Great cozy house

We had a great stay at this house in Orem. It is just as it is described in the listing. The house was clean and had everything we needed. The host, John, was very nice, responsive and replied quickly. The house is in a great location with short drives to Provo and the mountains. Highly recommend staying here!

Cute, cozy home

Close to shopping, hiking, site seeing and my relative’s home. Dog friendly with fenced back yard. Arrived late at night and John , the owner answered my call. Hope to return and stay again to finish hiking the Y!

Nice, well stocked, home away

Well maintained, easily accessible, relaxing neighborhood, responsive host. We couldn’t have been happier with the well stocked, modernized home. Plenty of free parking, beautifully maintained lawn, well furnished, updates. Living room had ample seating, Amazon fire stick equipment tv with local and subscription channels. Kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, utensils,I pots, pans, staples to cook with(flour, rice, protein mix, spices, etc…Fridge was full of condiments. 3 Bedrooms & 1 bathroom had space, amenities.

Good location but couldn't see in total darkness to get in. No hand rails. Outside overgrown with weeds, vines and dead leaves. Mulch needs attention. Cracked sidewalk hazardous. Could not get garbage can in or out on owners schedule. Close to BYU. Inside decor lovely. Wonderful appliances look new, Windows dirty. Spray for bugs, spiders, earwigs. Remove giant bed pillows in front BR. LivRm carpet stained. Otherwise house very clean. Inside bedrooms too small to open suitcases on floor or racks. Need to fix kitchen clock and blinds. Noisy neighbor kids. Property owner asked for 5 star rating. Sorry this is NOT a 5-star property and couldn't be fixed during our stay. It's true the rent was cheapest.

Thanks for sharing your detailed feedback — we followed up with the homeowner after reading your comments, and they wanted to share the following:- We strive for a 5-star experience, but understand that wasn't the case during your stay and appreciate your honesty.- Since your visit, we cleaned the exterior windows and sills, shampooed the living room carpet, and added blackout cutouts to the bedrooms.- The porch light is set on a timer from sunset to 11 PM, and while there are two small cracks in the sidewalk, we haven’t found any that pose a safety risk.- We have a monthly pest control service in place and did not observe bug activity during our follow-up visit, but we’ll continue to monitor and treat as needed.Thanks for taking the time to leave your review.

Great little place

We've stayed at a lot of rentals like this, and this is probably our favorite. It's a pleasant little house with a great layout. It had everything we needed for our stay in terms of utensils and dishes, and lots of little extras. It was clean and comfortable and well-furnished. The owners contacted us to see how things were going, but they didn't insert themselves into our vacation, which was nice, so the level of contact was just perfect. We highly recommend this place.

The Little House in Orem

This house in Orem has lovely living room furniture. The kitchen is incredibly stocked with items you might need to cook with. There are nice, well functioning appliances. The cupboards are pretty much full with dishes, bowls, and cooking supplies. There is even a hand mixer which I didn’t use because I took my own, not expecting so much to be supplied. There is even a mix to fix hot chocolate. There are various pans to use for cooking, some in better shape than others. The supplied bed coverings and pillow coverings are lovely. There is a generous supply of towels provided. They have made a third bedroom out of the garage. It gives the place a lot more room. The steps down into this third bedroom are a little challenging for older people like us. Because the distance between the house level and the garage level is not evenly divided by steps of equal distance (and there is no hand rail) we decided not to take the chance of using the bed to sleep in because we are not as sure footed at night. The room was a great place for storing empty boxes and suit cases that we would use again, so it kept our clutter out of the rest of the house. Some of the things that were provided were quite amazing. There was a computer and printer in the third bedroom that was available. A washer and dryer are furnished in the kitchen along with laundry soap—very helpful items for longer stays. There is a completely fenced in back yard, a very nice thing for those with pets. We had the unfortunate circumstance of our stay being cut short by my hip failing on me (fracturing) and needing extensive surgery. It did NOT happen at the house in Orem. We had gone home for the weekend and couldn’t go back to the Orem house because I ended up in the hospital, instead. My daughter and son-in-law moved our things out of the house. They missed some of our items simply because they didn’t know all that belonged to us. The manager was incredibly helpful and honest in identifying, retrieving, and returning our left-behind items. The owner was also amazing in his kindness and fairness to us in this unusual and unforeseen situation. Most of my comments have been deservedly positive. I have a couple of suggestions for improvements. The front steps need to be resurfaced for safety to stop the erosion going on. And it would be good to replace the bed in the front bedroom. It feels like someone heavy has slept a lot on one side while the other side of the bed is good.

Marybeth, thank you for taking the time to post a positive review. Of the things, you identified I will go to work on right away. I will look into resurfacing the front steps. I believe they have some erosion going on because of the salt we have thrown on them in Winter over the years. The bed in the front I will look at replacing the mattress. It is fairly new, however, less than two years old so I will take a look. The down a step bedroom is a more difficult task as that step you speak of is actually the entrance to the crawl space which houses the Heater and hot water tank. This property more than exceeded our expectations. The pictures did not do the house justice. It’s like a brand new house in a quiet neighborhood close to everything and it was easy to find. The house was the best equipped private rental we have stayed in and there is plenty of space including a private backyard. I can only hope this property is available to rent the next time I visit Utah.

nice, quiet neighborhood

The house was nice, comfortable, and in a very quiet area. We enjoyed our stay. The only difficulty was the check-in, as VRBO or the owner did not provide any information on access to the property. We did text John and he provided us the key to enter. There were no instructions as far as wi-fi, cable/satellite, air conditioning, etc. We figured most things out but never did gain wi-fi access. A nice intro sheet located inside the house would have been nice just to make us, and future vrbo'ers, feel welcome and comfortable. It would also help people to know if there are any checkout requirements. The fridge still had left over food items - an open jug of milk, etc - so it felt weird. There was also a razor and used soap in the shower, just things that we are not used to in a VRBO. Altogether it was quiet and comfortable. We loved the neighborhood.

Adam, thank you for taking the time to offer feedback. The check-in information should have been sent to you when you completed the reservation on VRBO. I have talked to VRBO and they say it is with the rental agreement sent. There are two instruction check-in sheets. Both in plastic sleeves, one on the TV stand dresser and one on the desk in the lower bedroom. There should not have been any leftover items in the fridge nor a razor and bar of soap in the bathroom. I have spoken with the cleaning gals and they have agreed to be more vigilant in this regard. Thanks again for coming.

Great neighborhood home in Orem

Our stay in this clean and bright home was perfect for our purposes. We had several different people coming and going while we were there and everyone thought the house was just right. I would highly recommend this home to anyone wanting a real home in a nice neighborhood for their stay in Orem.
