THE ONLY 1949 JIM DANDY KNOWN TO EXIST. When World War II ended, America went camping. The same canvas tents that had sheltered soldiers were suddenly available at surplus stores for a few dollars — field-tested, durable, and cheap. Ex-military pilots became bush pilots flying canoeists into the Wisconsin wilderness. Paid vacations arrived. And families like the one who built this Jim Dandy packed up and headed north.
This site pairs their actual camper — the only 1949 Jim Dandy known to exist, still bearing photographs of the couple who built and loved it — with a companion 1940s luxury glamping tent. Two units on one campsite, curated together as part of POV Resort's LIVING HISTORY MUSEUM OF CAMPING — AMERICA'S FIRST.
THE SPACE The vintage Jim Dandy sleeps 2 on a full futon with a food prep area inside. Snug by design — that's the authentic character of early American camping, and it's the point. The companion 1940s luxury tent sleeps 4: a full memory foam bed with upscale bedding, two cots with luxury bedding, and charming period décor — dark inside for guests who love to sleep in. No appliances or running water in either unit. Basic electricity in the camper powers lights, phone chargers, laptops, fans, CPAP machines, and other low-draw devices.
OUTSIDE YOUR DOOR Private firepit, charcoal grill, hammock, picnic table, and Edison string lights. A shared gas grill station with provided tanks is available in the campground (between sites 8 and 9). Wood swings and hammocks throughout the resort. A propane space heater is provided — bring or purchase 1 lb canisters in our self-serve store (one gets you through the night).
BATHHOUSE Our new air-conditioned restroom trailer has four private bathrooms with sinks, hot showers, and toilets. Deep cleaned twice daily. Water station on the exterior.
EVERY RESORT AMENITY INCLUDED IN YOUR RATE One price = everything. No surprise fees. Guests have full use of our sandy beach with easy lake access, paddleboards, kayaks, canoes, hiking trails, game room, general store, and stargazing. Boat rentals and romance packages available.
PARKING One vehicle at your site; overflow at the bathhouse.

We had an amazing 4 night stay glamping and enjoying the beautiful property. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. We can't wait to return with more friends and family!
It was our first stay at POV resort and we absolutely loved it! Owners and employees of the resort were very friendly, helpful and responsive to our requests. We stayed in camper built in 1947 and it was very unique experience. Every glampsite in this resort is different and unique and located in the wooded area. Resort has variety of water toys included with your stay and nice sand bottom beach. I would say this place is great for any occasion, like romantic weekend or family reunion. They also have two short trails on site, and I especially loved POV trail which ends with great view, picnic table and two hammocks. We would definitely spread a word among our friends and family.

About the host
Hosted by Darren and Genevieve Coady
NEW OWNERS GENEVIEVE & DARREN In early 2018, we (Darren and Genevieve Coady) decided to go on a new adventure, take the plunge, and become America's next small business owners buying the resort formerly known as North Twin Lodge. We like to think of ourselves as caretakers of this wonderful resort that has and means so much to so many.
So what led us here? We have had much experience in camping. And we know a lot about vacationing. Darren has run a community center that hosts events, and Genevieve has a background in community planning and economic development. We have a son, Oliver, whom we want to bring up living a good life - knowing hard work but enjoying the relaxation of nature.
Bottom line, we felt it was time to do more to give back to others. Using our collective professional experience - thrown in with a dash of fun - our dream of owning a resort was born. When we found North Twin Lodge we fell in love with its history, its tradition of returning guests, and the lake. In October, 2018 we opened doors and haven't looked back.
As for the name change, Darren's childhood home was named "Coadys' Point of View" as it was on the end point of an overlook. With the resort having a walkway on the lake out to the point on the property, the Coadys' decided to keep the name for their future home.
Come visit the resort and become a part of the Point of View family - we look forward to meeting you and sharing in many memories to come!
