Waveys cottage - Located in Northern Newfoundland just 7 kms from L'Anse aux Meadows UNESCO World Heritage Viking Site, this Yellow painted Cottage is a lovely 100 year old traditional Newfoundland box style house that has been restored by E. Annie Proulx,it is situated at the ocean front. It has 2 bed rooms, one bathroom,kitchen/dining/living area, patio doors and patio facing the ocean. Very Cozy and Funtional. Good for 4 people or less! Next door to the Atlantic Ocean where you can see icebergs floating by whales, seals, sea birds, sunrise , moonlight on the ocean . Have a beach fire, beach comb of sea glass , explore the Rocky seashore. People have told us they have seem also seen moose, foxes, minks , rabbits on this property. 12 acres of land with the three historic vacation rentals and an abundance of raspberries in the late summer!

A spacious, well-equipped country cottage in a peaceful setting. The door frames upstairs are quite low but the two tall people in our group (over 6 feet tall) did not mind having to duck. We loved the cottage and its location.

We had an amazing stay at Annie’s Retreat! It is a lovely traditional saltbox house that has been renovated without stripping it of its historical charm. We felt so at home and it was a great base for days of exploring L'Anse aux Meadows, Griquet, St.Anthony, and areas around Pistolet Bay. Every morning I woke up to the sound of the ocean waves and enjoyed a coffee while enjoying the stunning view. The hosts were quick with all communication and have a gem of a property.

This was an absolute gem in the north!! My family of four (2 kids - 10 and 8) loved staying here for two nights in July 2026. Very smooth check in process and super clean space. I loved how the owners leaned into the authenticity when updating a century home (quilts, low ceilings, vintage furniture, etc) but also modernizing with the comforts of staying at home. The property is gorgeous and my kids had a blast hunting for beach glass! 10/10 would recommend

Our highlight location of our trip to Newfoundland! So glad we were able to spend a couple nights here. Beautiful space, gorgeous view and, when it was sunny, we enjoyed spending time outside and dipping our toes in the water. It is exactly what you see in the photos but when you are here everything relaxes and you feel like you are truly unwinding. One thing to note - One of our nights there was a lot of wind and rain - so much so that the deck door was getting pushed in (even while locked) and a very loud sound was coming through. Scared us at first but we got creative to hold the door shut tight. This may not be common but it gave us all a bit of a shock when it happened the first time! Highly recommend this place to anyone staying in the area. It will not disappoint. Oh and we ate at the Norseman restaurant nearby too - delicious with a fantastic view!

Very nice historical home on the northern peninsula. We were close to Lanse Aux Meadows and we could see an iceberg from our window every day were there.

Spectacular location - a lovely rustic house on the water

We spent four nights at Annie’s Retreat staying in Wavey’s Cottage. It was comfortable and warm, perfect for two couples as long as you don’t mind sharing a bathroom. The location is perfect - close to L’Anse Aux Meadows but easy to get to St Anthony and beyond. We even had icebergs in the cove and pieces ended up on the beach below the house.

Perfect location right on a bay. Beautiful views from the windows. The small beach is shared with two other homes rented by the same owner. The home was quaint and lovely, with plenty of room downstairs for two-four to spread out. It is an old home, which added to the charm. Ceilings upstairs are low; someone 6’4” has to duck to walk around upstairs, which is also where the bathroom is located. The driveway is steep, but our very low car was fine in summer. Easy parking and leaving right at the house. We loved that we were right in the middle of a whole bunch of destinations, most being under a 20min drive. At the same time, it was quiet and on the water! A win, win.

Serene oceanfront house

Close to L’Anse aux Meadows and a number of good restaurants. Perfect place to relax and enjoy the view of the ocean. There are the usual kitchen amenities. The two bedrooms and one bathroom are upstairs, which has only a 6 foot high ceiling, so not great for tall people. There is a steep one car wide gravel driveway from the road to the house, which serves 3 houses. This would require someone to back up if one was entering and one was exiting. But this was never a problem for us, because there are only cars for 3 houses.

Beautiful location on Gunner’s Cove…convenient to sites…L’anse aux Meadows, St. Anthony and Burnt Cape Ecological Reserve. A step back in time!
