Unique newly renovated lake front home built around antique log cabin. Spectacular views of picturesque Cole Pond and evening sunsets. This is a
great place to get away all year round. During the summer fishing, swimming, canoeing and kayaking can be enjoyed right outside your door on Cole Pond. In the fall there is beautiful foliage around the lake and in the surrounding areas . Winter can be enjoyed by cross country skiing or snow shoeing right outside or driving to one of the mountains that are in close proximity such as Stratton, Bromley, Magic and Okemo.
We are also close to Jamaica State Park for hiking, Manchester Center for foodies and shoppers, Weston – home of the Vermont Country Store and the Weston Playhouse, and beautiful Buttermilk falls in Ludlow.

Relaxing weekend retreat!

This is one of the nicest places to stay so warm and inviting. Had another great relaxing weekend watching the loons and the hummingbirds. Highly recommend.

Winter visit

10/10 property, arrived in the dark and while the cabin was easy to find we were pleasantly surprised in the morning with an amazing view of the snowy frozen lake just outside the door. Separate living room was isolated enough for adults to hang out while the kids slept. Very comfortable house, kitchen stocked with everything we needed, highly recommend

What a beautiful house

We had great family reunions time during Christmas! It is a very beautiful place! We like the lake front view so much! The house is clean and it has everything you will need for daily use. Good for two families with kids.

Great stay - wish we were there longer!

We booked this house for a quick getaway to ski at Stratton. It exceeded our expectations. Donna, the host, went above and beyond before and during our stay to make sure everything was great. We spent most of the time skiing so only wish we had more time at the house! Beds were comfortable, kitchen was well-stocked and the house was very clean! Would definitely recommend and stay here again!

Idyllic setting and wonderful house

The house was amazing. Donna was wonderful to work with - communicative, helpful and quick to get back to us. Everything was clean, cozy and well stocked. The house is super close to Stratton Mountain and we loved sitting by the big fire after the ski day. We will definitely be back -- we loved it.

Wonderful tranquil getaway!

Exceptionally well equipped and well maintained home on a beautiful waterfront. Enjoyed paddling around Cole Pond in the kayaks and canoe provided by owner along with hiking nearby trails in the Green Mountains. Instructions for home are easy and clear. Our family experience here was outstanding and all was just as described - we highly recommend this property!

Beautiful Spot

Thank you so much for sharing your house with my family again! It is such a quiet, relaxing spot. It was great for adults and my nieces who are 8 and 10 years old. We loved the boats, board games, and the porch. The house has everything you’ll need for a getaway and Donna was great with communicating with us. We can’t thank you enough for such a great weekend making many new memories!

Amazing stay - 5 stars all around

We often book a few airbnb/VRBO houses during the winter to ski. This was by far the nicest we have been in. Amazing host who was very easily accessible and went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay and provided recommendations for restaurants and activities in the area. The home was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the house was well stocked with items that made it easy to cook. We can’t want to come back to visit. 5 stars all around

Amazing Cousins Weekend

I am so lucky to have found this rental. My grandparents owned the original log cabin and sold it to Donna’s parents 29 years ago. They have done a wonderful job updating, but still keeping the charm. It is beautiful on the inside and outside. Loved having the boats and kayaks, everything you need for the kitchen, grill, and lawn games available. Donna was amazing with answering our questions and checked into make sure we were all set. If you’re looking for quiet, relaxing getaway this is perfect!

Cozy getaway

We had a wonderful stay at Cole Pond for a few days of skiing at Stratton. The house is even more lovely than the pictures show. It was the perfect relaxing house for the non-skiers in our group and a cozy home for those of us tired from skiing all day. The house was fully stocked with spices, toiletries, etc which made it so easy to settle in. The one person in our group trying to work did say the wifi wasn't good enough, but we told him he shouldn't have been working anyway! We look forward to coming back again!

Perfect Winter/Ski Getaway

This house could not be more perfect. My family of 4 stayed with another family of 4 for a 2 night ski weekend. The house was clean, warm, and inviting from the minute we arrived. The owner was responsive to questions and provided all the information we would need to enjoy our weekend. The kitchen was well stocked. The beds were comfortable. The location on the lake was beautiful. We went to ski but could have hung at the house all weekend. The proximity to Stratton Mountain and local restaurants was perfect. Just wish we could have stayed longer!

Hidden yet convenient

Our stay on Cole Pond exceeded our expectations! The house was suitable for the two families in our party, and there was plenty of room so the kids and adults had their own space. The kitchen is fully stocked and modern. After skiing at Stratton, which is only 15 minutes away, we loved coming back and settling in near the cozy fire. Donna was so helpful before and during our visit, which made our first trip to Cole Pond a memorable one! And we hope it isn’t our last, as I expect it would be beautiful in the summer!

A 5-Star Stay in a Charming House on Beautiful Cole Pond

From the moment we arrived at this VBRO rental, we were in awe of its beauty and charm. The house is newly renovated and equipped with everything one could possibly need for a comfortable and memorable stay. Our days were filled with kayaking adventures and fishing expeditions--we all caught fish, including two largemouth bass. The view of Cole Pond, complemented by the surrounding woods, was nothing short of breathtaking. However, the highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the nighttime view. We were fortunate enough to be there during the Perseid Meteor Showers and witnessed dozens of meteors streaking across the sky. It was a magical experience that we will cherish for years to come. This VBRO rental exceeded all our expectations. It's evident that Donna and Bill put a lot of thought and care into the house and surrounding property and genuinely want renters to have a wonderful experience at their home. We would not hesitate to book it again for our next vacation. If you're looking for a serene getaway with a mix of adventure and relaxation, look no further!

Donna's parents bought this property in 1995. It consisted of a log cabin with a small attached addition. They demo'd the attachment and built a small 2 bedroom addition. When the cabin was passed on to Donna and her husband Bill in 2016, they worked with a local architect and built the beautiful place that it is today.

Why they chose this property

The property is right on Cole Pond, nestled in a private corner of the pond. In the summer you can swim, fish, kayak, etc. In the winter you can walk out the door and snowshoe or crosscountry ski around the pond. Fall foliage around the pond is beautiful.

What makes this property unique

There are views of the pond from many of the windows. From the newly built screened porch you can enjoy the view of the pond and beautiful sunsets while listening to frogs and other animals. In the winter you can enjoy the fireplace while sitting in the original log cabin. A special feature is the new hardwood hemlock floors that were milled from trees that had to be taken down from the property.
This house is very special to us - we have many family memories. We put a lot of TLC into taking care of it. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
