Stylish, private log cabin style house with great decks, a lush fully fenced garden, and excellent hifi sound system.
** The space **
Falls Lodge is an open plan house, perfect for entertaining. At its centre is a generous breakfast bar connecting the newly refurbished kitchen and large living room, a social focal point. The living room features an open fireplace and the easily movable furniture makes gathering in front of the fire very easy. Then there is the most musical hifi you ’ve probably ever heard; bring your vinyl, CDs or logon to your favourite streaming. Falls Lodge comfortably accommodates up to 8 guests (main bedroom is queen; second bedroom configurable as 2 x singles OR one king; third bedroom with 2 x king single bunk beds (sleeps 4))
** Where will I be? **
Falls Lodge is a 3 minute drive north of Wentworth Falls village; 8 minutes from Leura, 10 minutes from Katoomba. The house is set in 2700 sqm of mature gardens and is fully fenced, should you be wanting to bring your dog.
** Why choose Falls Lodge? **
This three bedroom, single level mountains house contains everything a discerning holiday maker would expect! Soaring ceilings and multiple skylights bring in abundant light to a spacious free flowing floor-plan. What is more social than gathering in front of an open fireplace? And the slow combustion wood heater provides the cosiest warmth of all. The house, which has just been totally refurbished, is very tastefully decorated. There is a well equipped kitchen with new, top of the range appliances opening to the dining room. If you like music the living room boasts a high end tube hifi system for the most musical sound. Bring your vinyl, CDs or login to your streaming service. There is a 55” smart LCD backlit TV with Netflix (which can connect to the hifi) and DVD. Falls Lodge is pet (dog) friendly and the large garden is fully fenced.
** How is the property laid out? **
Falls Lodge is on a single level with no entry stairs; all rooms are wheelchair accessible and the showers and bath are equipped with safety handles. The house has surrounding balconies on three sides, north facing at the rear where outdoor dining is catered for (including a gas barbeque). The master bedroom with queen bed has an ensuite, the other two bedrooms – one queen, the other either king or two singles - being at the opposite end of the house with the main bathroom. Dining settings include being relaxed at the breakfast bar or seated more formally around the massive river red gum dining room table. A bar fridge in the dining room is also provided. Just off the kitchen is a dedicated workspace with generous desk and monochrome printer; folding doors allow your work area to be shut off once work is finished.
** Wi-Fi, Internet, Netflix or Pay TV - will I have it? **
This property provides complimentary WiFi and a password will be provided in your pre-arrival email. There is also a smart tv for your use which includes Netflix; BYO other accounts.
The NBN service has proven to be reliable (there is a brand new node directly across the road) and the WiFi is similarly well performed. Wireless printing is provided (if your printing requirements are large do BYO paper).
** What about outdoors? **
A large north facing deck with table and chairs for six offers great outdoor living space. There is also a fully fenced garden. You may bring your dog but not your cat. There is a kennel undercover on the rear balcony. Please note your dog is not to be left in the house during any absence and we ask that the dog’s feet be dried and wiped before coming into the house. (Pets are not allowed on the furniture or beds!)
If using the outside decks, please ensure all noise is moderated and taken inside at 10 pm to avoid any issues with neighbours.
** Staying warm or keeping cool?! **
As well as the slow combustion wood heater and open fireplace (dry firewood available for purchase), there is gas ducted heating, reverse cycle air conditioning and electric blankets for winter warmth.
** What about sheets, towels and other supplies? **
Linen and towels are supplied.
** Parking for cars, boats etc? **
There is off-street parking for several cars at Falls Lodge. The drive through car port will cover two cars. The driveway splits in two at the carport before rejoining to provide access to the lower gateway, allowing easy parking for two further cars.
** Is my dog or cat also welcome to stay? **
You may bring your dog but no cats please; we have abundant bird life at Falls Lodge and we’d like it to stay that way.
** What are the minimum stay rules? **
There is a minimum two night stay for all bookings, which changes to three nights on long weekends, four nights at Easter and seven night blocks during peak season. Peak season runs from mid-December to the end of the Australia Day long weekend in January.
** Are there any special season rules? **
Falls Lodge is a non-smoking house and during bushfire season we request no smoking on the property at all.
** Who will I be dealing with during my stay? **
This property managed by its owner.

** June 2019 Margaret-Mary ** Overall rating = 5 stars! Four days at Falls Lodge. PROS: warm welcome (literally - the fire was lit), spotlessly clean, delightfully quiet and only 2 kms from the village itself, well set up kitchen and good quality cookware, comfortable beds, large screen TV, consistent wifi and excellent hifi, great ice making fridge, plenty of pillows and towels. CONS: woken up early by beautiful birdsong :-)
** July 2019 - Leyla ** If you want some time away to the Blue Mountains Stephens place is the perfect cabin! It has a rustic atmosphere that matches the great nature outside! It’s got lovely wooden ceilings that make you feel like you’re in a mountain region! Kitchen is huge, plenty of space and seating, 2 fire places made it very cozy wherever you want to sit. I’ll be staying again! It’s also close driving distance to Leura and Katoomba, easy to park on site.
** September 2019 - Jenny ** This was the perfect house for a weekend in the blue mountains. The gardens are very secluded and tranquil - I felt a long way from the busyness of the world. The house is cosy, comfy beds, lovely bath tub and fireplace. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you could need and a good supply of basics (olive oil, salt, pepper etc). The large garden is fully fenced and dog friendly. Stephen was the perfect host.
** November 2019 - Jia ** A wonderful place for escaping from Sydney. Located in a quiet street but close to the town center. The house is spacious and clean. We enjoyed the fire place and vintage lights. Our fur baby also enjoyed this pet friendly place. The kitchen has everything and massive range of seasoning and spices. Stephen is quick in reply and good in communication. Highly recommend!
** March 2020 - Matthew ** Stephens lodge is nothing short of beautiful. The attentive messages prior to our stay, the privacy during our stay & even the mood lighting for our arrival, everything was amazing. We were lucky enough to have a beautiful rainy day & to have the dogs sleeping in front of the fire place made it much more enjoyable.
** May 2020 – Christina ** It was a perfect mountain escape with our close friends and dog - Stephen was a fantastic host and the djs in our group were thoroughly impressed with his speakers and vinyl cleaning products - the yard is gorgeous and the fire kept us warm. Thank you! ** June 2020 – Brendan ** Falls Lodge is really a gem of a place. The place is absolutely gorgeous (love the exposed wood design) with a fantastic kitchen to cook in, excellent heating, and a cracking fire place. The queen bed is very comfy, the bath is a delight and it the wrap around veranda was ideal for star gazing. Really have to compliment the sound system, wow. Stephen left really clear instructions on how to set it up and connect to Bluetooth and I have to say the sound quality was incredible. We had a great time drinking wine listening to some of our favourite albums. Location is great, check in and check out was a breeze and Stephen was really helpful with questions we had. Nothing but good things about this place, looking forward to coming back again sometime soon! ** July 2020 – The Schreuders ** My son summed it up best when we left “this was perfect and feels like home”. Stephen’s a great host, personable and responsive and has put lots of thought into the home, amenities and guidance. Lovely warm fireplaces, well stocked wood and kindling with heating throughout the house. The tasteful furnishings and bedding are comfortable and we enjoyed the books, board games and the Lake nearby (3km). The audio equipment is amazing and wish I was more knowledgeable to appreciate the craftsmanship. The town is beautiful and a short 2.5km drive away. Our dog (Cody) also enjoyed the garden and walks nearby. We’ll definitely be back.
** August 2020 – Victoria ** Stephen's place was everything you needed as a home away from home. We cooked quite a bit and everything you needed was available and well thought of. It was very cold the weekend we were up there but the two fireplaces were amazing. It kept us so warm and cosy! Central heating was there is you needed it, electric blankets and good heating in the bathrooms as well. We were a group of five and will definitely stay again!

Our stay at the lodge was excellent. We felt very welcome and everything was laid out well for us. The beds were very comfortable to sleep in. We highly recommend for a family to get away and enjoy this tranquil place. Great music system as well. Our hosts were very approachable and gave us many handy tips of local places to visit.

We have been hosting for several years now and take great pride in feedback such as this. We must also thank Secret Chord Analogue for supplying the outstanding hifi equipment that guests invariably enjoy.

A little slice of heaven nestled away in Wentworth Falls. Peace & tranquility is what you will find during your stay @ Falls Lodge. Be prepared to want to stay longer……the kids didn’t want to leave.

It is so pleasing when visitors to our home report having a lovely time, and especially young ones.
Falls Lodge provided a very comfortable three day stay. The ducted heating in particular was very welcome in an early winter cold snap. The property is equipped with everything you are accustomed to in your own home. The location is very quiet and peaceful and only a short drive to the shops.

Margaret and I enjoyed having you as our guests and hope to see you again.
We stayed during time of massive rainfall so spent more time inside than we had planned. Lots of space to spread out and have different activities in two lounge spaces and dining room. Huge well-equipped kitchen. Good floor plan to have master bedroom/ensuite at one end of house and two other bedrooms at other end of house.

Falls Lodge is indeed well set out for social interaction, whether it be a family for a weekend away or perhaps even more so for a group of friends catching up. The newly renovated kitchen now offers a breakfast bar of dining room table dimensions in the centre of the open plan house; perfect for a few days of intimate discourse.

Better suited to a large family
The location was good. Stephen was patient in following up with checkin when the system failed to register my pre checkin details, and preferences.
The property is suitable for a family vacation but unfortunately wasn’t the cleanest place we have stayed in. There was a jar of moulding jam in the fridge and half eaten margarine. There were also personalised items neatly folded in drawers, such as underwear and socks. Possibly better put away if the rooms are to be leased out.
The host did offer to walk us through the setup of the Hifi system which was good of him. Overall better suited to a large family.

As per many home share rentals, hosts vacate the premises prior to guests arrival. There is never any suggestion that the premises in question is an hotel, devoid of previous occupation. As to system booking difficulties, complaints are often raised by those who do not take the time to understand what is requested of them.
Falls Lodge is well appreciated by those seeking the calm and quiet of the mountains. Were one to arrive without knowing why you were here, you might end up questioning a jar of jam.
We came with 3 dogs and 6 adults. The house was large enough and the owners obviously cater for dogs which was appreciated. I would recommend the house for people wanting to stay in the mountains with animals. The only surprise was to discover the gas heating preset at night in summer and one fan short. We quickly turned off the gas heating.

The house is indeed suitable for dogs, being fully fenced. Overnight temperatures in the mountains in summer can surprisingly plummet to single digits quite quickly and as the gas heating is thermostat controlled does not start unless the inside temperature drops below 20 degrees.
Really lovely getaway for a couple or small group. The hifi system is like a warm hug around the ears. Attention to detail is evident throughout the property. Can't fault our perfect weekend. Hoping to return for another relaxing weekend soon.

Elissa and her husband were lovely guests who clearly appreciated the Tube Sound Audio hifi system with its tube (valve) amps and wonderful TSA open baffle loudspeakers which so perfectly complements the house and its relaxed ambience. We look forward to hosting Elissa again!
A special place in the heart of the Blue Mountains
Enjoyed our weekend at Falls Lodge, which has all the comforts you'd expect in a full sized house. Lovely large deck/veranda to enjoy the fresh mountain air, and a big kitchen with all the goods.
Having both a slow burning stove and fireplace kept the house warm during the cooler weather. The slow burning stove easily keeps the house warm and is situated near a beautiful large dining table so you can enjoy a fire and warmth while having a meal or playing some games. The open fire place in the living room is great on those dark nights relaxing and enjoying a drink or two.
What is extra special is the sound system - a truly amazing experience for a music lover or audiophile, it provides perfect hi-fi ambiance to the warm atmosphere of the open fireplace.
Definitely an enjoyable stay.
Beautiful leafy property. Cosy and warm with everything you could want fora weekend getaway in the mountains. Comfortable beds, lovely kitchen, and all very clean and tidy.

About the host
Hosted by Stephen
I am a retired business manager and now run workshops in tube hi-fi amplifier construction, as well as producing the leading vinyl record restorer, Record Restore and SCA Loudspeakers. My wife and I have lived in this house, Falls Lodge, in Wentworth Falls for many years and have a passion for the serenity of the Blue Mountains. We very much enjoy the sense of being away from the pressures and sprawl of big city life. Here in the mountains, things seem to move at a slower pace, in keeping with the seasons and the weather. Our garden is a constant source of calm and is regularly visited by the local bird life. Friends and family who visit us often say they breathe more deeply up here and sleep more soundly. Even after just a weekend, they feel refreshed and revitalised. Our aim is to do all we can to ensure you have a comfortable and relaxing stay!
Why they chose this property
My family have had connections with the Blue Mountains since my parents retired here some 30 years ago. When looking for an escape from big city life this property appealed as it offered a style which appeared natural to the mountains as well as offering additional onsite facilities to house the expanding Secret Chord Analogue business. Falls Lodge now plays host from time to time to Amp Camp - people building their own tube amps - as well as vinyl record cleaning and appreciation.
What makes this property unique
First and foremost, people from the city enjoy the silence; on still days and nights you can almost hear your own heart beat. As well as the escape from ambient noise, the other attraction is the darkness of nights as there is an almost total lack of light wash from the myriad sources of artificial light which is the hallmark of modern cosmopolitan life. This also allows an appreciation of the night sky which is largely lost to city lights. Then there is the appeal of Blue Mountains' townships, from Wentworth Falls' own village environment to shopping in Leura (8 minutes up the road) to the old world charm of Katoomba itself; bush walking the local trails and the magnificent views over the Wentworth Falls themselves, Megalong Valley, the Grose Valley and other lookouts further afield. Even Bathurst becomes a day trip as it is only 90 minutes to the west. But perhaps the biggest attraction that people report is Falls Lodge itself, its tranquility that simply allows a deep relaxation.
