McCrae is a small coastal village between Dromana and Rosebud at the foot of Arthurs Seat on the shores of Port Phillip. It offers a long beautiful white sandy beach and shallow swimming, along with a small shopping centre including a large supermarket, as well as beautiful cafes and restaurants across the road. The McCrae Lighthouse is a prominent local landmark that was built to mark the turning point for shipping in the main navigational channels between Port Phillip Heads and Melbourne. Safe swimming can be had at the picturesque white sandy beaches along the length of the foreshore reserve from the headland of Anthony’s Nose to Rosebud. This coastal strip is known as the foreshore and forms part of the 28km Bay Trail for walkers and cyclists that runs along the Port Phillip coastline from Safety Beach to Portsea. We went for a quick family getaway and really loved this house - it is spacious and light with both upstairs and downstairs living areas, very clean and well furnished. Convenient location for activities such as Arthurs Seat The Eagle, Enchanted Gardens, Dromana Drive-In and beach all just a short drive away. Kirsty was a fantastic host - very responsive and the booking process was easy. Highly recommend.
This was a great house in a beautiful location close to the beach and shops. The house was presented well and was spacious to accomodate the eight people we had there during our stay!
Beautiful tranquil location and property. Easy downhill walk to the beach and cafes. Property was well stocked and the kitchen has everything you need to cater for a group of 8. Our stay was relaxing and enjoyable. The sunsets are amazing.
Fantastic property, suited us well with two living spaces. Bedrooms well appointed, very clean. Two bathrooms, great showers & plenty of hot water! The coonara fire was so special and the view to the sea - kitchen was amazing!
Be aware the driveway is quite steep & a number of steps down to the front door of the property. Location was great, quiet area and short drive to shops and beach. Cant wait to stay again!
Our family of 5 adults and 4 kids loved our long weekend in McCrae. House was well equipped with a beautiful aspect overlooking trees. Lots of room for then kids to explore and play. Loves the outside area with the bbq. Downstairs area unfortunately was noisey due to the above lounge area and little kids. Also the bedrooms were quite warm fans or air conditioner at that area of the house would help.
This property was perfect for our needs. Very functional clean and well appointed. As it was winter we appreciated the heating options.
We were able to walk to the beach and up to Arthur’s Seat which full filled our exercise needs. Close to wineries for tasting and celebration.
We also enjoyed cooking meals in the kitchen and sharing the dining space.
Two living areas created options however the upstairs space was ideal for our adult group. Had it been warmer the deck would have been utilised - views through the trees to the sea were very picturesque.
A great way to catch up with family.
