This was sincerely one of the best VRBO experiences we have ever had. The property was charming and so homey. The home was equipped with everything you could need. The view of the lake was so lovely. And the mattresses! Such comfortable beds! We loved everything about it and should we ever be in the area again, we would definitely stay again.

It is a beautiful house in a truly amazing location - thanks so much for appreciating it and taking such great care of our lake home. Yes, the lake is prone to algae plumes during the hot weather times of the summer (we do note this in our listing). Beaver Dam has a couple freshwater swimming options that some of our guests use from time to time - I’ll definitely update that in our listing.

Check-in was very easy. We arrived to find a house that was beautiful, clean, and with a kitchen that was stocked with everything we needed in terms of crockery, cooking utensils, and eating utensils. There were welcoming snacks, and a coffee bar with Keurig Pods available. The bedrooms were well appointed, and each bed (all reportedly very comfortable) had a bedside lamp, including the bunkbeds, which was a wonderful feature for everybody, including the first graders, who are just getting good at reading. We loved all the separate gathering areas for our local family to join us for dinner. If I didn’t understand anything or if something seemed amiss, I contacted the owner and got a response within the hour. We will stay here again, very gladly.

This is a gem of a house at the edge of Beaver Dam Lake. My family stayed there as we gathered for my father's funeral. It was welcoming and well stocked, with a variety of spaces for both getting together and being alone. Doug was very gracious and responsive. Thank you, Doug! Highly recommended.

Had a wonderful weekend in a beautiful home! Check in and check out couldn’t have been easier. Enjoyed the kayaks and the campfires were awesome but the best part was just relaxing on the deck watching the beautiful views. We stepped back in time!

Each space in this historic home is as unique as it is cozy. There are beautiful pieces of the past- the hardwood floors, ornate stair rails and original doorknobs, yet, the kitchen and bathrooms are beautifully updated with new fixtures and appliances. It’s beautifully decorated! We kayaked on the lake and loved seeing the different homes on the waterfront. There is a cool electronic game board in the living room which was really a hit. We all loved toasting marshmallows and making S’more’s around the fire pit. We’re all looking forward to returning to this wonderful little getaway!

Amazing

The property was perfectly clean. I have never seen one like it. It smelt clean. Everything was provided from beach towels, to laptop, to makeup remover, to binoculers, to kayaks, sun room, everything you need. There were even sandwich bags in the pantry. I wish I did not have to pack a lot of these items. Communication with Doug, was instant. I cannot say enough of this place. The lake view and proximity of the back deck to the lake was just a few feet. The decor was appropriate to the name of the house. The AC was perfect as well as the ceiling fans. The floor of the bath shower surface was such to avoid slipping. Bath towels were good fabric as well as the beach towels. Everything was just perfect. Already recommended it to others and sent them the link. Thank you Doug and VRBO for such a wonderful stay.

Unique house, great for large group

We enjoyed our stay and found the house very unique. Very quiet area and great view of the lake. Few issues but the host helped us out with that. Overall would stay here again. If I may add, a hot tub would be an amazing addition to the property. Markers on stairs leading down deck as well which I believe has been added. More comfortable chairs by the fire pit would also be a nice addition. Overall great location close to store, restaurants and bars! Host was amazing during our stay and even provided a small cake for my dad’s 70th birthday. One thing to note is that this is not a swimming lake unfortunately, it’s murky and best for fishing. We did kayak which was great as the lake is super calm and huge. Life vests were provided! We also rented a pontoon boat which was very relaxing!

The Gatsby Getaway--The Epitome of Enchanting Elegance

The Gatsby Getaway transported us into a storybook setting for gathering to share and make memories. The original architectural details of this rare lakeside Spanish Revival gem are truly enchanting. Yet the modern conveniences of a well appointed large kitchen and updated commodious full bathrooms add to the elegance of this house. There are spaces to gather that are cozy and spaces to gather that are roomy, depending on your need. The dining room and sunroom were our perches for morning coffee. We enjoyed the lakeside deck as the perfect spot for an afternoon glass of wine or our cocktail hour, watching the wood ducks, orioles, and crested flycatchers in the trees and the pelicans and ducks on the lake. The sunsets were gorgeous as we relaxed in the deck chairs. At night, we nestled in the cozy and comfortable beds as the waves on the lake lulled us to sleep. We shared much laughter and memories during our relaxing yet invigorating time together. And made more wonderful memories as decades long friends--thanks to Gatsby Getaway. We hope to return again soon!

Family Getaway

We stayed here to have a little family vacation not too far from home. The rooms were nice and clean, the kitchen had everything we needed along with a nice grill outside. We had a lot of fun. The house has a lot of cool decorations with the Gatsby theme. The host responded promptly to all our questions. There are plenty of good restaurants, nice parks, and Horicon Marsh is just a short drive away and we stayed plenty busy. We stayed during a heat wave so outside temps got to 90 and the house stayed comfortable inside. The only issue we had was that the outside patio faced the setting sun with a standard patio umbrella providing shade. With how hot it got after lunch it made using the patio tricky until the sun was pretty low. I am unsure how cool/cloudy it needs to get to enjoy the patio in the afternoon but it was uncharacteristically hot and sunny during our stay. This did not detract from our stay but we did not get to use the patio as much as we hoped we would. The patio is also the only place where a full party of 8 can fit comfortably. The dining table seats 6 and the living room with the game table can hold 5-6 before people would need to sit on the floor. We had 6 adults, a toddler, and a baby so we were fine but 8 adults would be a little cramped.

We stayed here while in town for a work conference and could not have been more impressed. The house was even more beautiful in person than the photos suggest, and it was clear that no detail had been overlooked. Everything was thoughtfully appointed and made for an incredibly comfortable stay. Doug is the consummate host and made the entire experience feel seamless from start to finish. We would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Our Family's love of travel, real estate and adventure led us to Beaver Dam, WI. We love spending time at at the lake and in lake communities with an abundance of activities. Beaver Dam has all of that and more, with many restaurants, ice cream places, breweries and celebrations.

After purchasing a second home here, we wanted to share the incredible home and experience with other guests and turned it into a part time vacation rental. We love hearing from our guests about the memories they made while staying at our home. We set this vacation rental up to make every family's dream of a peaceful, relaxing, adventurous vacations possible.
