About this property

Sandrift by the beach

Summary:

A two-storey beach house one street back from Largs North beach, with the living, kitchen and balcony upstairs for the light and the sea and hills outlook, and four bedrooms, three bathrooms and two undercover outdoor areas for a family or two couples. Ducted heating and cooling, full kitchen and laundry, parking on site. Twenty five minutes to the city, five to Semaphore.

The Space:

THE LAYOUT

The living level is upstairs, where the light and the outlook are: an open kitchen, dining and lounge that runs out to the front balcony, with one twin bedroom and a bathroom up there too. The two queen bedrooms and the second twin room are downstairs with the other bathrooms, the laundry, the covered patio and a private courtyard. It separates the house naturally: parents and the main bedroom below, kids near the living upstairs or the other way round, as suits you.

UPSTAIRS

The kitchen runs down one wall with a gas cooktop, oven, dishwasher, microwave and a long stone bench with stools, and a dining table for eight sits beside it. The lounge has a modular sofa, a TV with DVD player and a ceiling fan, and sliding doors onto the front balcony: a table and chairs under cover, looking over the rooftops to the sea and back to the hills. A second covered balcony sits at the rear. One twin bedroom is on this level, with a bathroom and a separate toilet.

DOWNSTAIRS

The main bedroom has a queen bed, built-in robes, its own ensuite and room for two chairs, a TV and a DVD player, so parents get a retreat of their own. The second queen bedroom has a TV and air conditioning, and the downstairs twin room has two single beds. The third bathroom has a full bath, and the laundry has a washer and dryer. Sliding doors open to the covered patio with a barbecue and outdoor dining, and a fenced courtyard beside it.

OUTSIDE

Off-street parking on the driveway for two cars. The beach is a one minute walk at the end of the street, wide and sandy, with the boardwalk running south to Largs Bay and Semaphore and north to the marina.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Two storeys with an internal staircase and no lift. Towels and linen are provided.

Guest Access:

The whole house, both outdoor areas and the driveway. A storage room is locked. Self check-in by lockbox; the code comes with your boarding pass before arrival.

The Neighborhood:

Largs North is the quiet end of the Lefevre Peninsula. The beach is at the end of the street, the Largs Bay jetty and the Pier Hotel are a five minute walk south along the esplanade, and Semaphore Road, with its cafes, pub meals, the Odeon cinema and the foreshore, is five minutes by car. The marina and boardwalk at North Haven are to the north. Port Adelaide's wharves and markets are ten minutes.

Getting Around:

Parking on site for two cars. The Outer Harbor train line stops at Largs North, a ten minute walk, and runs to Adelaide station in about 35 minutes. The city is 25 to 30 minutes by car and the Barossa is about an hour via the Northern Expressway.

Other Things to Note:

After your booking is confirmed you will receive a boarding pass link from Airbnb's partner ENSO Connect. A $550 security deposit is authorised and held by your card provider, not by us, or you can choose a $55 damage waiver instead. Travel cot and high chair available on request for a fee. We are available 9am to 5pm, 7 days a week, and for emergencies after hours through the Airbnb platform.

Great House

Great House for a group of adults. Showers are amazing. Location is terrific not busy with tourists but has everything you need or want. Semaphore is gorgeous, local pub is terrific. Neighbourhood is quiet. Only let down was the Weather and cant blame stayz for that. Would stay again

Groomsmen

Groomsmen’s staying before and after the wedding. Perfect for staying because the wedding was at the cruising yacht club. The only thing I would say is to take extra toilet paper. With 4 toilets it can go fast.

So very disappointed.

I’m so torn to write this review but this was not worth the money we spent on this house. One of the bedrooms was infested with baby spiders, even between the sheets, hundreds of them. This rendered the room unusable for three days. They sent housekeeper to spray an over the counter pesticide. I ended up spraying the outside patio and window to help the problem. Also, be prepared, only 1 towel per person. Too bad if you want to wash your hair. There are 3 patios of which all were dirty, we only used one and had to wipe down the table and chairs….really!! The floors were all dirty and your feet were black if you walked around barefooted and the bathrooms stunk. As far as household supplies, 1 dishwasher tablet and 3 sheets of paper towels. The stove top did not light, nothing to light it with manually, all the markings on the stove top were worn off. Oh, and I was told that this was Australia and we have insects here. I’m an expat, raised in Adelaide. They did drop off paper towels, dishwasher tablets and a box of matches after two requests. Being so close to the beach you would think they would have some beach towels, think again, no!!We were told if we didn’t have to stay we could leave, knowing full well there were no other rentals in the area. We flew from Los Angeles to visit family and had no other choice but to stay. Thankfully my brother who lives in Adelaide supplied us with extra towels and pillows.
