We've stayed at Timberdoodle many times, and it's simply delightful - perfect for large groups who know each other well, or are just getting to know each other!
The Timberdoodle lodge is a spectacular destination. The commercial kitchen alone makes it worth the stay. Had a great time socializing with friends, enjoying great food and sitting in the sauna.
Timberdoodle has the feel of a hunting lodge, but it worked well for our group ranging in age from 1-65. The kids loved the fields to run in, the apple trees, the raspberry bushes, and the pavilion with picnic tables was perfect for outdoor dining. There were plenty of beds for everyone and the kitchen was spacious with lots of fridge space.
We came up for our second time for our annual Michigan Ice Fest visit from Detroit. Timberdoodle is a treat - it's a fantastic way to experience the UP, both on the property and in the area, and served our large group effectively. The kitchen is spacious and efficient, with plenty of room for everyone, and the abundance of bedrooms made it easy for our group - plus the sauna is always a hit.
Our extended family of 32 of all ages had a great time. The kitchen was set up for large group cooking and dining. There was enough room to eat and play games. The grass area was large enough for the kids to run around and have some great wiffle ball games. A nice surprise were the state of the art 3 washer and dryers! Tamara was a dream to work with. She answered all of our questions! It was a great vacation for all!
Property was amazing! We could of stayed at the property the entire week and I would of been fine (dogs were in heaven with that much space). Having 8+ bedrooms was fantastic for everyone to have their own space. The large kitchen was a plus. Can’t say anything bad about this lodge. Even Tamara was great and on top of answering any questions I had. 10 out of 10
The house was fantastic for our annual family gathering of 16! There was ample bathroom facilities, and bedrooms. We especially liked the 3rd floor boys and girls dormitories for the eight teen cousins! Living area, large dining/game tables, places for teen boys to do their daily runs, lovely views of large acrage, billiards table, huge commercial kitchen, bar area and coolers, and especially the fry griddle a son-in-law has now decided he must have. We took day excursions to many waterfalls, hiking, and beaches on Lake Michigan and Lake Superior. Centrally located to almost all U.P. fun destinations. A wonderful “home” to return to at the end of the day, make dinner and enjoy a variety of evening activities. Everyone was very pleased with Timberdoodle!. Thank you!
Pros: Nice location, big house, lots of beds, plenty of towels, lots of place outdoors to run and play, 3 washers and dryers, pretty quick response time.
Cons: I was really surprised to see how dirty it was! We washed or rinsed quite a few of the dishes before using them. There were mouse droppings in the kitchen. The sink area in the garage next to the washers and dryers had a bowl that looked like blood from someone butchering and was incredibly filthy.
This is a beautiful place! Bedroom setup was great as was the main living area. Owners were very responsive. Loved the industrial kitchen - it had pretty much all of the dishes and utensils you could think of needing in preparing food for a large group. Highly recommend!
Timberdoodle Lodge was a fantastic place--beyond what I thought it would be. We had a super time rattling around in such a large place. We had planned to bring more with us, but there were only 13 of us. The kitchen was amazing and having so many rooms to decide from....wow! I loved the dining room table which was large enough to fit all of us so we could eat as a family. The family also enjoyed the pool table and the kids learned a new game. And, the fire pit with the picnic shelter and tables...who would have thought of that?! You did! :)
I would just suggest perhaps one thing. Though I know this lodge was made for those who are healthy and in shape, it might be nice to have a chair lift for the stairs up to the rooms, if possible, for those who have trouble climbing or descending stairs.
Thank you so much for this wonderful experience! We all enjoyed it!
Our family had a wonderful say here! The lodge is setup nicely for large groups. Everyone enjoyed the pool table and playing games indoors. The trails, river, fishing, kayaking, and walks were a hit for outdoor activities!
We had frigid temperatures during our ice climbing trip, but 25+ of us stayed at Timberdoodle without issue. The house was warm, the sauna was hot and - fortunately - the driveway was well plowed during our stay. Timberdoodle was a fantastic option for us.
This is our 4th year at Timberdoodle. Each year has been a fun and memorable experience for everyone on our family from ages 5 to 75. Sleeping accommodations, kitchen, living room and surrounding land are perfect for large families.
Great time playing pool and poker! Best part was everyone had a bed and a private room. Kitchen was amazing with a big enough griddle to make pancakes for everyone. Already booked next years adventure.
Myself and my family absolutely loved our stay at the farm. The layout was very functional for a large family and kitchen set up perfect for everyone to prepare food comfortably! The wood fired sauna was also a huge added bonus :)
