About this property
Three bedroom new home with a great view!
Make our home your home for your stay in wonderful Hobart. Our new 3 bedroom home has a timber deck with lovely views of Mt Wellington and the natural bush nearby, which attracts wallabies and birds, regularly seen from our house. In fact they often hop down by the house in the evening. From the top of the driveway, you can see the River Derwent. It's in a quiet, private spot at the end of a cul-de-sac, with views from all rooms. Warm in winter and cool in Summer, it's close to shops, banks, cinema, and supermarkets. Less than five minutes away is Tolosa Park which has picnic/bbq areas, wildlife and a some swings and the lovely Lenah Valley Creek and walk is also a short drive away. It's a 10-minute drive to Hobart with little traffic, or a 5-minute drive to the world-famous Mona.
We have one security camera monitoring the driveway only. The driveway is not particularly steep but only one car can use it at a time. We have rarely had a problem with guests parking here but if you have a particularly large or wide vehicle it may be a problem. We usually reverse down and drive up, but some people drive down and reverse up.

About the host
Hosted by Franz Docherty
Tasmania has been home for us for most of our adult life. We moved from the Huon Valley to Hobart when our oldest daughter started high school. Myself and my wife are professional writers, writing for film, tv and theatre so we spend a lot of time at home! it's nice to have a nice outlook to do so! We've used Stayz when travelling and it's enabled us to be able to do so as a family in a way we couldn't afford otherwise. And to experience a different side to a place, away from hotels. We love Hobart and it's wonderful to have visitors come to see our city, a city that's unique in Australia. When visitors are in our home, we're not too far away, usually we're in our shack, which we love going to.
Why they chose this property
Glenorchy is a large suburb with lots of different pockets, and different ethnicities. There is lots of bush around, yet it's a quick trip into Hobart via the back way, with very few traffic lights. Having said that, most things that are needed are down in Northgate Shopping Centre, about a five minute drive away. It has supermarkets, a cinema, laundromat, food court, banks, post office, gym, etc. It's a multicultural part of Hobart, with Tolosa Park nestled under Mt Wellington, or the parks on the river at Montrose Foreshore, near My State Arena. Our house is in a quiet area on the edge of the bush and at the end of a cul-de-sac. We have a nice view of the surrounding suburb, Mt Wellington and the bush, yet we are handy to everything. We built our house too!
What makes this property unique
We're lucky to have a lovely outlook from just about every room. It's close to bushland and we have a wonderful view of Mount Wellington. It's comfortable and feels like home. We do have some ornaments and decorations around but none of them are valuable. We also have toys and games. I think the privacy, peaceful outlook make our comfortable home a nice place to stay. It certainly doesn't feel like a hotel.
