La maison de nos rêves

Cette maison ancienne en schiste avec vue sur le rio Alva nous a enveloppé de bonheur. On part se baigner à pied à la praia à 300 m et on part faire les courdes et boire l'apéro à pied à 500 m au village. Belle ballade à pied pour aller à Barril d'Alva Nous n'avons pas eu le temps d'aller à Gois ni à Piodâo, il faut au moins une semaine pour tout faire.

Casa muito agradável, nada de modernices, muito funcional, com tudo o necessário para passar umas férias agradáveis. Uma Sitio espectacular, bem localizado, tranquila, boa paisagem, relacionamento um pouco limitado mas suficiente. OS miúdos adoraram a casa. Um agradecimento especial à Jan pela sua simpatia, apesar de falar só pelo telefone, espero voltar e que da próxima tenha o prazer de a conhecer. Thanks very much

Excelente estadia

A casa é bonita, muito bem equipada e serve bem para 6/7 pessoas, tal como anunciado. Fica bastante próxima da praia fluvial mais próxima (cerca de 5 minutos a pé!) e muito próxima também do centro de Côja com bares, cafés, restaurantes, talhos, clínicas, farmácia, etc.

Charming house full of character

Our family of four had a great time in Coja. The house has a good layout, plenty of space including two outside terraces overlooking the river. Everything was clean, working and full of character which for us is the most important aspect. Just a few minutes from a lovely river beach with cafes. The town is also nearby, no need to drive, everything extremely pleasant. The neighbours were very nice and welcoming too. There is a road behind the house, but traffic noise not a problem as it is not busy. This is not a 5 star residence but it is homely, cheerful, comfortable, clean and relaxing and we felt it was very good value. The river beach is one of the best in the area although the house is also a good base to explore further afield. We had a marvellous holiday.

Fabulous holiday home

We had a fabulous stay in Jane's house in Coja. It's right on the river front so perfect location. The house is spacious, comfortable and clean. I'd highly recommend and hope to return. Thank you.

Characterful? Or just old and in need of modernisation?

To each their own opinion..... for me it was the latter. Very dark and musty in some parts of the house and very uncomfortable beds. In its favour, it’s very close to the local river beach.

Most of the guests staying at the house this year have said how much they liked the house and how they appreciate that it has been kept in the old Portuguese style. The kitchen is in the old wine cellar with the original stone walls and dark wooden beams and can appear a little dark on entry from the bright sun shine but there are plenty of lights to compensate and it is a lovely cool atmosphere in the heat of the summer which would be spoilt by rendering the walls and painting them white therefore losing the old character! Ann and her husband only used the downstairs bedroom and are the first guests to complain about an uncomfortable bed and I do appreciate that some people like a harder bed and some like a softer bed. The river beach is just a short distance from the house and so is the centre of the town making Santa Clara an ideal place to stay for a summer holiday for people who like a house with character and old charm.

Lovely house overlooking the river!

This pretty house is conveniently placed within walking distance of the local shops.The accommodation is comfortable and has everything you need for a pleasant stay. It is delightful sitting out on the verandas and we enjoyed some lovely sunshine even at this early time of year! Jane the owner was most helpful and left information about all the best restaurants in the area and many great places to visit.

A lovely cozy cottage for a Winter's stay.

I had a lovely cozy seven week stay at this beautiful cottage which is an ideal place for an Autumn or Winter's holiday. I would highly recommend this property to my family and friends, and I would like to add to my experience here and return in the summer for a visit too. It truly is a very special place.

Passamos boas ferias en casa de Jane e Vasco en Coja. A casa e bem equipada e restaurada com tudo que nos precisamos. Os dias de calor passamos no rio muito perto de casa e as noites jantamos no jardim de casa! Certeza voltamos! Vasco Jose Costa

Relaxing house, beautiful village.

Côja is a beautiful village and the house is equally as lovely, right on the riverside. Only a few minutes walk from a bar/ restaurant and where you can swim in the river. 5 min walk from the town centre. The house is well equipped and very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.
