The flooring is a sustainable art paper floor featuring inlaid fall leaves from the property. Originally built by and home to a young Amish couple that moved to Minnesota with their growing family; we had the cabin moved to our farm on the foot of "the big hill" back in 2005 when we updated it to have electricity, appliances running water. We have an on-demand hot water system for limitless hot water, so feel free to fill the footed slipper tub and relax in the hot spring water or shower off after a day of hiking and then kick back in the oversized chair, the round cuddle couch, or the recliner in front of one of the electric fireplaces. Enjoy the remarkable sunsets overlooking Laurel Run Canyon from the top of the Big Hill. Enjoy the night sky, even the Milky Way, like through the veil of darkness only found in the remote night skies. Relax in front of the gas fire pit or slip into the hot tub for a relaxing soak.
Enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience in the Hocking Hills.

Brenda was incredibly responsive to our questions. The cabin had a feeling of being at home. We loved the secluded area, yet it was a close drive to hiking trails and restaurants. The stairs on the inside could be tricky for those with mobility issues but the outside stairs were easily accessible.

Thank you so much for your great review! We try to emphasize that this cabin in particular is not for mobility challenged folks. Our Cabin by the Pond is ground floor for those with more challenges. We really appreciate your choosing to stay with us!
The host went out of her way to help make sure we could check in a little early on a cold day. The cabin was so cute! We had an amazing time as a family.
We loved staying in this cozy and private cabin, and the views from the hot tub of the surrounding area were great! Be sure to order Brenda’s homemade cinnamon rolls!
Very gracious host who clearly pours her heart into all she does. Loved meeting her and enjoying the beauty of the cabin and the land. The hot tub was pretty wonderful too. So enjoyed our stay!
The cabin was lovely, and Brenda and Eric were great hosts! Very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Perfect place for a little getaway!
Nice cabin for girls' weekend! Pretty art pieces inside cabin, some of which made by the host and we're for sale! We did take a walk over to see the pond too - easy walk to and from. Appreciate the extra attention to detail for written driving directions
Cabin location and stay was just what we needed. Very cozy cabin to hang out and unplug.

About the host
Hosted by Brenda & Eric Schmidt
Laurel Springs Farm is a 67-acre family farm found near Laurelville, Ohio in the Hocking Hills owned by Eric and Brenda Schmidt. After a fraudulent business merger that resulted in us losing everything but this land, we decided to try our hand at farming. While challenging in many ways, the work is very rewarding and there are always new things to see, do and learn. We feel blessed that we had this beautiful land to sculpt into our own, have a place for family to visit away from the city and consider the work our exercise which is great for our health!
We are proud parents of 5 grown children and a growing number of grandchildren. Our family inspires us to try to live a more sustainable lifestyle.
We strive to practice sustainable agriculture, promoting the improvement of our whole environment.
Why they chose this property
Unique 67-acre farm surrounding the cabin with hills, a pond, a forest and an amazing view from the top of "the big hill" with unbelievable sunsets views during summer.
What makes this property unique
Secluded, yet close to Hocking Hills Parks and local amenities and adventures. Several acres out of the 67-acre farm are available for you to roam, including access to Lance's Pond and the fishing shack where you will find fishing poles and basic tackle for catch and release fishing. Ask about our seasonal offerings including blueberries, blackberries, chestnuts and other fruits from our orchard and even flowers may be available with separate arrangements. Perfect for newlyweds, anniversaries, birthday celebrations and other special occasions and we very much appreciate the part we get to play in such beautiful memories.
