhood
My daughter and I traveled from San Francisco to NC, so she could tour a college she's considering transferring to. Jeff was responsive and very helpful in providing local information to help us enjoy our stay. We even extended two nights, and had a great time. The neighborhood is charming, safe, quiet and located very close to restaurants, pubs, parks, downtown and Queen Street featuring majestic, "Beverly Hills"-style mansions. The carriage house is filled with family photos, adding a familial touch. Note that there is no "bedroom" or actual bed in the carriage house, just two fold out couches (I missed that). The shower is also very small (3x3') and bring your own hair dryer. A bottle opener and coffee mugs that fit under the Keurig would've been appreciated, but no big deal. There was also a slight "dog smell" at the entrance inside the carriage house, but we didn't use the downstairs at all--we spent most of our time upstairs so it wasn't a big deal. We had a great time here and would definitely recommend it to others, and hope to come back. Really appreciated the warm Southern hospitality. Thanks, Jeff and Chris!

Adrienne, We really enjoyed having you both here. We do have a hair dryer in the closet. There is also a bottle opener in the kitchen drawer. We will make sure we add some additional coffee mugs that fit under the Keurig. Thought the ones there fit. Not sure on the dog smell as there are no pets that have stayed in the carriage house. Will check into it though.
Hope to see you again soon.

Great carriage house! Comfortable accommodations, great neighborhood & walking distance to Uptown
House is in a great historic neighborhood (Dilworth) with plenty of good casual restaurants within walking distance. It is also walking distance (I think it was about 2 miles one way) to the Spectrum Center. We did that one day but the rain forced us to Uber after that (which was only around $7-8 outside of surge hours). The house is comfortable and there is plenty of street parking. The owners did a great job furnishing the carriage house and it has way more amenities than we were able to take advantage of. What we did use was great - the shower was hot, the Keurig cups were well stocked, the mini-fridge was cold, the pull-out sofa and other sofa were comfortable and the TV picture was crystal clear - and there is a nice welcome book with plenty of restaurant choices. The weather didn't cooperate (pretty sure the owners were not responsible for that!) so we didn't get a chance to enjoy the courtyard which has a fish pond, patio furniture and fire pit. Owners were very responsive via Homeaway messaging and we met them briefly when we first arrived. Very friendly and long-time Charlotte residents with plenty of knowledge of the city and surrounding neighborhoods. After our three-night stay in Dilworth, we are definitely going to come back to explore Charlotte - and will definitely look to book this carriage house again!

Perfect place for our 2 night stay!
We enjoyed our stay. The information Jeff provided prior to arrival made finding the house and checking in seamless.
It does appear that the Keurig may be on it's last leg. May need to check that out. It could have just been acting up for us, though, as we were getting warm coffee 1/2 cup at a time.

Thanks for the review. I will check on the Keurig and see if it needs to be replaced or can be fixed. Thanks for letting me know.

Great location, wonderful hosts, cute place!
My husband, 1.5 yo daughter and I had a very nice stay. The place was clean, had everything we needed and the bottle of wine waiting for us when we arrived was a nice surprise. We loved the location. It was so easy to get around and walk to great spots in dilworth. The street is also quite which was nice. The only downside for us was the pull out bed. It wasn't the most comfortable for 2 tall adults but otherwise we had a great stay and would highly recommend it for the location, the hospitality, and if you're looking for a cute place in the area!

Warm, welcoming and perfect for couples.
This was the perfect place to rest our heads and feet after every busy day in Charlotte. Great access to South End, the light rail, and uptown. Easy to get Ubers. The carriage house is perfect for a weekend. The sleeper sofa was more comfortable than expected and space was wonderfully decorated and clean. Even with a mixup on our arrival times, our host, Jeff, woke up, graciously let us in and even remembered the bottle of wine (which we left for the next guest to enjoy). Will definitely stay again when in Charlotte.

Great location. Charming Carriage House.
We enjoyed our time in the Dilworth/Charlotte Carriage House. The accommodations were exactly as described. We were pleasantly surprised by the portable appliances in the kitchenette and were able to prepare breakfast using the toaster and electric burner. The location and its proximity to restaurants and shopping was outstanding. We walked to the light rail, local pubs, and enjoyed the beautiful homes in this neighborhood. Thanks to Jeff and Chris for their hospitality and the delicious bottle of wine. If we return to the area, we hope to stay here again.

Thoughtful details
Sooo charming! Lots of beautiful wood everywhere. Every detail to make guests feel at home and comfortable was provided. Our favorite was the private outdoor seating area with a small waterfall, plenty of shade trees. We were able to walk to a variety of restaurants, which was convenient. Owners were very welcoming. Loved this area!

Would not recommend staying here for the money.
The Carriage House gets you from it's charming pictures of the outside and it's awesome location. That is where the awesomeness ends. This is an office cottage set up for their children and grandchildren to play and visit in. Because no one over the age of five to twelve years old should be sleeping on their fold out couch. I can tell you the owners never have or they would not have placed such a wonderful description of the 3" memory form topper (not mattress) that is all you are meant to sleep on for the duration of your stay. So if you have a bad back or are looking to have one stay here. You will also not be cooking here. There is a hot plate with one pot if you want to warm up some soup that you could use the microwave to do so. The kitchen is a dorm style set up. Sink to do dishes in but no dish towels. Small camper style fridge that was serviceable. The Kuerig "style" pod coffee maker leaks and will over flow on your first cup because the bigger mugs will not fit under it. Did not use other coffee maker as space in this area is at a premium.
The bathroom is decent. But if you are a woman and don't feel like revealing your chest to the neighbors, some curtains would have been nice. And bring your own washcloth! Because they only give you one! Bath towels you will need to hang to reuse. There is only 4 or 5 of those. No laundry facilities. Also bring extra toilet paper! After the fresh one they leave you, there was less than a quarter roll in the storage closet. Also having to walking around their parked car in their driveway was not very welcoming. So be prepared to go around and tredge through the grass. Chairs everywhere! As well as pillows that were more in the way than perhaps tables to put your things on.
When the couch/bed is open you have to walk back through the dorm kitchen/office/ bathroom side to get to the other side of the room.
This is an office/carriage house for family to stay in. Someone must have suggested that they rent it out for extra cash and not for people who are traveling a long distance to be there and put no more thought into it. The cute signage with complementary wine (that we didn't drink) was not enough to make up for the lacking in adult traveling comforts. For the money we spent we could have stayed in a hotel in Charlotte with the same amenities.
Have stayed in several VRBO and never have been requested to remove the sheets and pillow cases. What is the cleaning deposit for then?

Wow...As you can see from all our other reviews, this is very concerning. I can tell you these were the most "interesting" guests we have had. The stay started when I received three calls from the Charlotte Police Department. I was at work and called back. The police representative told me an elderly couple was in the police station saying they were staying with us and didn't know the address. The welcome email contained all the details but they never read it. When they arrived, within 10 minutes they somehow jammed the mattress into the back of the couch. Not sure how they did it, but they did none the less. Then they asked me about laundry. We do not have a washer and dryer available to guests and do not claim to in the description. They asked if they could use ours in the house. When I agreed, she came in to our master bedroom and spent 20 minutes spraying all her clothes before I started the wash. I moved her clothes to the dryer and delivered them back to her. To say this was strange is an understatement. I would never consider entering someone's home to use their laundry facilities when it isn't part of the VRBO. The next morning I got a call that they had clogged the toilet. Again, not sure how they did this as it has NEVER happened before. It took me 30 minutes to get it unclogged. They proceeded to spend the day on our front porch (not part of the carriage house and we were out) of our home reading then chose to hang towels and the bath mat in our backyard garden area. Not how we like to keep the backyard! There is extra toilet paper in the closet, always at least two rolls, as well as lots of extra towels, coffee and bath products. Not sure how 5 extra towels were not enough for a three night stay. The mattress is in fact a memory foam sleeper sofa mattress, not a "topper." The pictures of the inside and out of the carriage house are up to date and accurate. All of our reviews are 5 star and we work to make every guest feel at home. Take what you want from this one, but it was all VERY strange.

We had a wonderful time! The cottage was perfect .
As a Charlottean, I knew the neighborhood was wonderful and the others in our group agreed it was perfect for our biking excursion with its proximity to the greenway and the trail along the rail line. We also enjoyed the serenity of the patio. We would love to come back for another adventure. While we did not eat dinner out during our stay, we found many places within walking distance that would have been enjoyable. Thanks for providing such a charming carriage house.

We had a ball, the Carriage House was close to everything, we had friends in, we were uptown did a "Funny Bus Tour", hit Black Hawk Gardens, and off to The Steeple Chase on Saturday, meet our friends there. Great affordable location for visiting Charlotte
We loved the convenience of staying in Dillworth. The house had everything we needed but keep in mind that you’ll be sleeping on a fold out bed and showering in a very small shower. If you know these things going in, then you’ll be very happy with the house.

Beautiful neighborhood!
I couldn’t decide between a hotel downtown (or as Charlotte calls it, “uptown”) or this HomeAway house - and I definitely made the right decision. Dilworth is a beautiful neighborhood and I enjoyed a couple leisurely strolls to nearby restaurants.
The house was clean and cozy - make sure you read the listing carefully to understand that the bed situation entails two fold out couches. I found the upstairs couch more comfortable to sleep on if I didn’t fold it out. :) Also, most of the carriage house is accessible via a flight of stairs, so it’s not a good choice for those who have trouble with stairs.
I enjoyed 100% privacy during my stay and found this house a great place to relax in between outings.

Why they chose this property
We purchased this historic home, built at the turn of the century, and renovated the carriage house to make it a welcoming space for guests and family.
