The passage of time is marked by the movement of cattle, the shade and mist from the ranges, the clouds gathering and dispersing around Mt Battle Frere. A cassowary crossing the paddock regularly in late evening, the call of the chowchillas and the fresh whip call of the rifle bird in the morning and the shrieks of the cicadas on a summer afternoon, indicate the time of day. The frequency and volume of rainfall marks the seasons. Located near the Nerada Tea factory, the Mount Bartle Frere walking tracks, equidistant between Malanda and Yungaburra.
