About this property

Treetop Guest House

The Treetop Guesthouse is a mixture of warm cabin vibes and modern home comfort. A forested private getaway located within 5km of the community of Rossland and 2km of Red Mountain. It can provide comfortable living for groups of up 11 people.

The house is set on a nicely forested north slope which bottoms out at Topping Creek. We welcome snowboarders, skiers, bikers, golfers, climbers, hikers, and all people who enjoy the outdoors.

The space
Built primarily by a friend of mine and myself, the Treetop Guesthouse is a 3 story home which received its first occupancy permit on January 11, 2024. I live here in the basement level, which is not directly accessible from the top 2 levels. . .that is your space to enjoy!

A 35' bridge spans from the parking area to the entrance of the house and wrap around deck. Deck space here is expansive and most of it is covered, aside from the rooftop deck.

Top Level: This is the primary common space in the home and includes a full kitchen, island, and a dining table with seating for 8. There is a couch to the side of the table and a 65" TV. A 24' sliding glass patio door opens to a massive covered north facing balcony. From the balcony, a stairway leads up to the rooftop deck.

Middle Level: This level has 3 bedrooms which contain a combination of queen, double, and single beds (some of which are bunk beds). The shared bathroom features a bidet toilet while the master bedroom has an attached bathroom and tile shower. There is a secondary living room with another 65" TV & large attached deck. The large mudroom leads outside where you will find the hot tub and wood fired sauna.

Bottom Level: This is where I normally live, in a loft style bachelor suite with 12' tall ceilings. Groups which require more beds may be interested in renting this space as well. At various times of the year, other guests will rent the suite and may be here during your stay as well. Parking areas and access are completely separate and I have not yet had an issue with groups being disrespectful towards one another :)

Located on a road with no exit, the property is 5 acres in size and offers a lot of privacy. My home is a perfect place to enjoy time with family and friends when you're not out experiencing what this area has to offer in regards to outdoor activities. The Treetop Guesthouse is a great place to enjoy social drinks with your crew, but please look for an alternate location if partying and making a lot of noise is on your agenda.

Other things to note
If you are here in the winter, it is recommended to arrive in an AWD or 4x4 vehicle.

Although I really do like animals, this space is not pet friendly. Please check my other listing and consider booking my suite as well if you would like to include your pet on your vacation :)

If you are here in the summer, please be bear aware! If you leave any bear attractant (food or garbage) inside your vehicle, there is a good possibility that they will try to break into your vehicle and cause damage.

About the host

Host profile image
My name is Pat and I played the main role in the design and building of the Shred Patio Bed & Shredyard. During winter I work as a ski patroller at Red Mountain and, now that my house is complete, I work as a medic for the BC Wildfire Service in the summer. I grew up under the living skies of Saskatchewan and normally return there in the fall to work during harvest. I play guitar in local Rossland band, The Gravy Train. Here's a bit more about how I got here. . . . .

How did Covid and the worldwide shutdown affect your life? For me, prior to Covid (year 2020), I was spending winters in Rossland, spring in Mexico, summer in Chile & Argentina (winter) and fall back on the prairies to make a little money to take a kitesurfing trip somewhere tropical and then return to Rossland for winter again. When borders were closed in the spring of 2020, the lifestyle I was carving for myself was largely not available anymore. I spent the summer of 2020 visiting friends and family, thinking that covid would blow over and I could return to ‘normal’, but by spring of 2021 it was evident that returning to winters in South America wasn’t going to be an option. I watched as the cost of housing began to skyrocket and got very nervous that I would never afford a home of my own in the one community that I consistently returned to for winters since 2012, Rossland.

To be continued. . . . .
