A great place to base yourself to walk tracks in the area
This is a unique and tranquil getaway

Outside toilet, but only 3 metres from the entrance

The Rustic Alpine Hut is a magical place to be.
You can explore Arthur's Pass National Park day walks, with the best tracks only minutes away from the front door.
Explore the mountain bike trails of the area or skiing at the five nearby fields or just be inspired by the scenery.
There is an awesome ‘ Pot Belly’ fire to keep you warm.
We have wood on site.
Free internet. 👌

Only 15mins south of Arthur's Pass Village, on SH73, The Rustic Alpine Hut is next the expansive Otira River and mountains of the National Park.
The cabin is a fully self contained unit, with, a Kitchen, Fire Place, Microwave, Toilet and Shower.
A Cosy Cabin with all the essentials.
This cabin is central to all tourist activity's on the West Coast.
Pet friendly (no cats please, they kill the birds)
This is a unique and tranquil getaway.
Hear native birds, the river and the occasional train.

There are Sand Flies in the area. They are busiest just before rain
Other things to note
Bring insect repellent, fire lighters, torch, umbrella, rain coats and toilet paper
There are no shops in Otira, so bring food. Nearest shops are Arthurs Pass 15 Min)
There are no theme parks so bring your own entertainment.
People with the right attitude who love nature and the wilderness enjoy their visit and come back again
The train passes at times and can be very noisy 👂
