Clean cabin downtown, fresh renovation of 1919 classic
Loads of character with modern amenities and comfort! This bright & conveniently located homestead dates to 1919, or earlier. It's been thoughtfully restored with new bathroom, gas fireplace, air conditioning, fridge, dishwasher, WiFi, wood flooring, and more. Enjoy the high-desert sunshine and superb trout fly-fishing on the Deschutes River. We are encouraging professional telecommuters and catering to trout fisherman. A comfortable work environment is present for getting work-at-home office stuff done during the heat of the day, and fishing in the am and pm when it's best. The famous Rainbow Tavern is a across the street with an excellent city market, a well-equipped fly fishing shop is on the other side of the park two blocks away, and all the other 'big city' amenities are at your finger tips. No pets, parties, or smoking, thanks.

Cozy, clean, well stocked cabin
Cute and clean cabin. Was exactly how it was advertised. It was stocked with everything we needed, comfortable for 2 couples. We really loved and enjoyed the back patio, it was a nice surprise, we spent quite a bit of time out there and had a lot of fun with our guests. Our one recommendation would be to update the mattresses. Thanks for letting us stay for the weekend.
This was our second stay in this cute little home overflowing with unique character and charm. Ideal location within walking distance to all the local attractions. The outdoor shower was a great addition! Thanks Mark for another memorable stay/vacation! 🥰
This place is 100000% western Oregon. It even better than the photos can reveal. Mark is a kind and responsive host, and it's really quite luxurious. The porch swing is not to be missed!
Sincerely,
An Oregonian
Mark's house is incredible. You really feel like you are at your own house. It has a really cool cabin feel to it (built in 1919 I think). Private backyard and patio to enjoy the evenings. Everything was comfortable and cozy. We will definitely be back!
This house was a great find for us. We were going to go our first white water rafting trip and needed a home base for the weekend. The cabin is nestled perfectly to all the things you might need. The Store/liquor store, coffee, bar, gas, rafting companies and a short drive to a few restaurants.
The cabin was amazing! Nice and clean and very unique. We watched a movie or two and played board games when we weren’t lounging reading a book.
I would definitely go back there and hope to someday soon.

Cabin, Great location
We wanted convenience and a cabin feel and this place was perfect. Comfortable, able to walk to the store and restaurants, nice patio for outdoor relaxing. Also you can’t beat the people watching. I liked the authentic touches of the house. Very comfortable, am thinking this might be part of my annual family vacation. Loved the river with the rafting, waterfalls and fishing. Plus no traffic!

Great fishing weekend spent with my son in this fishing cabin. Very clean organized & well cared for
We would stay at this property again. The owner is responsive and instructions for use of the rental home are detailed and adequate. If you fish, be sure to visit the fishing store in town! Thank you for letting us use your home.

Charming and comfortable, great location!
The cabin has a ton of comfortable, quirky touches, and is in easy walking distance to grocery store, tavern, etc. Just minutes from prime steelhead water, too!

Amazing Cabin incredibly central to Maupin Downtown!
I was headed to Maupin for a fishing trip with my father in law. We were researching local motels and hotels; I found the reviews to be a bit concerning. Either the prices were high and/or the reviews shared how loud it was into the wee hours into the night. On a whim, I decided to check VRBO and that's when I would this cabin.
The location is awesome. It is one block from the market and the Rainbow Tavern. It's the perfect location. It was incredibly quiet at night. Just the perfect spot.
The cabin itself was impressive. I was expecting very little and was pleasantly surprised when I entered the cabin and saw two well sized bedrooms, a nice bathroom, and a fun sized kitchen. We had a roku with Netflix on the TV. It was fun to sit on the porch and just enjoy the summer air. The bunkbed room even had an air conditioner in case it got hot during the night (it did). The cabin was big enough for a family to bring their 2-3 kids with them for a few nights in Maupin.
I also need to talk about the owner of the Cabin. If you send him an email, you'll get a response within minutes. Every follow up question is answered well and with much care. When we apologized for getting the departure time wrong (and causing a bit of trouble for the cleaning service), his response was "don't worry about it... how was the fishing?"
If I were ever to return to Maupin, I would stay here without question. A+

Comfy and clean!
The house is well stocked, close to everything, and a comfy place for a family or group of friends! We enjoyed the close proximity to shopping and activities and enjoyed having a place to crash and rest from the heat with our two little ones! Thank you for having such a great place! Should we ever wander to that area again we will surely be staying here!

Great Vacation/Fishing Home in Maupin
Thanks, Mark for renting your place in Maupin to me and my 2 buddies. You have done a terrific job renovating this great house. It was perfect for 3 dudes on a fishing trip to the Deschuttes with plenty of room, modern appliances, and antique memorabilia. The house is nicely furnished, very clean, and well maintained. We enjoyed the patio for a home-cooked meal one afternoon as well. Although the house is on the main street of town, it was very quiet at night. We used the air conditioning one afternoon - very nice! We enjoyed the great market located just a couple of blocks down the street. It has a deli, beer, wine, produce - super convenient. We also appreciated having a nice fly shop right across from the market. The only thing that would have made it better would be if the house was right on the river. Not very many places like that in Maupin though. Still, the river is only a 4 minute drive (if that) from the front door. You get what you pay for with accommodations, and we all felt that your place was a very good value. Thanks, again.

About the host
Hosted by Mark Allen
We live in Portland and have enjoyed fishing on the beautiful Deschutes river for years. We also enjoy home renovations and installed all the new woods floors and other cosmetic treatments in this house. We also have another vacation home in Idanha, Oregon on the Santiam River, so this is our second project.
Why they chose this property
It's right on the main street of small town friendly Maupin, so you can enjoy coffee from the covered front porch swing and watch events. There are car rallys, bike races, vintage car shows, and other events all summer. It is an easy walk to the well-stocked market, fancy fly fishing shop, city park, and of course RAINBOW TAVERN. If you've been to Maupin, you know how special that is!
What makes this property unique
I enjoy the blend of 1919 Forest Service pedigree and modern conveniences like WiFi, dishwasher, and climate control. It's perfect for a few days of solitude to get concentrated work done, taking a break to fish in the morning and evening. The Imperial and Riverside are a couple great restaurants rewards for success!
