The property was a good size for our 9 people: However, the property is currently under construction -they are putting an addition on the back. And the construction starts early and continues for most of the day so enjoying the backyard can be a noisy endeavour. There are also many strange things that kind of work or don’t. The basement dryer door, the pool heat is not turned on-you can see the gas turned off and not working so the pool is very cold. The kids were fine to get in it but we are from Alberta and they are used to cold lakes. The hot tub is full of black flakes that makes me think the the hot water tank might be suffering. The first night we parked a vehicle on the road and the side mirror got clipped and broken. Not the houses fault at all but just a warning about parking on the street.the backyard is a great place to spend the day without the construction noise.

The property is easily accessible, only a short drive to grocery stores, restaurants and other points of interest. It is spacious and has many amenities that are great for our group. We had an enjoyable stay and will book again in the future.

Great stay!

Stuart was a great host! I was having some technical difficulties with my account initially and Stuart was very responsive and helpful. He checked in throughout our stay. The backyard is awesome and even bigger than the photos show. We had everything we could've needed available to us during our stay!

I stayed here with some friends in July and it was the perfect getaway for us! The pool was awesome, AC to get out of the heat, and communication with the property manager Tyler was smooth. Thank you!

A few days before checkin,the host asked if we could provide a 3hour window for workers.As we were a group of 10,I coordinated with everyone to accommodate the request.However,we were never told the property was an active construction site.When we arrived at 6 PM, the house was approximately 30C inside because a window had been left open and the AC was not on.While this may have been an oversight, it was an uncomfortable welcome.The serious issue was discovering major construction underway.The owner was adding an entire section to the back of the house,which was never disclosed.When we uncovered the pool, everything was covered in construction dust.The pool had not been vacuumed and was dirty.We also found sharp pieces of plexiglass and roofing screws on the ground,creating a serious safety hazard.I contacted the host, but received suggestions rather than a clear plan to resolve the issues.On Thursday morning, I advised that workers could come during the agreed 3-hour window.They arrived within 10 minutes, stayed all day, and returned the next day, significantly affecting our privacy and enjoyment.Construction materials remained throughout the front yard.It was not until the day we were leaving,after I contacted VRBO, that the back windows were covered and materials were removed.Had the construction been disclosed, we would have chosen another property. We made every effort to accommodate the host but were placed in an undisclosed, unsafe construction environment.Worst VRBO!

Place was less than ok. Communication with owner was fine until we had asked for money back then went dark. Pool was unusable, see photo. Basement leaked in two of the rooms we had guests in with half inch standing water. I would look elsewhere

Property Did Not Meet Expectations

We were told no early check-in because cleaners still had to clean the property (at no point did we request for early check-in). When we arrived it seems like the floors, rugs, and bath mats were never vacuumed or cleaned, tiles around the toilets had splatter all around like it was not mopped and dust on all night stands. These were minor things as we could avoid the rugs and wipe things down (however should there be cleaning fees if we are doing this ourselves?). The pool was green, BBQ was filthy, and no workout equipment. I immediately contacted the host as it states in the check-in instructions. He says a professional pool cleaner looks after it weekly and it’s safe for us to use. We were uncomfortable with the algae in the pool and decided we would not use it. On the third day of the stay, he decides to come check out the pool and informs me the filtration system is not working and not to use it. This was disappointing because we rented this property for the pool. He said he would “take care of us” and we have yet to receive any partial refund and he has stopped responding to my messages.Pro: Enough space for big groups, host was quick to respond and brought a new kettle.

Unfortunately, “The Grand Oasis” did not live up to its name or our expectations, as advertised in the listing. A group of us had rented this property in anticipation to use the seemingly wonderful pool and backyard amenities. However upon arrival, it was apparent that the pool hadn’t seen maintenance or a proper opening in quite some time. When contacting the host he acknowledged that the pool was seeing maintenance and that he insured it would be available for use the following day. This never happened, the pool remained in its current state the entire stay, and was extremely filthy (picture for reference). Additionally, the overall cleanliness was not up to par. Our check in was delayed due to cleaners completion of the house, although it didn’t appear that anything was actually cleaned. Multiple pairs of used underwear from previous tenants were found and in general the place was not clean. We had contacted the host to advise of these items, which he acknowledged were unacceptable and would consider a discount on the property. Surely a good enough compromise for us; if he would have actually followed through with that discount or further communication. Radio silence since then, which is unfortunate. The place has potential & is spacious, but I would not rely on the owner’s testimony and/or the listing’s description. Writing this review to bring some accountability to the host, in the hopes that future guests will receive a stay as advertised.
